They are the easiest, by far, to run around and ignore, and the most spread out as well. One boss is literally on a time limit and you run circles aroubd him and another you literally run away down a corridor. Yeah SH2 is immnesely easy. You're there for the story, not really the survival. Someone told me the Beginer difficulty doesn't even have enemies aside from boss fights. I never bothered to check that but I believe it. The game showers you with health drinks and ammo while enemies are easy to avoid even on Hard. --- |

Resident Evil was always dumb "action" horror that got off on gameplay and graphics. Updating the same concept with better graphics worked because it just was better framework. Silent Hill is more psychological horror based on running away and character's psyche. Doing it in modern HD with great effects doesn't really effect any of it. I mean if all you want a lazy slapdash of random horror set pieces like PT. Then yeah it's for you but the early Silent Hill games had more depth than that. I don't see what a remaster would add to a immersion based game that was designed based on the technology of the time. SH1 was by design intended to have awkward as fuck controls, voice acting and fog everywhere so you can't see. Better design, good voice acting, less fog and stunning 3D detail to tell the same story wouldn't really add anything. Hell they tried this on the Wii with Shattered Memories which while fine as a game the graphics update, removal of combat and better character models/controls didn't add anything. --- |

Some things came up like the Moon Landing, Holocaust, Hindenburg, Margaret Thatcher, Berlin Wall, Apartheid, Little Red Book etc. And one of the events documented was the beating of Rodney King by a bunch of asshole cops. Which led to a debate about whether or not that should be on the list which had mixed results so I'm interested in CE's take. Guess I'm giving my opinion away early by the nature of making the topic. I'm not making any excuses for the cops or downplaying what happened at all but when I think of groundbreaking events of historical importance in the 20th century I have to admit that doesn't spring to mind. I mean within the US black equal rights movement bubble alone isn't Martin Luther King Jr's assasination more important? For those who don't know the event in question, Rodney King was a black man who was chased by police after speeding and refusing to pull over. Once they cornered him; a gang of officers absolutely brutalized him and beat the fuck out of him for absolutely no reason. This was caught on film and in 1991, pre Youtube and social media, the public was outraged and shocked to see it. It's considered one of the worst cases of police injustice in the US and inspired a generation of anti-cop movements. A big controversial event sure but compared to the Berlin Wall? Russian Revolution? I just don't see it. --- |
