Also, this. Perhaps he's thinking of a different restaurant?

Depends on where you go. My buddy took me to one for my bachelor party and it was a bit more high end. The girl we got was a Danish college student. She was very peppy and enthusiastic during the whole thing. Didn't come off as trashy at all. After tipping her nicely for a few pole dances, she offered to give us some private dances in the back but we declined. We figured she'd move on to someone else but it was slow that night so she just hung out with us and played pool with us. It was a chill experience.

In my experience, tenure track positions have become extremely difficult to get. There is a surplus of PhD grads and not enough TT positions opening up.

The same can be said for non-TT, but to a lesser degree. I'd say apply for both and evaluate them based on what you learn if you get called for interviews.

In the newest movie, she is Gomez's mother again.

Morticia's parents are dead in this movie, which she is able to speak with through spirit phone.

I'm annoyed that they retconned Fester into Gomez's brother instead of Morticia's Uncle.

Doesn't make sense for them to refer to him as Uncle Fester if he's just an uncle to the kids.

Also, I'm just salty over the 90s movies cuz there will never be someone as perfect as Morticia as Caroline Jones. She was a fucking fox, and no one can live up to her lol.

Caroline Jones was adorable. I thought that was both a good and bad thing for the show.

90's morticia I think set the mood for what the family stood for a lot better. This new animated film did it pretty well too.

I saw the movie this past weekend. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10. For reference, I loved the 90s films (1 and 2 specifically), the old cartoon, the black and white show, and the Fox Family TV show. I never read the comics.

Pros:
- The movie actually gives some backstory to Gomez and Morticia before the kids and their modern life (i.e. their wedding, meeting Lurch)
- This movie probably has the best version of Pugsley (in that he's not just some normal or goofy kid). In fact, the main plot of the movie revolves around him and he gets a great scene near the end.
- The characters in general are given more depth. Wednesday is more than just a dark, brooding girl. Uncle Fester is more than an idiot. Morticia gets more focus on her past and psychology.
- The story has a good message. Despite there being a villain, we learn that both sides (the Addams and the townspeople) are at fault for the events that transpire.
- The ending has a great homage to the original black and white show (they redo the original show's intro in CGI along with the lyrics on display in sing-along fashion)
- Pop culture references were at a minimum (seriously, the trailer made it seem like it would be a lot worse than it was). Generally, they were only related to Wednesday's friend's family who were TV show/social media addicts.
- Lurch's piano solos were great transition pieces throughout the movie

Cons:
- Movie was very short. Felt like it started and ended pretty quickly.
- The villain was weak and very one dimensional. She went from 0 to 60 almost immediately.
- Some potential plot points got abandoned, making me think parts of the movie were cut (i.e. Gomez and Morticia marital issues)
- The message about assimilation and that it's okay to be different was very on-the-nose with no subtlety, and not in a funny way
- They gave Thing an eye which was kinda weird
- Some plotlines were rushed through, like Morticia's issues with Gomez's mother, the extended family dynamics, the school scenes, and the entire Cousin It cameo was underused.

Overall, I think the movie is worth seeing if you enjoy the Addams family. They cover familiar territory while throwing in some new twists. But overall, it's pretty harmless and doesn't take any big chances with its typical fish out of water plotline.

I feel like it will be fun and I'll enjoy it immensely.

However, the amount of hype this thing is building up with all the confirmed appearances so far (did I hear DC's Titans will also make an appearance?) will inevitably anger fans as there is no way it will meet everyone's inflated expectations.

As big as this will be, it is still a network show, so we can expect a network show budget (which is amazing they can afford all those cameos) and network show special effects.

If you are there to see it for the fan service and all that crossover interaction, I think you will love it. If you are there to see it for the plot and how it resolves a few lingering storylines (mainly Arrow and Flash), I think you will enjoy it. If you are there to see it as DC's answer to Avengers as far as crossovers and epicness are concerned, there may be some disappointment.

Legends really turned the show around between Season 1 and Season 2. Season 1 was unbearable when they tried to be all serious and dramatic.

