People that would have been considered shy or reserved are now "on the spectrum".The barrier is there regardless of whether you are aware of it or not because of how it effects your brain. I went up until I was 21 until my gf spilled the beans to me about how she and my mother discussed my diagnosis when I was a kid. If anything, knowing I was on the spectrum enabled me to strengthen my weaknesses (one of them being social ineptitude). [LFAQs-redacted-quote] In my early twenties when my girlfriend told me my mom had been keeping my autistic diagnosis from me, I went for help online. Since social interactions don't come naturally I had to basically study them as if it was for a test. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos like Charisma on Command. I learned about eye contact, posture, body language, dictation and many other things. At the time I worked at Walmart so there was plenty of customers and other employees to practice on. I'm still terrible at group settings and shell up because I don't want to make an ass of myself. There's still lots I could learn, like smiling another facial expressions. I tend to avoid going out. Also I'm great at talking to women just not flirting with them because I miss too many social cues and don't want to harass or make them uncomfortable unintentionally. I use mine primarily as an Indie machine so performance usually isnt an issue BUT what I learned recently is that if you do want to play any 3D games, I highly suggest going to performance settings (in steam deck) and pick the -per game- option an limit framerate to 30. Not only will you dramatically reduce heat but you will get a great performance boost too.
