Mid Fodder for MJ solely due to exposure and the fact that many of the 30+ Gfaqs users will clearly remember the Bulls dynasty led by Mike. And of course Space Jam.

I do think Nero makes High Fodder - he seemed to be better-liked in DMC5 than he was in 4 all those years ago.

Agree with Mid Fodder for Megatron. He is recognizable by name and was a generally "cool" villain (effectiveness and later movie appearances aside). But I feel that he lacks a single iconic design, which Optimus has.

Also I will nominate Charles Barkley (Shut Up and Jam) for Re-ranking. His ranking was very early on before the rating tiers were clearly established, and Shut Up and Jam Gaiden was the cited reason for him being Mid Fodder. While Gaiden is relevant to this site due to being an RPG it is still a pretty niche game, so I think it isn't actually enough to get Chuck out of Low Fodder range.

Mid Fodder for Joanna and Merchant, and I will (barely) give Snape High Fodder.

Looking back at Joanna's contest history, she wasn't completely terrible - she beat Cortana pretty convincingly so I don't think she'd be low fodder. With how highly the site regards Goldeneye, I would believe that there are still some fans of Perfect Dark lurking around who would vote for Joanna. Not sure if she gets TJF boost though.

Merchant I think would have hit high fodder years ago, but with the decline of RE4, the "watchu buyin? watchu sellin?" meme will not get him nearly as far.

Snape I think only gets high fodder due to Alan Rickman's incredibly memorable portrayal of him in the HP movies. He might also benefit from some mid-2000s meme videos like The Mysterious Ticking Noise. As a character, Snape is very polarizing and may get some anti-votes due to having "weak" motives for his mistreatment of students at Hogwarts.

Jason Mars - LAW Fodder. The Press X to JASON meme is more associated with his dad Ethan than the kid himself. Plus Jason has a pretty small role in the game that is memorable for the wrong reasons. Basically this suicidal idiot runs away from his own birthday party for no reason and charges directly into oncoming traffic. Ethan gets hit trying to save him, but the dumbass kid dies anyway and Ethan falls into depression. So I can be reasonably sure that the few remaining fans of Heavy Rain hate this kid.

Kane - as someone who knows next to nothing about wrestling, I guess Mid Fodder? Gfaqs likes wrestling well enough and Kane's onstage persona seems popular. He's also an actual mayor. . . can we get Kane vs Haggar in a contest?

Irvine - Mid Fodder. He strikes me as the most obscure and forgotten playable character from FF8, and the casanova archetype he embodies is well played-out at this point. He's had some playable appearances in spinoffs but not enough to really matter.

Low Fodder for Von Karma. I think I might have said mid the first time, but low definitely seems correct based on the placement of Godot and Edgeworth. He was only a major character in Ace Attorney 1, and I can't see him having much of a fanbase on the site as an antagonistic old man, despite his importance to the series.

Sherry is tough because her strength might be pic-dependent. I think she would be stuck at mid fodder if she got an RE6 pic, but I assume she will get an RE2 Remake pic. Right now that game is still fresh and will likely stay relevant until RE3 comes out, so I think Sherry gets to High Fodder. A year from now she might be back at mid.

Helmaroc King is Mid Fodder as a very recognizable boss character from Wind Waker, but no one will care for him beyond that, since he's pretty much just a big bad bird that appears a lot in the game.

Seto Kaiba is High Fodder because Screw the Rules! He has memes!

Nick Fury is High Muthafodder for being a cool Sam Jackson character with a big part in the MCU, who deserves his own movie at this point.

Elena is Mid Fodder due to being the female version of Nathan, and will probably be equal with Chloe.

Krystal is Mid Fodder - I think the hate for her being a Mary Sue has died down since the main offender (Star Fox Assault) is an old and forgotten game now. I doubt she will get any boost from TJF on Gamefaqs of all places, so she'll likely just hit mid based on having a recognizable and distinctive design. And she was handled better in SF Command.

nominate Urbosa (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) for re-ranking. I think that High Fodder seems more appropriate of a ranking for her, considering the limited role the Champions have in BotW. Sidon is the only one that makes sense being above that due to memes. And I don't think she's stronger than Mipha, who was put at high fodder.

I say High Fodder for Poison Ivy - she's a villain with a lot of visibility in Batman games and animated series (she was also pretty hot in Batman & Robin, admittedly). She's got TJF and is just visually appealing in general, plus her relationship with Harley Quinn is. . . fairly popular to say the least. Fodder line is possible here, but I am not sure how her particular brand of environmentalism will go over on the site, and I also think her strength could be somewhat pic-reliant.

Mid Fodder for Clyde. Extremely recognizable character that no one will really have strong feelings for.

Hayley might have been worth something back in 2010 when she first made her Guitar Hero appearance, but I don't think the site cares too much nowadays since Hayley has grown up and Paramore became more of a pop group. I'll give her Low Fodder since there's probably still a small fanbase for her and Paramore on the site. And some voters almost certainly would've had a CrushCrushCrush on her back in the day, which will also help.

