the movie was literally a spectacle of powers and explosions with no actual content

stuff 'happened' but nobody cares because none of the characters were actually developed at all besides wolverine. for example, many fans were actually happy about cyclops dying, not me because hes my favorite x-men character, but... even if it was handled better just killing off some character who nobody feels connected with in the first couple minutes only works if their death impacts other characters and provides drama that way. unfortunately, nobody seems to actually care (or even notice, really) that he dies and it impacts literally nothing except that it gives them an excuse to let storm get more screen time. hell, i am pretty sure that cyclops was killed off because the actor went with bryan singer to do superman returns rather than because the writers actually thought it was meaningful or interesting in some way.

basically the whole movie was just to try to fit as many new 'characters' in and have them fight, but nobody has any connection to them or reason to care about them besides that they like those characters in the comics. this is why I think the first x-men film is easily the best x-men film...it focuses on a small group, they all get a fair amount of screen time and most of them have some kind of story arc.
