Manfred generally does a good job with general MLB runnings - much better than Selig.
He still has his share of issues like turning a complete blind eye to ... certain ownerships intentionally sabotaging the team for the sake of ego ... and also he likes to mess around with rules shit too much that doesn't need to be messed around with... and doing dumb shit to reduce the TIME OF GAME as opposed to improving the PACE OF PLAY, which I don't think he realizes are 2 different things.

Other than that he's doing ok... you'll never see rigged games or anything in baseball these days.

My point is just.
Racism doesn't always imply hatred. Ignorance can be racism. Ignorance can lead to hatred. Is it the worst/most racist thing ever? No. But it doesn't really feel comfortable to be doing this sort of thing. The culture of fans engaging in this behavior might encourage more worse behavior. As I said in MLB topic. I went to a Mets/Braves game in ATL in April. Beyond doing the tomahawk chop (which btw, they do about 30 times a game, no exaggeration... only after runs early on, after every batter by mid-game, after every PITCH by the end of the game- while the Braves are batting anyway), I saw people doing war whoops, and one person even was yelling "SCALP EM!!!!". Like come on, this is not acceptable behavior. The tomahawk culture encourages this.

Additionally, I'm also trying to point out MLB's hypocrisy in making a full-on statement about Chief Wahoo and banning it, but letting other similar things stand, like the chop.

yeah thats part of it. but one hears the chop more at a single Braves game than you do Sweet Caroline over an entire season. 9-10 games in boston a year vs the probably 30 times a game in Atlanta. playing it after runs early. then after every batter from like the 5th inning on. and every pitch from the 8th on. at least while they're batting.

Kenny Albert is so bad. And then after hearing him over and over in the MIL/COL series, I had to hear him call Sunday's giants game ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I really do wish the games would be simulcast nationally and local. Mid-week regular season national games do that - where the game will be on both ESPN/MLBN and your local channels. So it's clearly within reason to do so.

I grew up on a native american reservation. I work on one now. Literally not a single one of them cares or has ever cared about how the Braves fans cheer on their team. You trying to paint them all as hateful racists because you are jealous that their team is succeeding is the single most transparent thing I have ever seen.

The tomahawk chop has been awful for years. It being center stage again for the first time in a little which has given me reason to bring it back up. The Braves being successful has nothing to do with it other than it now being visible on a big stage. I always have been outspoken against it, even when the Braves were bad.

That said, I don't think it's "hateful". It clearly is not done out of hatred towards Native Americans or anything like that. Thats not what I'm really trying to say. It definitely is ignorant and thats almost as much of a problem. I was at a Braves game in Atlanta this April and I have seen people there do "whooping" war cries and say shit like "YEAH SCALP THEM!!!". This isn't direct hatred, but it's also not ok.

Edit: and yes, even if it weren't racist, it's annoying as all hell. They do it after every batter in the later innings. Nobody wants to hear this.

From a statistical perspective, I don't think there's a ton of merit to looking at postseason numbers vs regular season. In general on a big scale, everything is going to be a little lower because you're facing better teams with better hitting/pitching/defense. On an individual basis, maybe there is something to performing in big moments, but as I kind of alluded to before I don't think athletes are as sensitive to pressure as we all think. It's just small sample size goodness.
