As an aside to the wrasslin' geekery, has anybody watched Altered Carbon? I'm 2 episodes from the end, and I'm not sure what to make of it yet.

Currently going through 90s Outer Limits and 00s Twilight Zone episodes again >_> Stumbled onto the episodes again after watching a Rod Serling-written episode of Suspense (terrible episode, but probably also an awful show -- granted, it was an earlier anthology which took its cues from the old radio show upon which it was based, so I should cut it some slack).

My queue is massive at this point, since I keep falling for bite-sized content. There are a few shows where I still need to watch the last few seasons, but I tend to put it off to binge everything at once.

In general, the perception of time kinda limits what I do with my time -- ie, I think, well, I'll do something for a little while but I don't have enough time to do something else.

There's a big, big recommendation from me for Altered Carbon.

Believe me, I'm picky as f*** when it comes to a lot of content, and this is a high quality show. It's a show that takes "tv shows as long form movies" and is great.

For visuals and sass alone it's worth it, but it is honestly really great. Interesting social commentary, fun transhumanist stuff, and it's a decent story.

I almost regret saying this, but I wish they'd spent a little more time on world building. There's only been like 2 random references to finding the alien tech that gave them the stacks and I think that's a bigger story than what they're working now.

I'm a fan of it, I don't like explicit background building in my stories.

I honestly would have preferred a backflash-free version of this, that way we never actually see of the outer planets, and it's just left to the imagination. Every shot of it tends to have a, "it's the earth, but with twoooo moooooons" feel, I need more alien in my alien stuff.

Oh, I'm piecemealing it with my gf, we're 3 episodes in right now. Also I read the book maybe a few years ago when I was deeper into Eclipse Phase (which was mostly based on Altered Carbon, but further in the future and kinda post-apocalyptic).

I'm just happy it exists and is a good show, the story is the same, but the visuals are top notch and the metaphysical ideas (woo transhumanism) are shown off really nicely.
Thankfully there's not as much hand holding as the story could have gone, because there's some really fun stuff you can do with the ideas.

Probably has something to do with "being triggered" is an actual medical term that's been co-opted and the term has been diluted because of that.
