If cooked correctly, Brussels sprouts can be really amazing. If cooked wrong, they can be absolutely horrible.

Unfortunately, most people tend to cook them wrong. Sauteed is generally the best, though some people have good luck with grilling or roasting. If you want to boil them, just save yourself the trouble and toss them right in the garbage can.

I like to take a pound of bacon and cut it into small pieces, then cook it until the bacon is crisp and most of the fat has been rendered out. Remove the meat, leaving the bacon grease in the pan. Saute diced onion and halved Brussels sprouts until the sprouts have just a bit of resistance when you bite into one (al dente). Remove from heat and mix the bacon pieces back into the pan. Serve over white rice.

You can also serve it over pasta, but in this case, save about 1/4 cup of the pasta water and stir that into the sprouts at the end to make a sort of sauce.

And you can make it vegetarian by omitting the bacon and using butter instead of the bacon grease. Or use olive oil to go completely vegan.

I have changed several people's minds about Brussels sprouts with this recipe.

I put off mowing for as long as I could.

And now it's going to be an entire week of rain starting this evening and the mower won't start. I'm going to have to call the mechanic and have them come out and tow it back to the shop for repair.

tl;dr: David saw Bathsheba taking a bath, slept with her and got her pregnant. Then he had her husband killed so he could marry her.

Goats win battle with council to roam town and cause havoc in town where residents wanted them shot

A herd of mischievous goats have been given the freedom of the Llandudno after the local council ruled they cannot be legally contained. Conwy Council ruled that despite the goats' unruly behavior, it is landowners' responsibility to protect their properties from the roaming Great Orme Goats.

A report released by the council said that they would not confine the Kashmir goats using fencing for fear it will become solely responsible for the animals welfare. The report also detailed how shooting had in the past been considered as a way to control the goats in the 1990s.

According to North Wales Live the report reads: A working group, comprising Council officers, Countryside Council for Wales, Mostyn Estates, and a local veterinary surgeon, considered the various options.

It recommended that the population of feral goats be controlled through shooting individual animals, targeting ones that were sick, injured, or very elderly. This recommendation was supported by the Great Orme Country Park Working Party and Aberconwy Borough Councils planning committee but was overturned at full council following a large public demonstration at Bodlondeb.

The goats have roamed the town and its accompanying mountains for over 100 years but shot to fame in 2020 when they took over the streets emptied by the coronavirus lockdown. More than 200 of the goats regularly leave the Great Orme headland to wander down into the streets.

The report reads: The goats of Llandudno have roamed in a wild state for over 100 years and were originally a gift to Lord Mostyn from Queen Victoria. Although once in the ownership of Lord Mostyn, the goats have reverted to a wild state and are therefore now regarded as wild animals. No one person or organisation is legally responsible for the goat populations of Llandudno, and they may only become someones property if they are confined.

As the goats are feral animals, it is therefore not the councils legal responsibility to keep the goats on the Great Orme by way of fencing or containment. If damage is being caused to adjoining properties, the onus is therefore on those property owners to keep the goats out. A landowner has a legal entitlement to act on behalf of an animals welfare if a wild animal is in distress whilst on their land.

I have a Greenworks 40V mower. I use it to mow the smaller areas where my 60" Hustler Super Z can't fit. I like that I can use the batteries for other tools like a chain saw, string trimmer, snow blower, backpack sprayer, even a portable fan and work light. And there's practically no maintenance compared to a gas mower. No spark plugs, no carburetor, no messy oil or gas. Only thing you ever have to deal with is the blades, but that's true of any mower. And it's SOOOOOO easy to use. Very light weight, especially if you mulch with it instead of bag. And it's push-button start. No yanking on a rope and hoping it will catch.

A friend of mine bought an Ego 56V zero turn mower. It was crazy expensive (about $5000, and that's with only 4 batteries), but it was still cheaper than the Super Z. But it's only a 42", so it would take a lot longer to do my place. While it can do "up to 2 acres" (with a full compliment of 6 batteries), I think the area I mow is a bit larger than that, since I also mow the grass along the road for half a mile.

Goat cheese requires goat milk, which requires goat babies. And while I've had goat babies, I usually let the kids have the milk.

One of the biggest factors in your credit score is the average age of your accounts. You want to get a credit card from a reliable institution at as young an age as possible and keep that card for as long as possible. You don't need to use it but a few times a year (just to keep it active, buy a pack of gum or a candy bar or the like. You don't need to carry a balance.) Opening a new account will kill your average, but the older your oldest account is, the less this will hurt you.
