The inherent problem with centrally-planned operations like this, is that they you want you're intended to want, instead of responding to what the marketplace actually wants.

It's fine of you're establishing a baseline parallel to a market, but attempting to replace the market entirely just leads to breadlines, and a (black) market establishing itself anyway.

That's why we need to do it at a more communal or community level. If we decentralize the means of energy production, for example, by settling on things like solar panels and wind farms over centrally-located nuclear power plants...any community can build its own infrastructure and plug into a broader smart grid if desired.

Anyone else can continue to use the centrally-located power source if they want to.

Same concept applies to ISPs. You can continue to use Comcast if you want, but if some community collectively decides to build its own ISP that is better service and speed for a fraction of the cost, then great!

Little by little we decentralize things and remove the profit motive by making it inefficient to even profit anymore. Eventually we get Star Trek.

Assuming most people are truthful in this thread (but it's the internets lulz) and removing the extremes, there's actually quite a wide range of incomes here and definitely a higher proportion of users on >$100k than expected given the number of posts which are anti-wealthy people... not to say that earning $100k qualifies as wealthy but rather it's just an indicator of someone who is on a decent income and seems to go against the numerous topics which are anti-billionaires/pro-tax/pro-social security/etc.

It tends to be the unmotivated CEmen making like 10k a year who are making those topics.
