At the same time they announced that the prime-minister was also being investigated, so he resigned and the absolute majority government fell. This was a great boon for our local far-right asshole party Chega that has been campaigning for years on being against corruption and wanting to clean up the country. This led them to get huge gains in the last election, now controlling almost 20% of the seats, and now we have a minority government that is very unlikely to last and it's very possible that Chega will just increase their results in the next election, because they claim to be "against the system".
