I live in a very cheap part of the country. Median income for an individual is a bit over $25k and median household income is $58k. Over 40 years, that's 50,000 a year, with no raises or adjustments for cost of living and inflation. You're assuming either of us is going to be working or even breathing 40 years from now. Edit: also, there's nothing in the OP about doing this job well. Nor does it say that I can be fired from it for not doing it well.
