TopicHow do I get my Roku to see my 5GHz connection?

I had a similar issue with my roborock- the device simply didn't support 5ghz. it kept accidentally connecting to it and fritzing out

My solution was to go into my router's settings and change the 5gz version to have a completely name, so I could explicitly define which one the roborock would connect to

If your question is "is stealth archery still the objectively correct option in all situations", the answer is yes.
What i mean is... I think my old 2012 character is sitting there with stealth and archery optimally maxed out, and I get the impression that if they level up at all, they'll only get weaker relative to the world/ the enemies in it

Has anyone here played skyrim at high levels?

That is, after you've already capped your important skills, but enemies keep getting stronger

I'm curious if the correct strategies change

surprisingly, the ending pairing makes sense to me

i think most people in real life end up meeting someone they didn't know when they were 13 and don't have a bunch of insane toxic baggage with. and in the end, as much as we want people as messed up as we are, the emotionally stable are great for the emotionally unstable. i do wish asuka found more personal resolution or progress and gotten a happy ending, but that's par for the course. i feel like she always gets the short end of the stick narratively, which is bs. it's a long fall from the character who was originally going to be the main character of the series.

and sure, kensuke and asuka could have been a couple, but it doesn't really matter. shit happens in 15 years. fans are weird.

Just finished 1.11 and it sure was a recap alright lol.
yeah. 1.11 felt like almost a complete waste. I'm glad i didn't let it deter me. the only thing that i remember feeling at all important was rei being characterized a tiny bit differently.

you might find 2.22 more worthwhile.

I liked 1.11.

I LOVED 2.22 and consider it possibly the best Eva entry ever.

I wasnt a fan of 3.33 and consider it possibly the worst Eva entry ever.

So hopefully that means good things for 3.0+1.0.
everything evangelion is deeply flawed, but if i had to rank things i've seen, it'd be

EoE > 2.22 >= NGE > 4.0 > 1.11 > 3.33

I loved certain parts of 4.0 so much, but i wanted to hit the snooze button through most of the fights and the obligatory evangelion technobabble. this stuff was passe when gurren lagann lampooned it back in 2007...

I mean there are definitely a few shows that took the Eva influence and did it perfectly well, or at least decently. If you want to get REAL trickle down, you can even give Eva credit for influencing the general goal of other genre busters like Madoka..

But more often than not you just got stuff like...this...
oh my.

i think what bothers me about anime or otaku culture is that it's completely unperturbed by insight or deconstruction

when james bond got completely roasted by austin powers, it was so effective that the studio had to go back to the drawing board and start completely over with a (much needed) new take.

when underage harems and child soldiers get roasted by neon genesis evangelion, subsequent anime just makes shallow references and continues gleefully with everything it was already doing

to be fair, i'm probably way off and i just haven't seen the good stuff

TopicWhen you imagine an RPG healer, do you think 'armored' or 'unarmored?'

Either or. Moderately armored.

A character that only heals is a strategic liability unless the game is specifically designed to need that. (Action economy, yo)

my first rpg healer was probably cloud or barret with restore-all equipped, so I'm fine with all rounders

I also spent a weird amount of time playing a flash series called Mardek RPG, and the main character in that was a tanky armored healer type.

Also every reasonable Bethesda healer is just a warrior or thief with some healing spells

I think the weirdest thing is Eva gets this "perfect mess of stupid" down right, almost in the way FF8 tried but failed to do.
that's a great way to put it. there's a lot of cringey stuff in the TV series in particular that somehow just works because it's so raw, and you believe the characters have those intellectual/emotional blind spots. there are some awkward anime camera angles/butt shots/etc but we can live through those, and i think this is the one show where it's sort of there to serve a purpose other than checking some boxes. the main character is 14 and sees the world a certain way, and the show/EoE also gives a middle finger to fans obsessed with 14 year olds

Strife2 posted...
Also, I do NOT emphathize with Shinji, Rei, or Asuka at all. Even when I first watched it about 10 years ago, Misato and Ritsuko were the "beaten down working girls who have to babysit and deal with crazy shit" people I actually gravitated to. But whatever. I'm over 30. Of course I'd get that.
I think this right here is the best part of the show. Every single one of the main characters is messed up in some way (i thought misato was even more inappropriate on my second viewing, and i don't think i need to explain ritsuko!) You don't have to empathize with them- people with IRL mental illnesses are unique and frequently a huge pain in the ass- but you can believe them.

They're also all victims of the practical implications of anime harem and anime child soldier tropes. I choose in my head to believe that was on purpose to make a point, and not played straight for the sake of honry

Basically... nothing about the show was "safe". I think a lot of media is kind of on a sliding scale from safe & inoffensive (something you can slap on in the background on TV or streaming, not really pay attention, and it doesn't matter) to more artful but also not appealing to everyone.

The original Evangelion was pretty much a dressing down of Otaku tropes that went off the rails due to the creator's depression that somehow made everything it was trying to condemn more popular

I liked the series a lot more when I decided to just ignore the meaningless Christian imagery and focus on the characters. EoE explained everything to a satisfying conclusion.

It's kind of insane how often the stuff from the show that was meant to come off as weird or bad got lifted or copied into generic anime and then played straight

I've only seen the TV show plus EoE, and I'm kind of dreading this movie series. I get the impression that either NGE/EoE was amazing by accident, or the newer series caved to fans (the ones that unironically say "get in the fucking robot shinji", think rei is the perfect waifu, and don't like it when asuka has strong or messed up internal characterization) and became something more generic

I'm hopeful that my dread is misplaced. I'm going to have to come back to this topic in a couple weeks once I've burned through everything

As a side note, I also can't recommend the mega64 live adaptations enough

Why is this anyone else's concern but their own? If you so like, enjoy the video (or not, doesn't matter) and then after that, please, just fuck off. Focus yourself on your own life and let others deal with their lives. Why does everyone think it's appropriate to inject themselves into other people's lives and moralize about it?
At a certain point, if you post a public video it becomes anyone's business as long as they enjoy wasting their time on it

I think it's pretty dumb, but I spend a lot of time playing dumb video games, so I can't really talk
