I didn't financially support her and we each had a separate apartment.
Pushing for it is being pushy. Moving on b/c you two have wildly different expectations / timetables is not. What you want matters, too.
The vast, vast majority would say 6 years is crazy, though. Even 1 year is a long time to wait. If she wants that then fine, but most other people won't and it sounds like you didn't, but you were afraid to assert yourself on the matter.
I'm glad you weren't being used financially, at least.

No I just thought that they were so kind to me that they wasted precious work-time just to talk to me and the fact that they were worried about me.

I don't think she'll spread the word around to everyone because she specifically asked for my consent that if she could discuss this with one of our coworkers.

I don't mind because it's always hard for me to talk about these things with others.

Maybe your workplace is super busy and efficient. Every one I've ever been to, there's been plenty of gossip, "water cooler" talk, etc... And if she asked for your consent to tell other people, that sounds at odds w/ your first post:

There's being respectful and being a doormat.

Six years is insane, it wasn't even like you two were "saving it for marriage" since you say it wasn't her first time and you didn't wait till marriage...

Were you providing her a place to live or financially supporting her during any of those six years? Sounds like she was just using you...

You need to start having some standards and not be afraid to value your own needs. If she wasn't willing to sleep w/ you after a while, there's nothing wrong w/ ending things and walking away. You have needs, too.

Also, I'm not sure why you said your "nice" co-workers "did this for me". Did what? Spread embarrassing gossip about your sex life? A lot of women might act disgusting that a nice guy like you could be treated like that. Even wish they could "find a guy like you". But yet....they never just date you. Has to be someone like you, but not you. Almost like it's empty words.

Just value your time and attention more going forward.

LeetCheet posted...
No she has had sex with others before me. She's just really awkward in bed.

And, assuming this wasn't just an excuse to string you along, I'll never understand that kind of reasoning. Ditto for women looking for a long term relationship and want a guy who's experienced.
Like...you're going to be together for the long term. You'll have lots of practice. :) Just have some patience and learn together...

I don't think the government should be doing this at all, but it's China so I guess this is par for the course there.
Even so, 1 hour a day on weekends only is way too strict.
I hope the policy backfires on China as spectacularly as the one child policy did.

I got straight A's and never got in trouble while playing WAY more than 3 hours a week, when I was a kid. If the government came along and restricted my playing time, I'd probably have started getting into trouble just out of spite (gotta do something with that extra spare time...). Hopefully the kids in China are smart enough to understand, too. If their behavior gets WORSE after the change, China will relent. China like to act tough, but if they see the youth falling into delinquency and threatening long term prosperity, they'll cave.

I love how the bus displays blatant misandry w/ a doubled price for men, but the REAL STORY is that one woman was denied entry for not meeting their standards.

I doubt they let in just any dude, either. Despite paying twice as much. If they really were letting in morbidly obese guys in greasy shirts, then I guess the fair thing to do would've been to charge her as if she was a guy. But it explicitly states, separately from the "no big girls" rule, that appearance matters, so I'm guessing they weren't letting in disgusting looking guys.

I must have spent over $500, probably more...
I didn't even want to play 40K, or Space Marines... I preferred Warhammer Fantasy, but they were all doing 40K, and had the other armies already, so I ended up getting roped into it. Only benefit was they had a bunch of basic bolt rifle SM's that I got from my friends for cheap. But I guess that's the equivalent of a gateway drug, lol

Still got my collection, I should probably try to sell them...

The thing that annoyed me the most was that in official tournaments, they required any options / bonus weapons to be on the model. Obviously I'm not going to constantly rip off and glue stuff to my models to meet points thresholds, so it was just a blatant ploy to get people to buy more models...

