If you have a problem with how black people have been treated in this country, look at Democrats, and realize that Democrats built their power on slavery, Jim Crow, and segregation. They only supported the Civil Rights Act to regain control of black people, and proudly owned that fact in the '60's.

Also, keep in mind that while 95% of northern democrats supported the civil rights act, 85% of northern republicans supported it, too. Were those Republicans also just trying to regain control of black people?

Liberal = lots of government
Conservative = Little government

before Civil rights racism was systematically enforced by the government. After civil rights, it was countered against by the government.

If you were an oppressed class, which system would you want before CR and which one would you want now?

The problem with the TC is even though WP today have nothing to do with slavery, they are still reaping the benefits from it hundreds of years later. Aetna got it's start by insuring slaves. Not to mention the textile industry before most plants went to Mexico.
