In both cases you have a lot of people living in misery while the leaders drive around in luxury cars (Stalin had quite the collection).

In both case information is violently repressed and the press only print what the government want them to print.

In both cases you are likely to be watched and spied on, and be locked up / killed if you are suspected of being disloyal to the government.

In both cases you can have a decent life if you're a relative of a wealthy industrialist or a party elite, but most people don't.

The ideology behind both couldn't be more different... but in practice they aren't as different as people would like to think.
