Some fans demand it, some financial backers think it is a requirement. So you have a lot of otherwise good games whose single-player experience is dumbed down in order to provide for MMO plots. But take a look at today's poll... it proves what I've understood for a long time: Over 82% rarely or never play online! Granted, some games play better online; some don't play at all without connections... but the best games, in my experience and opinion based on 45 years of video gaming, is that a good single-player story, good action, and a good challenge beats any online experience.
