this is my favorite finals ever. I thought 13 was my favorite finals ever and that it couldn't be topped. I also thought 13's champion couldn't be topped but I like isoleucine more than exsphere. Endeavour is the same tier too, so no matter what I am satisfied at this point! Best contest to me ever, guaranteed to have a champion I adore. 50% chance of having my favorite champion ever!

exsphere: ultimate darkness. i've talked about this a lot last year and this year too probably. I like it~! so many things i like at once that are hard to find in the same song as each other usually

lastendconductor: i never tire of the polymeter theme reused between all the epic zts trance songs in these games. i seem to really be in love with examples of polymeter where it's odd time layered on top of four on the floor trance edm drum beats including my favorite song sword art online fatal bullet dungeon geofront 4. actually this has even more polymeter stuff in it than worldenddominator, but its more subtle about all of it so i never noticed some of it until RIGHT NOW. Whoa..... in general this has COOL SOUND DESIGN and is EPIC and really makes you O_o think. epic tranbce music nostalgia for 2001 and also 2020 because it reminds me of my favorite song sword art online fatal bullet dungeon geofront 4. this reminds me of steins;gate which is a visual novel that I am watching the anime of that has video game music in it because it is based off of a video game(visual novel). It is about time travel which is cool because so is chrono cross

dream: the repeating fake choir pad always gets me here. WHY IS FRETLESS BASS SO 90s and i think it's 90% (90s percent) This song's fault that i associate fake fretless bass so much with "90s" whatever that even means I think yasunori mitsuda is almost as great as cubes; and dreams. i first heard this song in a youtube video in 2008 that was basically unedited all of the flybys in myst 1-3 and with a unfinished/rejected ocremix version of this song as the bgm. I had no idea what the source material was and it took me a while to finally figure it out despite it being listed in the video since it didn't mention the game, just track title and remixers' names. coincidentally a Myst youtube video using to far away times as the bgm is how I first heard the Chrono Trigger credits theme as well, even though i'd been familiar with most of that soundtrack for a lot longer. Was pleasantly surprised when I found out this was a champion in previous contests when i joined vgmc in vgmc 3 !

nilin: this track's been memorable pretty much ever since kcf first nommed it for the first contest he nommed it for; it pops into my head any time I hear glitchy elements in something orchestral. you know this actually sounds like if you took a fairly archtypal aaa orchestral theme but then played it in sound voltex ha ha. I really love everything about it, it's a world created where you can't tell the difference between what's artificial and what's organic at times. some layers that start out sounding like real instruments turn into the fake computer glitch sounds; and the other way around too. It's not a jarring juxtaposition, the natural instruments and computer destruction of them depend on each other to make this a full experience, and the barrier between these two things is less clear than i'd expect them to be

Dungeon ~ Geofront 4

Two of my noms against each other. This late in the contest. WOW! guaranteed one of the finalists is one of my noms! I may have made it clear by now that Dungeon ~ Geofront 4 is my favorite song of all time, and originally ranked isoleucine 5th out of 192,,,,,,,... but after rethinking some of my favorites recently...I think Isoleucine might be my 2nd favorite out of all 192 in the contest! Meaning this is my favorite possible match this contest could have produced at this point!!!!!!! So happy this contest has been this abnormally kind to me!! Even if Endeavour wins, I will still be happy, i dont know what ranking position I give that now (i gave it 38th/192 originall) but at this point it's not far off from these two either. Great contest. Thank you.

favorite song of all time vs my least favorite retiree; logically the strongest i can feel about any given match remaining this contest. though I don't hate yo-kai disco, i consider it to be a song I like (think i even nominated it one year) still happy to see it get this far for once after so many failed attempts it had before, just a statement about how consistently i like this field of retirees! but nothing can beat Dungeon~Geofront4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rude Buster

subject to change. Most matches in round 6 are fairly straightforward decisions for me; except for this one. This is the one match where i'd rank both tracks right next to each other. and frustratingly both songs are very very mood-dependent/appeal to me in very different ways from each other, so it is harder to evaluate them against each other. in the end though, I think of Rude Buster as a top 5 toby fox song; whereas i like 40 other songs in 13 sentinels ost alone more than deoxyribose. but i like 13 sentinels ost a lot more than deltarune ost...and yoshimi kudo/basiscape a lot more than toby fox......... Not evaluating these based on how i feel about them relative to other music from the games/composers, but those statements put into perspective how much Rude Buster is a standout to me and deoxyribose is not. very tough call but Rude Buster sticks with me. Deoxyribose doesn't no matter how into its style i am. still considering changing my vote to deoxy if I feel differently later

sorry classroom : ( i love you dv-i.............you saved my life.......!!!.......... Enormous fan of both in round 1...both of them are my noms! and yt uploads! At least this match will not be in a status where my vote will make a difference probably ha...ha...but isoleucine is too much of a deep favorite for me to vote classroom with honesty here, as much as i would like to support it. i hope this isnt TOO brutal of a blowout against classroom but isoleucine's record leads me to expect otherwise

Match 1 is close because I think both songs are amazing to almost equal extents; and i am likely to flip as a result. but I did spend a lot of time thinking about my preference and came to the conclusion i prefer partizans.......and yet i'm voting endeavour. endeavour is hard to judge because its such a recent "new favorite" and it's also grown on me over the course of the contest. partizans is something I'd expect to like more on paper, it does so so many things I love in the same song, part of one of my favorite game soundtracks; but I find myself coming back to endeavour way more

Match 2 is "not close" but there's indecision involved for very different reasons. My opinion on Filthy Mind specifically is very...jumpy, not consistent. I like it, but I can never decide whether i like it because I like it or if i just think it's a song that i 'should like because i like that style of song usually'. With moonstruck blossom though, it is never a question that I love the song; no matter what style i'm in the mood for i will find things in it that appeal to me

i originally did a ranking of all 32 in r4 where I put tigar way above rude buster. but now i'm thinking that that ranking is BOGUS and I definitely clearly prefer rude buster. its one of the r5 matches i'm most considering flipping on though. tigar does way more variety of different types of things i like at once and i respect that. but rude buster does the one thing it does that I like Very well.

match 2 is no contest but I still think deoxyribose is pretty fun. but like very few pieces of music in the world that can beat gosu to me (except this set of retirees is so good that many of them are in this contest and it may face those! (probably not, that would be many rounds away if so, but I can hope!!!!!!))

i'm very decisive about these picks, but although they aren't tough choices, I'm still incredibly fond of their opponents. Especially Fire Island Volcano, was jamming out to that HARd during my listen today, still getting as much as always out of the insane startling stream of unpredictable chord changes in the latter bits. Too bad Fire Island Volcano is literally against my favorite piece of music of all time!!!! there are ZERO songs I would vote above Dungeon~Geofront 4!!!!! dv-i saved my life, that i will never forget. match one is still the closest match in r4 for me, huge fan of both, but i don't Thiiink i will flip this time, thought quite hard about which I was going to vote for. Merciless Savior hits more sides of my tastes at once, i'll be in the mood for it more often, and the combination of things it does that I like is a rare combo of things to find in the same song...but Classroom NAILS the thing it does better than almost anything else similar to it for me, really one of the first songs I think of when I think of "i want to hear music that sounds like Classroom from Aurora Memoria" oh wait that's the same song as it self oops

lion king 2's arguably like the best "direct to video" disney movie; like it's commonly considered even better than the first one (my own opinion, tho mostly just because i personally like the music a LOT)