And I think now's as good a time as any to nominate Nemesis (Resident Evil 3) for re-ranking. RE3 Remake has been officially announced and is not too far way, so I think Nemy deserves a second look.

nominate Catwoman for Re-ranking. I think the reasoning given for putting her at Mid Fodder was that there isn't a definitive design for her, and possible anti-votes based on the terrible Halle Berry version of Selina. I don't think she actually gets anti-voted for that (memeing on the basketball scene might actually help her). And I think her Dark Knight Rises, Arkham and Injustice designs and roles are similar enough to provide consistency for a pic. Add TJF to that and I think she is at least High Fodder.

Mid Fodder for James and Schala.

James McCloud is pretty well-known due to appearing in Star Fox 64 and looks like his son Fox (but cooler), so he will get some votes. But he has an incredibly limited role in the series, mostly just being "Fox's disappeared dad".

Schala has a relatively small role in Chrono Trigger, and will mostly be voted for by dedicated fans of the Chrono series since she has a vital role in the overarching plot of the series and those who have a soft spot for the kind-to-a-fault girl.

I will give Dumbledore Mid Fodder too, but high is possible. He is a very well-known character, but I think opinions on him will be very mixed. Some may see him as a cool old guy and the biggest badass in the Harry Potter universe, others will see him as an irresponsible headmaster and ineffective mentor who constantly put Harry and his other students in danger. I don't think he appeals that much to the site though.

High Fodder for Mother Brain. She is an iconic antagonist and the end boss of a lot of popular Metroid games, so I think she'll make high fodder despite not being much of a character in the true sense.

Agree with High Fodder for Red Mage, albeit barely. One of the first jobs available in the series, and has recurred in a multitude of games, but I am not sure how popular of a pick Red Mage is for a party member.

For Claus and Dick Tracy, I think both are Low Fodder, not LAW.

Regarding Claus, I think he resembles Lucas enough to have some semblance of strength similar to him.

Dick Tracy is someone most of the older-trending site will know, and has a film noir look that I think will appeal to voters. And I'm sure some people have seen the 1990 movie due to its stylistic similarity to 1989's Batman - and it has freaking Al Pacino and Madonna in it. Also the Great Piggy Bank Robbery episode of Looney Tunes, which parodies Dick Tracy, is pretty well-known.

Mid Fodder for Cortana. She's hot (and technically naked) and everyone knows her - but Gfaqs REALLY just does not care about Halo. Case and point is Master Chief barely looking like a fodder line character.

Low Fodder for Ring. I'm not really sure how the generic collectible from the Sonic games will attract joke votes in the same vein as the ? Block, or even the FFVII chair.

Low Fodder for Luca Blight. He looked bad back in 2005, and the Suikoden series hasn't had a game release in NA since 2009. And Luca's game is especially obscure to boot.

To me mid fodder seems low for such a recognizable character, who makes major movie appearances every few years and is the most iconic giant movie monster of all time. And there are also a LOT of Godzilla games including some that likely have a fanbase on the site (Destroy All Monsters).

I don't see many people caring for Trevelyan despite being in Goldeneye - people were not playing the game for its robust story and in fact probably have a negative view of the characters in the game minus Bond himself. And the remake no longer had access to Sean Bean's likeness for Trevelyan, likely diluting his strength further. Low Fodder for him.

Mid Fodder for Stay Puft on account of nostalgia for Ghostbusters, and probably being the single most recognizable character from the franchise.

Mid Fodder for Peppy. The only reasons I see people caring about him are DO A BARREL ROLL and USE THE BOOST TO GET THROUGH, which are pretty decent reasons to be fair.

High Fodder for the re-rank of Venom. By far the most popular Spidey villain, with many playable game appearances under his belt and a not COMPLETELY terrible solo movie. Said movie also helps put Venom's joke of an appearance in the Raimi series behind him.

High Fodder for the pair of DBZ main antagonists. I don't see Frieza or Cell being as popular as Piccolo, but both are iconic villains with a ton of screen time and game appearances. Frieza has more recent relevance due to being a major player in the Tournament of Power arc of DBZ Super, but I think he will suffer a bit due to not being a "cool"-looking character. Cell will likely find more support from the site.

Mid Fodder for Krauser. He's a memorable character from a game the site really likes in RE4. Krauser maybe could have been high fodder once upon a time, but RE4's strength has likely fallen on the site judging by Leon's drop in CBX.

I think I went high fodder for Kuja last time, and I will stick with High Fodder. He was mid back in 2005, but FFIX was not yet held in high regard at that time. He is kind of a sympathetic villain and has a strong connection to Zidane, so I think he has enough to get to high.

As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Note that LAW Fodder is meant to be a tier reserved for the weakest possible characters to put into a contest. A character will only be placed there if at least 3/4ths of the voters for that day agree on the LAW Fodder rating, and no ratings above Low Fodder are given. If either of those conditions are not met, the character will not be eligible for the LAW Fodder tier.

Agree with these rankings. Trunks is one of the more popular DBZ characters, and had an extremely memorable debut in the series effortlessly destroying a revived Frieza. And he's a cool purple-haired guy with a fucking sword.

I'm not convinced that people care about Dalton despite him being from CT. He doesn't have that big of a role in the game and he's a gigantic jerk too. I don't think his design will be enough to make him mid fodder either.

I'm definitely not convinced that Pokey has a fanbase. His design is unappealing, and acts like an immature and utterly vile person in Earthbound. Mother 3 won't really matter due to being JP-only.

I will also nominate Kuja for re-ranking.
