She only has 5 minutes until she dies. Even if she sniffs it out in 2 minutes, that's still 2 minutes of Liquid leading her down the wrong path to get to them. So instead of having to clear the terrain in 5 minutes, she has to clear the terrain in 3 minutes. Every minute matters, and every minute she's listening to Liquid is wasted, even if she does eventually figure it out.

It doesn't say when he dies, just he will die. Eventually. And Raiden tanks seriously stupid stuff and survives in MGS4 when he really shouldn't.

Well, how long do you think the timer runs, and is it the nerfed version seen here? Because it doesn't say when it happens, and this is such a dinky terrain that even Zeratul can't run away forever.

There's no timer on the drain to kill him.

Anyway, Raiden is just that tanky to tank a tanker that he's not going to bleed out any time soon.

I can dredge up some info on Raiden's bioinformatics but he has very great tracking abilities.

Aight sorry. This is long be long. Going to be jumping around alot (wrote this several times while being sick RIP), but Raiden is very good on this terrain. It's really small (2D), so the enemy team of 6 is really going to get in the way of themselves here. Raiden also likes fighting in close combat, really excels at it in fact. By the time the enemy team can assess what a threat Raiden is...they'll all be dead.

Raiden vs Vamp:

He basically no sells pain, so in this fight starting at 50% and bleeding out actually may be to his advantage. He should take all his crueler intentions into battle faster (Ripper Jack most likely). He also fights adeptly with his sword in his foot which is awesome. Keep in mind he impales himself several times and lives through it. TANKY!

Raiden vs. 20 mooks with no arms:

Yeah he's still going at it. He's still lived too. He lost an arm from the tanker I assume, but he's still Raiden. So basically, Raiden is super strong, and super tanky. He's gonna drop health from his ability at a very slow rate. If V can do it, then Raiden can do it without a sweat basically.

What else can Raiden do to stave off his health depleting? Well he runs super fucking fast, and down buildings:

Anyway all this happens before he gets his cybernetics upgraded. Also some noteable things that Raiden has that he didn't in previous appearances:

-Full Complement of grenades, so he can use EMP grenades to full effectiveness against a largely robotic team that's clumped up,
-No meter requirements for Blade/Ripper Mode: this is full cutscene Raiden,
-Muramasa blade, which completely wrecks all machinery basically.

Anyway besides that "can he fight under these conditions?" which is a definite YES, Raiden has experience in fighting against cloaked cyborgs:

having watched this for a bit, im having trouble seeing mr k rule navigate this terrain effectively

Also keep in mind, Gordon has navigated this place successfully.

Samus has to stay on her guard with all the booby traps, which can catch her off guard when dealing with firelights.

And also, my team starts on at the Church, IIRC, which is a perfect area for Jinx to guerilla warfare, jumping from house to house. She can get an early jump on the enemies as they start outside, IIRC*

*been 20 years since playing hl2, may be incorrect

Releasing them through Ravenholm, a notoriously claustrophobic area, is definitely something that can catch even Samus off guard.

It wouldn't work so well as in an open field, I admit, but this isn't one.

Keep in mind that there's PLENTY, PLENTY of stuff for Gordon to throw around. If you watched my video it bisects a mook like butter and a knife. He's going to die a really sad death especially at 'half health' (until reviving).

Either samus has her helmet to use her x-ray scanner
OR
King Kruel has the command visor, and doesn't have the helmet, so it's effectively useless without the functionality of the helmet.

It's one of the other, no mercs magic here.

But yeah IMO (lol), she gave away a visor, which comes with her hat, and she doesn't have a backup hat to use the x-ray vision anyway.

Well even if Samus has her helmet, it can be easily detached with the Gravity Gun. It'd be like disarming someone's gun with it - they might be organic but they have it in their hands. It'll suck it up basically.

its fairly mid ranged, but keep in mind that ravenholm has alot of buildings, so any sort of range advantage is negated from it (as opposed to an open field)

TL;DR: Gravity Gun Stronk.

Alright so I think this is going to be a real fun fight, and one decisively in my favor. We're in Ravenholm, which is a terrain with boobytraps and all sorts of fun things for the carry of the fight, Gordon, to do some work. Saw blades, explosive barrels, you name it, are all excellent weapons for the Gravity Gun to utilize. Gordon can't go exactly toe to toe with Samus, but his HEV suit is well suited for the wacky sci-fi attacks that Samus can throw out. And rockets? The Gravity Gun got that covered, he can repel those with the Gravity Gun. Gordon's tankiness and utility is not to be slept on here!

But first, I'd like to point to the fact the three key accidents Samus made:

1) She gave away her Command visor to K Rool. At first glance, 'so what?' But actually this poses the concern. If she's loaning out her visor, it comes attached to her helmet of course. Which is removable. So King K Rool gets Samus' visor, along with the helmet. This leaves Samus and her pretty face exposed. Need I mention saw blades being hurled like this?

Bye bye Samus' head. Or K Rool's body, really.

2) Samus' suit is made completely out of metal, so she's prone to being ragdolled by the Gravity Gun as well. Not really her fault, but totally valid that Gordon can fuck with her.

3) Hilariously enough, the Gravity Gun can yoink away the helmet and visor from K Rules gigantic head and used as a weapon against himself.

The terrain has plenty of openness-while it's also great for guerilla warfare. Jinx can jump from building to building, peppering down her enemies with her machine gun and rockets, zapper and Firelights (which are basically grenades). K Rool is going to have a very, very difficult time navigating Ravenholm's tight quarters. They'll also be making a racket as a woman in a Gravity Suit and a gigantic crocodile are pretty noisy, meaning ambushes are pretty well in my team's favor.

Sagat is a bulletsponge, and while he can't go toe to toe with Samus, he certainly can keep K Rool occupied from using the Gunship - which isn't so great in this environment considering how many buildings there are. The gunship has an equal chance of landing friendly fire IMO.
