I always hated this prompt when I was in high school. Unless you had a close relative or friend die, there's really not much there for most kids. And if there is something there, it's probably too traumatic or personal for them to write a stupid paper for a class about (ie rape, pregancy, physical or sexual abuse, drug use, coming out etc.) So instead, everyone just makes up B.S. to fill three pages: 9/11, Columbine, when they broke their leg, when they fought with their friend or girlfriend/boyfriend, or something else that didn't really make them change at all.

When you're in high school and college you basically are in a perpetual state of change/figuring out who you are, so this assignment is really just a huge waste of time. Only a few people will actually have had life altering events happen to them before the age of 21.

New Super Mario Bros is great, aside from being too easy.

Yeah. I mean, Chrono Cross is an absolutely beautiful game, with great graphics and the best original soundtrack of all time. At points, its storyline and characters (though there are too many) are very engaging. It just completely trashes the tone set by the original game unfortunately, for some sadistic reason.

And you forgot to mention the Dalton/Masamune/Porre stuff. I maintain that there needs to be a third Chrono game to set the world right again.

If they had left Phoenix out of Apollo Justice entirely, the game would've been decent. It just would've been kind of bland instead of offensive.

Apollo Justice

Both of these games are fine in their own right, particularly Chrono Cross, but by including characters from the previous games detract from the original's resolution. Apollo Justice especially would be a good game (minus 4-3) if Hobonix just... wasn't Phoenix. Chrono Cross makes it impossible to play the original with the same sense of optimism because of what you learn of the fate of some of its characters.

Good for you? It's an experience that every teacher has to deal with at least once. Unfortunately, teaching isn't just about the material. It's about classroom management.

And to say everyone is going to fail because a few people are screwing around on laptops is silly. The people who care will do well, the people who don't probably won't.

I never said "everyone is going to fail." It is more likely that people who don't pay attention in class and browse the internet will do poorly. If there is a gifted student who can afford to skip lectures and look at the internet during the lecture, that may be fine for him, but it sets an example that the teacher will let poor students get away with it -- poor students who aren't going to do well unless they pay attention. So all students have to abide by the same rules.

Although generally, in a small classroom, I almost never see anyone screwing around unless the teacher/class is incredibly terrible.

A "terrible" teacher/class is different things to different people. I see your point though, and I'm mostly talking about the larger lecture classes. I rarely see it happen in my smaller classes.

I just find it funny how your viewpoint is PEOPLE NEED TO DO WELL, yet they only are allowed to do well your way. I thought teachers were supposed to understand how certain people learn better in different ways?

I'm not saying people have to learn in one specific way. There are rules, however.

If you have bad handwriting or are slow with a pen, that's tough. Get faster, or bring a cassette recorder.

The other side to that coin though, is if they want to sit on their laptop and goof off during class what's it to you? As long as they're not being disruptive. They're the ones paying for the class. Or if not, they're still the ones that are going to have to take the test/write the term paper/do the project in the end, so they're only hurting themselves.

I mean I'm not going to lie. There were some days in undergrad where I went to class and sat on facebook the whole time. But I still went to class that day because even though I just sat online I could still hear what the prof. had to say.

Enough with this crap. They're students. I'm a teacher. It's my job. They're not only hurting themselves, they're hurting my job performance and my authority. Just because you paid to go to school that doesn't mean you're allowed to do whatever you want there. Especially if you're just a T.A., it is not good for you to just have a ton of students fail. It's their fault, but it's my responsibility.

Yeah, UC2 has one of the most gripping intros in all of gaming, I think. It's weird to me that people "can't get into it".

First, 9/10.

Second, the train stuff is okay, but the tutorial "sneak through the museum" chapter is really boring, I think. Thankfully, that's really the only boring part of the game. I understand that it's there for people to get used to the controls, but I think it's just unnecessary. There's no reason people couldn't have gotten used to the controls in Borneo or something.

That's actually one of the best lists I've ever seen if you discount order. I'd bump Batman Begins,Hellboy 1 and MAYBE The Incredible Hulk to average and put The Puisher (2004) in Good and add a couple of the unmentioned to offensive. Dunno where I'd put Watchman and V though.

Watchmen and V (which I didn't include because they're not really "superhero" comic movies) would probably both be in Average, imo. They're both sort of entertaining, but are far far worse than their comic counterpart - they're both overlong and melodramatic too.

First Class really isn't that great - I don't get why it's so beloved. You have to ignore the comic books and just take it as a prequel to the movie universe. That's fine. But even then, it has some issues with pace and character development. I'll grant you that McAvoy and Fassbender were really good, but no one else was. Everyone is stupidly one-dimensional and interesting characters like Moira and the White Queen are reduced to sex objects. The actual "First Class" is basically an afterthought to Prof/Magneto/Mystique.

Still the second best X-Men movie though - The first X-Men movie is unwatchable. X-Men 2 is still one of the top 3 comic book movies ever.

Man, I hate anti-venom. His design, his name, all the storylines he's been in... they're all LAME.


Megaman should've been in. Is there some legal reason they can't use Megaman in this game or something? It just doesn't make sense. You can make any argument that you want (Zero is basically Megaman, his MvC2 moveset sucked, etc.) but it still doesn't preclude the fact that Capcom should've developed a new Megaman model specifically for this game.

Agreed. Obama has pretty much had his hands tied his entire administration. Every idea he's had gets cut and re-shaped into something less than it was due to congress.

This is a non-issue. The original Ultimate Peter Parker died a good death in a well-written story. Of course they're going to replace him. They're going to eventually explain his powers. Him being from a different background than Peter will lead to different and interesting stories, as opposed to just "picking up where they left off."