UBI. Just trillions of dollars every year coming out of thin air. That sounds plausible!
Businesses have made record profits over the last several decades while wages have stagnated.
Maybe we should just tax corporate profits adequately and we'd have that money.
Making the taxes at point of sale is key. american consumers spend the most in the world, any logical company wants to sell shit here. So tax them on point of sale. Doesn't matter if their HQ is in Ireland. Get rid of all the loopholes and tax breaks. There should only be tax breaks for employing legal U.S. residents.
Then we create a sliding scale. If people here are fully employed, tax revenue stays level. As automation and off shoring replace U.S. workers, more tax money rolls in to fund UBI.

adjl posted...
It sure is interesting how upset employers are getting when they have to provide competitive wages because there is actually a viable alternative for people to take when they're met with "don't like these wages? You're welcome to look for something that pays better." It's almost like they've been relying on a non-competitive market to get away with providing pitiful wages for decades, while disingenuously suggesting that the workers are at fault for them making that decision.
I agree wages have stagnated, but this isn't true competition. It's boosted unemployment benefits, an artificial "competitor" created by the government. And it's an especially nasty "competitor" because even if they were equal, it's a choice between working or not working. The former has to be significantly higher than the latter to be "worth it".
I'd much rather hike min. wage up and index it to inflation, and work on putting UBI in place.
This unemployment stuff is grossly uneven and unfair across the workforce.

So, as a teetotaler observer to this fucking stupid country's atrocious alcohol addiction from the side lines, I try to keep track of all the conflicting, hypocritical, and stupid standards regarding alcohol consumption:

  • Alcohol is legal but weed is not, despite alcohol being vastly more harmful, especially to other people.
  • If you act like a complete ass hole while drunk, being drunk is used as an excuse for your behavior.
  • Since apparently this dude not only successfully blamed the bar for his actions, but didn't go to jail for assault and battery, alcohol consumption also absolves you of guilt for committing some felonies.
  • If you drink and drive you should've known better, but the courts will also give you a slap on the wrist for what's basically attempted manslaughter, so... kind of a mixed message.
  • If you're a woman and get drunk and a man sleeps with you, then you are a helpless victim who was sexually assaulted.
  • If you're a man and get drunk and a woman sleeps with you, then it's your own dumb fault.
  • If both parties are drunk and sleep together, it's the guy's fault.
It's just so fascinating (disgusting) that depending on the crime you commit while drunk, who you commit it against, and whether or not it's a topic that the court system has decided to not give a shit about, you're either 100% responsible for your own choice to get drunk and are a monster OR you're an innocent victim of the demon rum and it'd be cruel to penalize you for what you did while under its influence.

I don't understand your concerns...
With no HOA, who cares if people bitch about it, they can't do anything.
And resale value doesn't matter unless you're planning to sell soon. Could always landscape before putting it up for sale years down the road.

There's low maintenance grasses and plants out there, depending on your region. Usually the common downside is they're "creeping" plants so you have to plan the perimeters to keep the roots from spreading to your neighbors, but that's not too hard.

Zoysia grass is pretty cool. Aside from creeping, the main downside is it's brown for half the year. But it grows slow and takes less water.

https://grasspad.com/zoysia-grass-the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly/

Here's some other groundcovers I've got on my list to consider:

https://www.thespruce.com/vinca-minor-vines-2132217
https://www.thespruce.com/types-of-creeping-thyme-2132329
https://www.thespruce.com/blue-star-creeper-plant-profile-4846530

Obviously what you can use depends on your hardiness zone and needs. You can mix and match, too (like Zoysia grass does poorly under trees or on shade but vinca minor handles it fine, so you can have different sections of ground cover).

https://www.stepables.com/

(between being allergic to cut grass and being lazy and not wanting to deal w/ lawn maintenance, I've done a fair amount of searching on this topic, lol)

One of the many reason I've been trying to find somewhere to live w/o an HOA (it's a Herculean task, sadly) is b/c I want a steppable groundcover, like a meadow. Yup. One of the only democracies in the Middle East, solid ally, and held to a ridiculous standard that other similarly or more powerful countries in the region like Saudi Arabia and Iran aren't even held close to.
It's also pretty cool that they allow access to religious sites for all of the major Abrahamic religions (and Dome of the Rock is actually controlled by Muslims, I think Jordanian specifically?), while as before they controlled Jerusalem, that was NOT the case.

