You should try playing B/W, it sounds like it will have more of what you liked about Pearl.

I actually did play B/W back in the day. I thought I was experiencing a Poke-ssance in terms of interest but nope.

I've played one game in every gen and the farthest I got was in Y when I fought the leader of Team Flare or whatever the fuck.

So it seems they did some adjustments to the progression system, which were pretty desperately needed. Now you get at least 50 xp every match, and xp boosts are now an hour instead of 30 minutes. Wish I had held off on using them.

That's why he's great.

But I'm also not playing the game for the jobs or the challenge. I did a Geomancer SCC once but other than that, I just populate my battle party with unique characters and wreck stuff.

That's how I always played it. It felt like it made sense with the progression of the story.

It was always weird how in jRPGs despite the world's usually recognizing how important your quest is by the end of it, you're still expected to save the world with the one dude who happened to share the same dungeon cell with you at the beginning.
