Pulling for the three or four Top 10ers I have left in this, though! I'm gonna mostly stay out of this ridiculous nudity debate, except to say that the fact we're having this conversation at all feels a bit prudish to my worldly sensibilities. Call me desensitized, but I'll basically never have a problem with any kind of content as long as it makes sense within the context of the work. People fuck, curse, fight, and do drugs all the time in real life. If filmmakers want their movie to reflect that, that's fine. If not, that's totally fine too. Forbidden Planet has acting, world-building, and occasionally some insightful philosophical moments in the script. There's definitely some vintage fifties sexism, but it was less distracting to me here than in a lot of other movies from the era (which, all told, the '50s are my least favorite decade in film anyway). Meanwhile, show me anybody who can say The Emoji Movie has anything interesting to say, or even any thought at all put into it outside shallow, cynical marketing. That person would be a liar.