Are you ignoring the citizens that are Palestinian, or do you not consider them citizens of Israel?
If you're talking about Gaza and West Bank, they're not part of Israel and don't consider themselves to be, either.
If you're talking about Muslims actually living in Israel, they are citizens with voting rights and political parties in the Knesset.

Democrats. Time for some equality! Not that I expect it... Women will still be far less likely to be drafted and far less likely to be put in direct combat positions.
But it's a step in the right direction.

The draft shouldn't exist
The draft will always effectively exist. Even if we scrapped it, the second we NEEDED it, you can bet they'd rapidly re-institute it.

Full Throttle posted... It passed overwhelmingly in the committee on a 23-3 vote where Hawley, Cotton and Democrat, Elizabeth Warren voted no.
Man, Warren tricked me so bad. Used to be such a fan of hers and wanted her to be president some day. But she's a damn hypocrite on so much stuff, should've realized that after the first time she left Bernie hanging in 2016...

Damn, businesses should hire nothing but black women, think of all the labor savings they could bank!

The wage gap is such a stupid, massively debunked myth and it's really grating how it's still pushed.
Compare same job, same experience level and years, same hours worked, etc... and there is no "gap".
Compare a part time receptionist against lawyer with 20 years on the job, and...you get a Kamala Harris talking point.

I mean, are 1-hi knock outs not a thing?

Like in Judo, I would assume it does not matter how many points you accumulated and you are the minimum number of points (1 yuko in judo) away from victory, if your opponent manages to throw you on your back in one motion, you still lost.
Well, that's the really kicker here (heh).
The guy that got knocked out won the match.
I agree, you could be up 10-1 or whatever and then get KO'd, you should lose.
But he was losing on points AND got knocked the fuck out and still wins by DQ b/c apparently it's his opponent's fault that he ducked into a chest kick.

He just gets hit on the chest and falls over. His eyes are still open afterwards. Where does the knocked unconscious come in?

Hamedi's final kick sent Ganjzadeh to the tatami and the Saudi into celebration mode before the mood in the Nippon Budokan arena turned. Medics rushed to Ganjzadeh's side, placing an oxygen mask on the Iranian and removing him on a stretcher.
After a few minutes of discussion among the officials on the sidelines, the referee called the match for Ganjzadeh by disqualifying Hamedi for an unchecked attack, which is not allowed under karate's Olympic rules.
Ganjzadeh returned later for the medal ceremony, walking normally. Both he and Hamedi were expressionless as they stepped up to the podium and collected their medals.

He got hit in the neck apparently, not the head or chest. And yeah, he didn't seem that bad and was back for the podium seemingly fine. But they put him on a stretcher and stuff, probably overreacted. Which is fine for medical care, not fine for judging of a gold medal match...

Not available in my country.
Oh. It's the NBC Olympics youtube channel, probably not available outside of the U.S....

It's the 75 kg men's gold medal match in Kumite between Tareg Hamedi of Saudi Arabia vs. Sajad Ganjzadeh of Iran, if you want to find it on whatever service has Olympics coverage in your country... Otherwise, I described what happened.

If you want, skip to 4:19 for the big moment.
EDIT: Ugh, won't allow playing as an embedded video

The Saudi, Hamedi, lost to the Iranian, Sajad, after dominating the match, because he knocked him out. No, not Sajad knocking him out. The Hamedi knocked out Sajad. He got disqualified because he "kicked too hard"! Are you fucking kidding me?! That shouldn't even be a thing, but that aside... Sajad literally leaned into the kick, which looked pretty tame and controlled and actually aimed at the chest.
And while I believe he was at least briefly knocked out, that could've easily been an intentional flop as a gambit since he was losing badly anyway.
What an absolute joke of a competition...
