Its generally a sign of a very solid cast when my three least-favorite members are the first three boots. In Saras case, there really just wasnt much to her in her one and only episode. Of all the sob stories cast on 41-43, hers was one of the least-sobby, and despite fitting in with her tribe socially she was booted first from her tribe for the oh so bland and boring reason of making the mistake that cost them the immunity challenge. There was something somewhat rootable in her desperation to stay in the game but I dunno. While I guess I wanted to see her stay, it was better to lose her than the alternative that night in JD, and in a group this dynamic and exciting, I really, really didnt care that she was gone after the premiere.

83. Lamar Hanger (Tough as Nails 3, 11th place) [11/12]
In a cast without anybody that was particularly offensive Okay, I initially had Hanger two spots higher than this on the overall list but I had to segue into his write-up with that line from Taks and so I figured that bumping him down under two people that I felt were mostly even with him was arbitrary enough. I guess actually for the first three episodes of the season Hanger was kind of an unreasonable, stubborn curmudgeon so maybe he was a little offensive at the very beginning but after he was eliminated from the individual competition he became more pleasant and thus we didnt have to deal with that for the whole season (which undoubtedly would have put him much lower on the overall list). I remember him having kind of a nice father-daughter relationship with Kelsy but since both were out of the individual game fairly early there wasnt much development on that as the edit focused on making big characters out of the final five or so. There was also a scene of him doing the robot at the dance club challenge, which showed that he at least knew how to have some fun. Other than that he was a minor character for the season but at least he left SOME impression on me which is more than I can say for Tak.

84. Tak Tanabe (Tough as Nails 3, 6th place) [12/12]
So Tak is up next on the list because was this dude even on the show? No seriously, in a cast that I feel an abnormal amount of apathy towards, Tak is easily the least-memorable and thats saying so, so much. As of this write-up were almost exactly one year removed from TAN3, and I already cant remember a single thing about this guy. Other than the fact that he was from Hawaii which made him bond with Jerome a bit otherwise even as this was airing, every time he popped up for a confessional I was like, Oh yeah, this guy exists. Heck, when I went to go get his picture, he looked totally different than I remembered. He seemed plenty nice but was also extremely boring and forgettable. In a cast without anybody that was particularly offensive, the most boring, least memorable person ends up at the bottom, and with that, every season represented on this list has lost at least one person and the impending Tough as Nails 3 slaughter has begun.

Crystal Maze (PC)

So I bought, played and beat this game today for sentimental reasons. In the early-mid 2000s, there was a demo of a game that I played on my Papa's computer but never had/played the full game. In the game, you played as a girl, running around a maze-like area collecting gems. In the level I remember from the demo, you were by the sea... perhaps on a boardwalk or stone path on the water? I couldn't remember for sure but what I do know is that I had tried in the past to find it and based on the description I gave, I received a lot of suggestions, all of them being ruled out. And my Papa died 8 years ago and that computer is long gone, so there's no way I'd find it that way. I tried again today, inspired by Anagram's obscure game identification topic, but before I made the post I decided to try one last Hail Mary on Google to see if I could come up with anything. After a lot of stuff that I'd either already ruled out or weren't close, I came across this that piqued my interest... and what do you know, this was it. For $5 I figured I'd give it a whirl.

I mean, I guess I wasn't expecting a masterpiece out of obvious shovelware but it was a decent distraction for the day. It's pretty short. Less than 2 hours. My above description is actually a pretty decent representation of the game, except that there are also enemies chasing you around the board. Luckily, Lily, the protagonist, is a lot faster than most of the enemies so you can always outrun them. It's just a matter of not cornering yourself, which can actually be pretty easy to do, especially in the later levels and because the map can sometimes be a challenge to navigate either due to unforgiving hitbox detection or difficulty deciphering steps. My other complaint is that the difficulty absolutely jacks up for the final six levels. I mean there it just really jacks up near the end and nothing prepares you for it. I went into the final stretch of six (out of 49) levels with 23 lives and beat the game with 4 lives (that includes those that I earned during that stretch). It was bonkers.

Anyway, it was nice to play this game again, and in full. Was a nice little reminder of time at Grandma and Papa's house.

