Admittedly 90% of my game experience is from 3, NV, and 4 but that doesn't seem accurate.

Unless you're talking about the unintentional humor of the physics systems in those games sending you flying into the sky?

The humor from the games definitely didn't feel like this does

One of the few video game shows where it feels like it actually cares about the source material

But some of the acting and special effects are killing me inside

Max losing control of the power suit and whizzing around the sky like a Loony Toons cartoon felt like real hack shit

And Ben from LOST losing his leg and giving out a few half assed "ooh ooh aahs" and like not even screaming?

The Ghoul guy and general asthetic is really bumping up this 4/10 show to like a 6 or a 7

I meant more in terms of getting the outcomes you want in dialogue/stealth more than in terms of combat difficulty

Game is great. But figuring things out and testing weapons/spells has had some disastrous effects lol

You have to actually invest the time/effort to dig into its mechanics, which the game never really forces you to do if you're playing casually. It's combat and bosses are beautifully designed in so many ways, it shits all over KH1 and only KH3 begins to come close to matching it. You're not going to notice it playing casually mashing square with the occasional reaction command or whatever because that experience is basically the same in both (except KH1's physics are disgusting to play when you go back to it from KH2 or KH3), it's proves its dominance when you try to speedrun it or do challenge runs like Level 1 Critical where it really gets to flex how deep it can be and how well balanced all your options are against each other.

I don't get how your example in Hollow Bastion is bad pacing. It's essentially one cutscene across 2 areas and why it happens is very simple to understand.

Because it keeps you from playing the game. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, it's just a waste of time and jerks you around multiple levels instead of just letting you play one of them. They easily could have conveyed the same information with fewer transitions

She's playing the ps4 final mix version. I'm not impressed. She did get access to a lot of abilities early one which I think was a great addition

I have always seen praise for it and don't understand why. Seems waaaaay worse than 1.

• Dialogue is much worse by an order of magnitude. Especially everyone involved with Organization 13
• The pacing is the worst I've ever seen in a game. Everybody knows the intro is bad but even once you escape it's still terrible.

Like when you get to Hollow Bastion, you go to Merlins for 5 seconds > go into Poohs world for 10 seconds > back to merlins for 1 fight > back to poohs world. Then back out AGAIN after like 2 minutes.

• They expanded the gummy system which nobody asked for
• More gimmick sections like the carpet sections of agrabah. And personally Atlantis in 1 was way better as an awkward swimming level than a high-school musical level
• Like half the new levels are mostly empty space (Mulan having an empty capital during the ending was mega cringe). Pride Lands is 95% emptiness. Expanding Olympus was dope but it was mostly just empty black caverns
• The expanded combat stuff is the only upside I'm seeing and even that is mostly just QTEs.
