I read your post. My first two sentence were directly responding to clear up something that people keep parroting with no real evidence to support the claims. The last one was just a general statement.

This is actually speculation as from every article I've seen about this hasn't stated whether or not the pictures were actually taken by the boys or were pictures grabbed off the girls social media.

In fact the details are very sparse, because one person brought this up to the school admin and the school admin is currently investigating and the media is simply reporting due to the petition.

People really need to take a few steps back and think about this from the bigger picture. The core issue is a bunch of teen boys are rating teen girls based on their appearance. The sharing of pictures is unacceptable, but it's a moment to teach the teen boys why sharing pictures of girls without their consent is wrong.

Yeah expulsion seems excessive. I would probably go with the typical suspension for some time while getting this situation under control. It's one thing if they took the creepy photos, but it's another if they're using already existing "non-creepy" photos.

In Highschool when I was on the JV Basketball team (I was 5'6, no way I would get into Varsity), we would do a lot of "locker room" talk that would essentially get us cancelled, in this day of age, if we were to every type out any of the stuff we said in there. We were young, we were stupid, we thought this was how men were suppose to talk. Even in my 10year reunion with my old team we would say how stupid we were back then and joke how we would get cancelled if what we said was posted on twitter. This is no way a defense for what is happening, but it should be a learning lesson with punishment involved, not a total destruction.

People are literally treating these kids like they are adults who deserved to have their lives ruined over this. It's crazy that we can't even let kids be dumb kids who learn from their mistakes.

I also imagine if the roles were reversed and it was girls making trading cards of boys people wouldn't be calling expulsion over it.

Is this shitty behavior? Yeah, but it sounds like the school wasn't involved at all and people are just using the schools authority over the students for vengeance. I'm unsure if the picture involved were actually taken by the offending students or were just social media posts the victims posted themselves.

There's no guarantee the students parents are going to properly punish or teach their children how to respect their peers considering this was an issue in the first place.

It's a good opportunity for the school district to take charge to teach the students what they aren't being taught at home and providing some meaningful punishments for the behavior. Temporarily suspensions can remove them from classes while not neglecting their education and forcing Saturday classes will cut into the student's personal time and be an opportunity for the school to teach what has been neglected to their students by their parents.

Likely this will also suspend them from afterschool activities as well and those are often very important to the student and serve to be proper consequences without forgoing educational needs.

Expulsion should certainly be reserved for situations where a person is disruptive to the school that cannot be resolved by other means. There's no guarantee these kids will be a proper education if they are expelled and should only be handled if there is no other option.

Yeah, the article isn't completely clear on this point. It states that the boys "took" the pictures without the girls' consent. That suggests the boys did personally snap the pictures, but it could also mean the boys "took" them from the girls' social media accounts and shared them with each other. I definitely feel a stricter punishment is warranted for the former scenario versus the latter.

Honestly it's a shame how many people are jumping to expulsion when the full details of the incident aren't even known. Too many people just want to punish those they view as wrong without even trying to come up with a solution that helps all parties involved.

People don't want to improve society, they just want to push all the undesirables away and pretend they've solved the issue without putting any effort. It's like people forgot they were idiot kids at one point.

The situation as laid out is students outside of school were sharing pictures of girls taken out of school and rating them on snapchat. Expelling the students changes nothing about the means these students got the pictures or prevents the sharing of the pictures.

No one is saying they shouldn't be punished. Just many don't see the need to go as extreme as expelling them. It would be much different if this was going on during school hours where expelling them would put an immediate stop to the actions.

The students are young enough that it's an important time to teach them to respect their peers instead of just removing them from the system and forgetting about them. We see how awful the US prison system is and many people are basically saying we should treat children the same way as the US prison system.

And part of learning from dumb mistakes is realizing that there are sometimes serious consequences when you violate the privacy and rights of another person. Writing this off as some boys will boys shit is precisely why so many boys grow up to be creepy abusive men. Suspension is a fucking joke to most people, and is not a consequence that says their actions cause serious harm.

It still puts the victims face to face with their abusers if you don't remove the boys from the situation, vs the school being a sort of buffer between them if they're expelled. Your willingness to go easy on the boys who did this shows a complete lack of empathy for what the victims are experiencing here.

You do know that the point of having a childhood is making dumb mistakes and learning from them so you can be a better adult.

Kicking these students out of school completely for actions done outside of school does not teach these kids anything nor does it prevent the kids from continuing the behavior on snapchat.

Expelling them for the sake of expelling them is a bad way to go about business.

If the kids were taking photos of these girls during school hours and activities, I could understand expulsion. Just doesn't feel like the right way to punish and teach the children about consent and boundaries to just remove them from school when it wouldn't change the fact they could still continue to engage in the behavior since it was not related to them being in school.

Hate to double post, but a lot of this game is about dealing with shit rolls. Sometimes you get screwed and the fun is how you adapt to being put in a place of disadvantage (unless you party wipe, then yeah, reload is good).

When you a +9 mod and the DC is 10, by 5e rules you can't fail that roll. In BG3 since nat 1s auto fail, you have a 5% chance to fail a check you should always pass.

Bad rolls do happen, but when you are high level and proficient/expert in a skill you really shouldn't be failing simple rolls on a 5% chance.

5e is... not in a great place IMO. But BG3 still scratches that D&D itch.

They also took quite a few liberties with the ruleset.

Some of the liberties are pretty good. Bonus action on potions makes them a lot more useful in combat. Bonus action shove as well.

Critical fails on ability checks really suck though.

Indie games will be fine. It's not like Unity is the only game engine available. There's plenty of other options and some game engines available are specialized for specific types of games.

No other game engine is doing this, so I imagine every dev is gonna drop Unity in favor of something else. I guess it won't be a problem if you're trying to learn game dev and you won't be earning that much or getting that popular.

I see no reason you would learn game dev on Unity with these changes. Might as well learn on Unreal Engine, Godot, Renpy, etc where you are free to publish games using their engine without worry that you may have to pay more money to the engine's owners later.

They are saying it, because they have no actual right to prevent people from doing so.

A person can think both that a cause is important and that a particular method of protesting for that cause is bad.

The problem with this mindset is that effective protesting has to be an annoyance in some way. Being only okay with protesting if people do it where no one will see it and can easily ignore it accomplishes nothing.

They didn't list what positions were laid off. For all we know Bioware is laying off 50 people on roles focused on multiplayer only features since the blog post itself states they are focusing on singleplayer.

Either way I don't have much hope for the new Mass Effect game to be on the same level as the original trilogy, but this might be nothing as a whole.

Twitter hasn't been replaced by anything yet. Twitter is still the go-to site for sharing thoughts to the world.

I believe any games like that on the eshop are censored versions and I do not know there is a way to unlock the uncensored versions.

Since they're increasing in both strength and frequency it's just a losing proposition for any insurance company. You can't run a successful business on selling insurance policies that you know you're going to be paying out.

I'm not sure how funding infrastructure is going to make hurricanes stop coming. You might be able to mitigate some of the damage through pouring money into it but seeing as the hurricane problem is only getting worse I'm not sure that's a winning strategy.

It's not about stopping hurricanes. It's about mitigating the risk of damage from hurricanes. Insurance companies don't care about the number of hurricanes that happen, they only care about the likelyhood the hurricane causes damage they have to pay out.