Could be Omar for similar reasons to Hai. Could be... was it Chaddah who finished 6th or Tiffany? Definitely isn't Danny (that would be criminal). Could be someone with whom I'm less familiar, or just forgetting about.

These recent seasons are dumbed down to a point that they're unmemorable, probably to cater to the casual Ozzy worshiping stangirls.

85. Hai Giang (Survivor 42, 8th place)
Hai overplayed his hand to an annoying degree. This was evident from the very first challenge where he decorated himself in blood that was absolutely unnecessary (though I partially blame the producers here why was fake blood even necessary for that fake-out?) to get an advantage. Then later in the game he tried to create an alliance with all the people who had advantages literally calling it the Advantage Alliance. Like, how was that going to benefit him? He clearly just wanted to be part of something powerful and didnt care that it was not in his best interest at all. For someone who thought he knew the game so well he was actually very terrible at it and it was cringeworthy to watch. Just to add to all of that he was an extremely stubborn player, and yet when he arranged the hit on Rocksroy, what was his pitch to everyone? Rocksroy is too stubborn to work with. And Im not saying that Rocksroy wasnt stubborn as well but the hypocrisy was rampant here. Other than that, Hai wasnt a mean person or anything. He could occasionally be funny and I thought his eating meat in the game despite being vegetarian because he felt it was necessary to sustain himself in that environment seemed genuine and didnt feel forced like other sob stories have been these last few seasons. Despite how annoying he was as a player, I cant really bring myself to dislike the guy.

86. Ameerah Jones (Big Brother 24, 14th place) [9/16]
Ameerah started out the season as a very cerebral player (Chase, that means smart). She positioned herself well within a few overlapping alliances and seemed to be both a good enough strategic, social and physical player to do very well while also not being so good that she was an in-your-face threat, making her a solid winners pick. Unfortunately her game came unraveled when the women decided to target Taylor, and while Ameerah herself did not actively participate in the bullying of Taylor she also didnt stand up for her. Then when Turner did identify her as a threat and put her on the block to protect Taylor, who was now in her alliance, Ameerah turned to Taylor for assistance and found none in return. And then Ameerah said that, as a fellow black woman, Taylor should have had her back, because that totally worked the other way around when Taylor was being targeted and bullied, right? Even still, Ameerah thought that she was safe on the block against Terrance. Oops.

87. Michael & Moe (The Amazing Race 33, 7th place) [9/11]
I can absolutely see what casting was going for with these two, which is exactly what makes it all the more frustrating that they turned out to be one of TARs biggest duds in recent memory. The cops went viral on the internet for their singing videos, which potentially made them a really fun team, yet this fun didnt come out in their only two episodes. They were barely shown in the premiere and were eliminated with very little drama, then when the race resumed post-COVID, the two eliminated teams re-entered the race to fill in the gaps caused by the four teams that had to drop out. While Arun & Natalia certainly made something out of their second chance (and had been far more entertaining pre-COVID anyway), Michael & Moe were AGAIN eliminated after just one leg with very little entertainment provided. I do partially blame production here; I think that the first leg back should have been an NEL to let everyone, especially the two returning teams, get their footing back, but that doesnt change the fact that Michael & Moe were not entertaining at all when by all rights they probably should have been.

88. Jackson Fox (Survivor 42, 18th place) [15/18]
Im torn on what to do with Jackson, similar to how I was torn on Paloma. On one hand, he didnt last very long (and by that I mean barely half an episode), so its tough to judge exactly how his story could have turned out. On the other hand, for that half an episode he seemed like a very nice guy and I appreciated how open he was about his story. Heck, he even shared pre-transition photos of himself which was fascinating to me because I thought that was generally considered taboo among trans people (not meaning to sound insensitive or ignorant here, that has just been my perception based on trans people Ive known and known of). On the other other hand, Ill admit that it DOES seem sketchy that he didnt disclose his being in withdrawal until after the alternates were sent home, which he almost certainly knew increased his chances of not being sent home before the game even started. On the other other other hand, I also still partially blame production because if it were up to me I would have just said no, sorry, you didnt disclose this information to us when we first asked for it, wed be happy to have you back in the future but we cant do it today and found a way to make the season work with 17 people. I want to like him but the weirdness of the situation leaves too much in the air for me to not put him in the mixed/neutral range.

