Hmmm, I'm struggling to think of any super good comparisons.

Take the driest specific Monty Python's Flying Circus sketch you can think of, multiply the dryness by 3, and make it a feature film.

That's the best I can come up with.

If you like very dry, deadpan humor, you'll probably at least not regret watching it.

It's not an all time favorite of mine or anything, but I'm glad I watched it, and can safely say I enjoyed it.

It was actually a really damn good impromptu cover.

Im not a big Pearl Jam fan, but Jeremy is my favorite. Love that song.

Both are absolutely phenomenal songs; Jeremy only barely squeaks ahead of Do The Evolution for me, in part because it's the song that introduced me to and made me fall in love with Pearl Jam. But Do The Evolution fucking rocks hard, it very well may be their hardest song, or at least up there for sure.

And Daughter's right behind them, I just love the story it tells and the subject matter it tackles in the lyrics.

Have you guys seen them live? I saw them in 2011 and 2016 in Ottawa. Incredible each time. They played Love Reign O'Me by The Who at the 2nd one. Insane.

Not yet, I want to super badly, but they rarely seem to play much in the south, so I haven't gotten much opportunity to.

Next US tour they do though, I'm saying fuck it and making it happen, somehow, someway.

if Bush counts, then so do Collective Soul and Live.

I honestly always forget about Collective Soul tbh, but they're good. I'd have to do more research into them, but Where The River Flows at least definitely gives me heavy grunge vibes.

In general I think people make the genre FAR too restrictive. Like, grunge elitism is what killed the genre tbh. >_>

And "post-grunge" is the silliest thing ever IMO.

Man IN the box is such a jam. The vocals are just phenomenal. And I love Black Hole Sun's drum fills. They're fantastic, but Nirvana will always take the cake. Smells Like Teen Spirit is not their grungiest song tho. I always thought better examples of their grunge were songs like Lithium, Negative Creep, Tourettes, shit even Come As You Are is heavier than smells like teen spirit.

I suppose that's fair. Breed is also a solid contender in that vein, I'd say.

I mostly just went for the most popular (or up there) for each band, along with a couple one hit wonders like Cumbersome.

If I were to have picked a personal fav for Nirvana's slot, I'd have probably picked Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle. That's such a great fucking song that people sleep on way too often.
