i listened to this one nonstop a lot recently. these fierce unsettling chord clusters are just so cool and blur the line between strange timbre and strange chord in itself. they're so DENSE but somehow harmonious beneath. and this absurdly shiny metallic percussion pierces my ear drums in the absolute best way. very powerful in context too. just can't get enough of the strange dismal environment it paints to me. treasure is such a treasure of a company i love you non

the sakimoto (i believe it's not confirmed to be specifically him but it is so obvious) style of fm synth sound design in genesis games at this time is the most outstanding stuff on the system. back when i listened to 'every sega genesis ost' i said the same thing, and over a decade later i still feel these stick with me more than all the rest in terms of sound on that entire library of games. i can't believe he gets simultaneously both such metallic and organic sounds out of this thing. all on top of having a composition style with a tonal sense with chord/melody interaction that i always find emotionally powerful