89. Eric Abraham (Survivor 41, 18th place) [17/18]
Sorry for the delay. Was a little busy and also I'm at that sloggish part of the list where I don't have a lot to say on most of these people so it was tough to work up the motivation to get back into it. Most Survivor first boots are either what the fuck ever or characters who could have been decent had they lasted, or at the very least were great flameouts. But every now and then you have someone like Abraham who I was both satisfied to see go first but not so much so that it made me appreciate his story. He was just kind of a mildly sexist jerk throughout the first episode, targeting Tiffany for being the weakest woman, and pressing this point so hard that he couldnt even imagine himself being the one voted out. Even in post-game interviews he said that he was totally blindsided because he thought he was too valuable to be the first one voted out, despite Tiffany boldly campaigning against him at tribal council. So he got voted out first and wasnt missed among the excellent cast that was Survivor 41.

I'm STUNNED that Aubrey & David aren't the medevac. I just don't understand why a team that has a story going on (constantly hanging by a thread) and has at least one member (Aubrey) that seems to have a personality that could be entertaining, is getting one of the most aggressively neutral edits ever.

Too bad for Abby & Will but they weren't like a huge loss. It's not like we lost Derek & Claire or the twins.

This season is not nearly offensive enough to be bottom 5. It's just a dud.

Philippines absolutely holds up on rewatch. It's a top 5 season.

I honestly don't see the RC comparison. Elie had that frantic control freak know-it-all vibe that Angelina had. RC spent most of her edit wondering why tf this crazy woman hated her (and yes that was PART of Elie's edit but not the main focus until tonight).

Elie was a legit decent character don't @ me. She was like a diet Angelina Keeley and while the "diet" is still there we've had like 6 diet Tonys and a couple of them have been decent characters in their own right (think Angelina -> Elie as like Tony -> Joe Mena).

Yes, editors. Votes get cast and torched get smuffed at Tribal Council.

Sami is obnoxiously cocky but at least I have hope that he is being set up for an amazing downfall. Gabler on the other hand is just so unpleasant and is neither a good player nor an interestingly bad one and just sucks any entertainment out of every single scene he's in.

I think it's gonna be Cassidy.

I definitely consider Sydney and Lydia to have made the merge.

It was your first guess that was lucky. According to Scoredle, your first guess narrowed it down to 15 words, and most if them are the wtf type, so I'd say out of the reasonable words you had a 1 in 5 shot.

90. Tara Alverson (Tough as Nails 2, 12th place) [8/12]
Its not easy to rank somebody who was only in two episodes and had very little impact within those two episodes. Something seemed a little off about Tara from the beginning. She kinda reminded me (right down to her appearance) of a coworker who is extremely awkward, but in an off-putting way, not like in a charming Christian Hubicki way. She seemed to act a lot tougher than she really is despite being pretty clearly one of the weakest members of the cast from the get-go, then went into overtime with Swifty and despite Swifty struggling and acting like a wimp over untying knots, Tara managed to injure herself in that challenge and kind of threw a fit about it, allowing Swifty to win by default while Tara ended up being medevaced. I found her presence to be somewhat annoying and she ended up adding nothing of value to the season since she couldnt even participate in the team challenge.

91. Todd Bridges (Celebrity Big Brother 3, 4th place) [8/11]
Todd checks a lot of the boxes that the last several eliminations to this list have checked. Loafed around and did nothing for the first half of the season? Check. Unearned cockiness? Check (mostly in the form of celebrating every time he so much as earned a point in a challenge). Needlessly argumentative with others? Check (Im referring primarily to getting into it with Cynthia back when Cynthia was rootable). Helped pave the way for an obvious and awful final two? Check. There are a few things keeping Todd aloat here. First, he DID legitimately become a challenge threat late in the season, so his cockiness wasnt quite as bad as, say, Swiftys, but it was too little too late. Second, even though I thought he was too confrontational with Cynthia early on, at least it led to him properly calling her out for not having Shannas back, so theres that. And third, he was VERY vocal about changing his mind on Todrick (and consequently his jury vote) having seen the edit. These were all very late game improvements for a character that was not great for most of the season though.
