Many are on the spectrum. Things need to fit in neatly into certain categories and when something doesn't then they feel the need to find a label to fit these outliers. But the need for everything to be explicitly defined so when someone says something that isn't the exact definition then they have the ammo to call them out to finally show their supposed superiority.

I mean the show does make a lot of direct references of topics in philosophy.

Just because the humor and style of delivery is irreverent doesn't mean it necessarily has to be a superficial show. If anything, part of the appeal of it is its lack of meaning. The fact we're able to pull so many philosophical references is sort of meta. It's what humans do, and Rick and Morty leads us into doing so, if only to maybe demonstrate the futility of it.

I've read a lot of philosophy, so I appreciate a lot of the references. I also appreciate it's post-nihilistic attitude as just an irreverent comedy. Doesn't mean one has to necessarily look so much into it to enjoy it. Why does that threaten you?

He held slaves, basically all his life, some he inherited when young - but he emancipated them on his death. As he grew older he developed a strong aversion to slavery that he didn't speak of much in public life because of the political consequences. Later in life he refused to sell his slaves, even though he desperately needed the money, becaused he didn't want to be a part of it anymore - he also stopped buying slaves, instead switching over to indentured servants for labor.
I don't know how he treated them though, I'm sure there's writtings on it.

While I kind of almost sort of maybe understand the point you're getting at TC, the truth is the best way to assess most PC issues is to get as much base amount of information as possible to whittle down the potential scenarios that could be causing the issue, as computers are very complicated and stuff. Also because generally users are dumbasses who don't do even the most basic of troubleshooting themselves before deciding that their computer is broken and needs a rocket scientist's insight to repair.

Like if you work in IT at all, you'd be painfully familiar with the kind of customer who thinks he's above the basic troubleshooting, but also gets annoyed when you start talking technical at him, like you're supposed to be a fucking mindreader who understands his particular level of savvy. (Spoilers: that's nearly every customer)

It's just being tactful. You can get people to fix easy and simple obvious things without making them feel like a dumbass even if they are one.