Once they went the action comedy route with Seasons 2-4, the show got instantly better and became my favorite Arrowverse show. I think they pull off the meta humor and 4th wall breaking pretty well.

Season 1 was amazing-tier television. I found it amazing how the show was able to keep the tension up between a 9/10 and 10/10 pretty much all the time. Like they kept finding new says to build up the anxiety that they were gonna get caught, only to make a last-second save, which then led to the next crazy situation that they had to solve. The season 1 finale had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and the cliffhanger was crazy.

I felt the seasons got progressively worse, although never too bad. Season 2 wasn't as good as Season 1, but was still fun to watch. The addition of the FBI agent was awesome. Season 3 was ehh. The new characters didn't really jive with me. Though I do think the character development of the season 1 and season 2 characters was good here despite the short season. Season 4 was all over the place. I felt like it kept going from bad to good to bad to good.

I haven't seen the newest revival season.

Why is algebra important to a high school kid, and so is philosophy, but how to balance your check book or how to assemble your own PC isn't?

Its built around the standardized test. With some of the subjects being math, English, and science. So it's to the schools benefit to prioritize these subjects to insure as many students pass as possible, and show the illusion at least that their teaching their students well.

Also because school funding is based on how their students score in the standardized tests. So to avoid budget cuts and having to cut their arts and music programs, the schools prioritize classes that prepare students for the test by... cutting their arts and music programs.

Lol I do all of this too.

I have tried apps to replace all of these, but I haven't found any good ones to do any of this. The old fashioned way just feels more convenient for me. Email is great because I can access it anywhere, even at work at my work computer if needbe. Some apps are cumbersome/impossible to use on PCs, so if I don't have my phone, it limits what I can do.

Also, the notepad is great because it's easily accessible with one button click, and no formatting required or additional steps. I just delete once done. Apps just feel too complicated with their options and deadlines and loading times.

no, your parents should teach you life skills AND algebra

As someone who has worked with parents of children regularly, most parents should not be teaching their kids life skills and algebra.

Many parents out there don't know what they are doing. People assume that most parents know basic life skills like how to cook, how to manage debt/budget, etc. When in reality, most adults between ages 20 and 40 do not know how to do this. I work with many recent college grads who have gone out into the world and don't know basic things like how to cook a meal that didn't come frozen. They don't know how to check their vehicle for maintenance issues and don't know what to look for in a home mortgage. How can we expect these people to teach their kids life skills?

Life skills should be standard in any educational institution. It is only good for our society to have people that know how to maintain a household.

I think sex is overhyped. Sure it feels good, but it can get old real fast. Usually what makes sex great is the intimacy that comes with it. Case in point, the wife and I have been going at it for days as we are trying to conceive. Some nights we just don't have time for foreplay and just get right down to it. While it still feels good, it just isn't satisfying.

Some nights I'll enjoy the tease of sex more than the actual sex itself (like when she puts on my favorite lingerie, I'm more excited about the fooling around part than simply the intercourse part).

Status effects in general are an interesting feature.

Games rarely incentivize a player to use status effects offensively, since it's usually just a slower way to achieve the same outcome: deal damage > enemy hp

I'd like to see a game that really incentivizes or forces to use status effects offensively in some parts

There were a few times in Pokemon where status effects helped against a gym leader or other powerful foe. I recall if you paralyzed Whitney's Miltank, you could interrupt her increasingly-powerful Rollout. Paralysis was also great against speedy, one-hit kill glass cannon enemies if you could manage to slow them down enough. Poison was also good for whittling down tanks (specifically Toxic).

I never did find good use for Sleep, Burn, or Frozen. Sleep because it was unreliable and ended too quick, frozen because it was too hard to actually achieve, and burn because I didn't ever have enough pokemon that had the ability to do so, so I didn't really get a chance to try it out. Though the lowered attack would have been helpful at some points, I imagine.

EDIT: I forgot confusion. That was a very hit-or-miss one. At times, you'd confuse them enough to have them kill themselves. Others, they'd snap right out of it within a turn.
