Stocks often go up after news of big layoffs (not always, but it happens with surprising regularity). Mass layoffs = significant reduction in wages = less expenses = increased short term earnings = higher stock price.

Biden almost lost to Trump, who is one of the least popular political figures of all time.

Biden beat Trump as the challenger. He's now the sitting President, and historically that matters. Also, it would take some incredible circumstance for Trump to sit quietly by without attempting to torch Desantis and the entire election. Trump has already announced his candidacy - kicking and screaming (and dragging all Republicans down with him) is the *only* way he knows how to go down.

I don't mean to be "that guy" but plagas could sometimes tank hand grenades in the original as well. The best item against them are definitely flash grenades - I would stockpile my flashes during the first several chapters just to have an abundance for the cabin fight they're showcasing here.

I tried to put together a somewhat comprehensive list given only ten options.

Years ago, I bought Shen Yun tickets for my parents and grandma (mainly because my grandma had been reminiscing about the "Chinese circus" that visited her home city when she was young). The commercials seemed innocent enough, but apparently the show goes heavy with some weird religious, anti-Chinese government propaganda. My parents tried to be kind when telling me about their experience (since they knew tickets weren't cheap), but I could tell they didn't enjoy it. I researched a bit more and learned that a ton of people are duped by the advertising and disappointed with the production.

I'd welcome more enemies, but I never grew tired of the enemies in BotW. The three primary types (Bokoblin, Moblin, Lizalfos) were extremely dynamic in the way they interacted with Link and the world around them. A Bokoblin with a bow is a completely different enemy than one with a sword, for example.

But a definite disagree on the map size - I loved the scope of the first game and only want more.

2001 is my favorite film ever. I can't remember ever being as transfixed by a movie on my first watch, and several years later, I dragged my brother to see it in IMAX for the 50th anniversary. Also the best theater movie I've ever seen - the visuals and sound design are timeless.

I hate myself for being a little jealous of right-wing shamelessness. You get so far ahead in life if you're willing to lie about absolutely everything.

Dunno if this was actually "studied" or just the professor talking out his ass, but I remember hearing in a marketing class that a large number of the men shopping at Home Depot are only there because their wives have forced them to fix/upgrade something at home.

Only like 10 people showed up at our 15-year reunion a few years ago (I would have gone but I was out of the country). I think this practice has been killed off by social media.

Godfather and Apocalypse Now deserve all their accolades

I think you just answered your own question. Coppola may not have the same consistency of other all-time greats, but his top three movies (just top two imo, since I'm not a huge fan of Godfather Part II) are of such a high quality that they automatically earn him a seat at the table. The Godfather and Apocalypse Now aren't just great films - they are timeless masterpieces that still serve as the pinnacle of their genres.

Endgame brought such a level of finality to the universe that I have almost zero desire to watch any of the movies since.

A college friend of mine spent a few years working as a 911 dispatcher, and she said infidelity and fraternization were very common in her department. Like half the cops were fooling around on their spouses, usually with dispatchers.

Congress passed the $600 weekly UI increase in like a day. If covid were somehow a disease that only impacted poor communities, that never would have happened.

How's the difficulty compared to 2018? Sigrun was the only truly challenging part of earning that Platinum, but she was a clear step beyond everything else IIRC

I think that Jeffries could at least ignore bullshit votes from the Republican side. It'll still be complete gridlock but at least the House won't be voting on impeaching Biden over and over.

If this goes to a ninth vote, it'll be the most contentious house speaker vote since the Civil War era.

It's an interesting look at how collectivist and anti-capitalist this country used to be during that timeframe. Mr. Potter, the big-money tycoon who ran the town, never did anything illegal (from what I recall), but he's portrayed about as repugnantly villainous as a character can get. I first saw it as an adult and found myself enjoying it far more than I expected.

The only scene I remember hating was the uncomfortable one where George (as a grown man) kissed his mother right on the mouth. Was that a thing back then?
