lolwut? If you're looking it as 8 hours/day, that's a third of a day FIVE DAYS out of the week. However, not every job is 8 hours. You can work 10-hour shifts then get 3 days off, which can then be used productively elsewhere -- a second job, a side-hustle, continuing your education, etc.

But 40 hours a week isn't much, no. It's insane to hear people bitch about just working 40. Like wtf? Do you have a 3-hour commute or something? Because 40 by itself isn't much at all.

If your overall health increases, your remaining health should increase proportionate to the adjusted amount. You aren't healing anything, you're just capable of sustaining more damage.

It's enough of a chance that everyone should plan for it. Most will never actually have to act on that plan (provided they take appropriate contraceptive measures, which they should), but the odds are higher than many people realize. IUD's (the most effective non-permanent option) have about a 0.5% failure rate per year, so over the course of ~40 years of fertility (assuming sexual activity for that full range, which isn't unreasonable), you're looking at a ~18.2% chance to see a pregnancy happen. In practice, there's often a ~10-year window in that period where people do want to have kids and after which permanent sterilization becomes a plausible option (though even that's not foolproof), so those odds rarely stay that consistent for that full time frame, and that effectiveness rate is a population measure and treating it as an individual probability isn't quite right (that is, 0.5% of sexually active individuals with IUD's will become pregnant each year, not each individual has a 0.5% chance to get pregnant per year), but that's still a non-trivial chance.

Again, will it happen to everyone? No. Will it happen to enough people that everyone should plan for it? Absolutely, especially given how straightforward that planning process is.

The odds of a woman filing a false police report against you as part of a constructive eviction (or a retaliatory effort) are generally far higher than an unplanned pregnancy where precautions are actually being taken (rather than just claiming they're being taken). Especially because some police officers and other people within the system suggest it as a course of action

And there's always time to spend it. Most of the real spending is just basic shit anyway -- where a person lives, what they drive, what they eat/drink, etc -- most of which has nicer options. And the spend can buy time. If somebody commutes an hour, they can pay more to live closer to work.

Unless you're totally abstinent, it's an issue that everyone has some chance of facing at some point, and it's much better to consider it beforehand (and discuss that decision with one's partner) than to have to make a decision under pressure.

"A chance" is largely exaggerated. The kinds of women who'd lie about being on birth control are the same kind who'd lie about their opinions on abortion... and are the same kind who might dig through the trash for a used condom.

You'll get a relatively small handful of people that do change their vote based on the issue (either way, really, since some anti-abortion folks that would normally vote blue may see the Feds' efforts to codify Roe v. Wade into law as an overreach and change their vote to prevent that), but you're correct that that won't make a huge difference because most people already factor abortion rights into their voting decisions as much as they ever will. Far more significantly than that, though, this development has raised the stakes of the election quite dramatically in many people's eyes, so you're going to get quite a few people who otherwise wouldn't have bothered voting making a point of doing so. That's going to favour the left more than the right, given that the pro-abortion rights viewpoint is more popular by a considerable margin, but the exact impact remains to be seen.

But where are the impacted areas for the turnout? Again, the states most likely to ban abortion now are the same states that've been pushing restrictive abortion measures. If they couldn't get turnout over that, why would they get it over this?

While the blue states -- where it was never a concern -- might see a bump as a token gesture, it's not like it affects anything. The blue states will stay blue either way. Hell, CT's Republicans already conceded the gubernatorial election by running the same blockhead who lost in 2018 (and was literally the only guy who could lose to Lamont back then).

Which was more or less bound to happen when nominations moved away from consensus to majority, as a result of parties trying to actively obstruct each others' candidates. When parties stopped seeking universal approval, they sometimes pushed candidates who increasingly suited their preferences.

Although, I guess on a broader level, all of this goes back to shifts in SCOTUS where landmark decisions like Roe v Wade were initially decided. Or the larger trend can be traced to the growing federal government and centralized power

I just dont see how I can dig myself out of this hole. Im in my mid-30s, so I dont have time to spend getting an education that takes years and years to complete (theres not even anything I can think of that I want to go for anyway), but I also dont have time to start at a new job and work my way up either.

Not for nothing, but a lot of people career-hop in their 30s and kinda start over again. Given you're going to likely work until 67-70 (or whenever Medicare kicks in by the time you're eligible), you're not even halfway through your working years.

I loved that soup so much. Anyway the steak was good, but I went for the soup and I was very food oriented in my youth. So every few months we we go out there just so I could get the soup.

One month, many many years ago, we drove out there and......they discountinued the soup!! Supposedly my face fell and I looked so sad that my wife and friend cracked up and talked about it for years after that. I loved that soup so much.

So I will always remember Black Angus for their delicious soup and the unbearable dissapointment when it went away.

While the left is going to try to press it to their advantage, there's a strong chance the revocation won't go through anyway given the backlash so far. And, honestly, it's never seemed that likely.

Otherwise, I feel like the impact on elections is probably overstated. The loudest voices are going to vote the way they've always voted. Then the areas most for it or against it are still likely to vote the same way -- it's not like states that kept passing restrictive abortion bills are suddenly going to do a complete about-face when they could've done it all along.

The more interesting impact is a potential migration between states, where states will ultimately go more red or blue which has implications for the electoral college.
