Same principal, though. If you kill somebody in a justified act of self defense, it's not a criminal act. A minor weapon charge doesn't nullify your right to claim self defense.

So punish him on the weapons charge, sure, but he absolutely did not commit murder.

They're not being punished for being a victim, in that case. They're being punished for the law that they violated, completely independent of any other crime.

It's like being rear ended, through no fault of your own, but because the police investigate the crash they find out you've been driving with expired plates.

how many times has an illegal immigrant been the victim of a crime(attacked,robbed,beaten,raped,etc) and gotten deported? Youre going to sit here and tell me that this doesnt occur frequently?

There are literally countless cases of illegal immigrants being punished for the pettiest of things, even when theyre the victim. You cant be serious right now.

Correct, he cannot claim self defense according to the law. He can physically defend himself from his attacker, but will still be subject to punishment by the law.

even if we overlook the curfew thing, Rittenhouse was not legally allowed to discharge the firearm he was in possession of(illegally), even if he was defending himself.

Like me I said, it sounds weird, but defending yourself and self defense arent necessarily the same thing.

By disobeying the government issued curfew, Rittenhouse was in direct violation of the law. All while illegally possessing a firearm.

this is gonna sound weird, but defending yourself and self defense arent necessarily the same thing.

you can defend your self all day long. you are not allowed to claim self defense in a situation that you violated the law to put yourself in.

the illegal immigrants comparison isnt apt because by all mean, Im assuming the immigrant was minding his own business. And even if he is illegal, hell more than likely still face legal consequences.
