Low life expectancy in medieval times was caused by sky high infant mortality rates, not by people being ancient at age 40. People who made it past their first year or so tended to live into their 60s or 70s on average, younger than now but not by anywhere near enough to make JRPG ages make sense.

I'm fairly certain working age people (which started younger) also died a lot more due to unhealthier and unsafer working conditions, killings and executions being more common, and medicine being worse. Though I can see if someone makes it past 50 that they would live to about the same as the average life expectancy in present day.

I used to think this was egregious too but thinking it over it kind of makes sense when almost all of them take place in a medieval setting. Yakuza is like one of the few that doesn't and they have more realistic ages.

I don't really think with this much of a handicap at the crucial early stages that they'll be able to suddenly make a huge turnaround once they get their supply back, when their competition is much better than before and have had an earlier advantage at getting customers. I doubt 5 will overtake 4.

Actually, looks like a couple of games have surpassed Clash of Clans since I last checked. Looks like Asian mobile games have really exploded recently. Still though, Asian mobile market escalating doesn't mean western market has diminished. Forgot about Roblox too.

That's bs. Western mobile games have always been a thing. In fact, it's the other way around. Asian companies started copying western mobile games first. and expanded on it more as it eventually became their predominant market. But that doesn't mean western mobile companies have ever changed their policies. The most popular mobile games are western.
Thinking this game is meant to pander to Asian markets as if American doesn't have a sizable mobile market too are some 4chan conspiracy theories. It's simply moving from a franchise that was more "hardcore" console and PC oriented to a casual mobile one. Which is still a huge jump since they're very different markets and the two rarely align with each other.

Why are we comparing? I'm simply correcting the implication that Americans aren't significant mobile gamers either which is objectively false. Mobile games have far higher revenue in the US as well. You're the one living under a rock if you don't think Americans aren't the main contributors to the success of games like fortnite, candy crush (which franchise grosses more than the GTA franchise), temple run, TF2, and Pokemon Go.

Mobile gaming also exceeds console gaming in revenue in America too. Diablo is just historically not a game structured like that.
