Well, if we wanna get into the subtleties of this, I could argue that a lot of people go to church to stay sober or to cope with other issues, and closing churches could be a net negative on the overall mental health of the community. AA is famous for this concept my view is that it had more to do with capitalism that churches closed and liquor stores didnt.
