That was my guess, pretty sure I read about them cancelling the series after the pilot a year or so ago.

I'm sure a show set in that period would be much harder to write, since there is so much unknown about it. Also no dragons or Targaryens. Compared to the House of the Dragon show, where they have thousands of pages of information already published, covering most of the Targ history in Westeros. Should be super easy to crank out a good show w/ that material.

yeah Im pretty stoked about House of the Dragon honestly. i hated the ending of GoT just as much as everyone else but Ive read Fire and Blood (the book HotD is based on - at least the Targ civil war part) and its a damn good book so it should make for an incredible show.

Was this the cancelled series about The Long Night and the origin of the White Walkers that was going to star Naomi Watts? May have ended up being a successful show if the end of GoT didnt completely ruin any interest the audience had in the White Walkers.

Anyone who thinks this is going to flop just because of GoTs terrible ending are complete idiots. The GoT intellectual property is still the most hyped in the entire world of popular culture. For example, GoT was the most widely streamed show during the entire pandemic even after its awful ending.

This show is going to have an insanely huge audience and will likely break all kinds of records just like GoT did.
