On your end though, if you want to say you dont care, making a thread about thems... kinda going in the opposite direction. Being that I am a black man and have a black child, I only keep up with this stuff so I can properly explain to my son how to be stronger than the victim complex society will use to tell him hes inherently oppressed so that he goes to college for something worthwhile instead of wasting his life on identity politics like these social justice clowns do.

Though were on opposing sides here, its worth noting that I dont entirely disagree. Identity politics have become far too important, and left a lot of people so focused on their identity and what percentage fluid they are that they often forget to have real life accomplishments and accolades so that their resume can get them somewhere further in life than a coffee shop and a tiny apartment.

But a gay guy being gay does not have to affect you. Neither do any of the #76genders crew.

5's cute and looks like fun, but looks like the type who still hasn't figured herself out, still sings to the radio, leaves her car, her house and her life a mess... and like that mess would spread to any man who exposed himself to her.
6 just screams troubled life, but she's grown from it. Looks like she knows how to have a good time, but is generally very stable.

My pick's 6

I have to wonder why these questions are asked here. Most people here are indifferent at best to rap/hip hop, and a great deal of people vehemently hate it.

I think a lot of that is the inability to distinguish between the two, or total lack of understanding why just lumping Rap/Hip-Hop together detracts from their individual purpose. Rap != Hip-Hop and it's rare that the type that appreciates one also appreciates the other for the same reason. Where do I stand? I favor hip-hop, but honestly, there's a time and a place for both. Yeah, Krizz Kaliko:

is gonna be an explosion of talent and lyricism, and when you focus on ignoring rappers and looking for hip-hop artists, you'll find a lot of incredibly talented people even beyond the 90s... but for those who don't live their life behind a keyboard/have a noteworthy social life/actually go out on Fridays... that - along with most hip-hop - comes off as preachy. Say you liked that song I posted prior... you gonna like that when you're out with a group of socially acceptable people linin' up a soco train and having a good time? Probably not... that's when this this lyrically devoid, substanceless super-trappy shit:

becomes more appropriate.

TLR_
12/27/17 4:26:37 PM

I don't mind the concept of durability systems, but I felt like BoTW lacked a lot of what made them tolerable.

A favorite title of mine from way back in the day was Darkstone on PC (also had a piss poor PSX port which was more popular for some reason, but that's another soap box for another day). Darkstone also had a durability system, but weapon durability made sense... AND you had a way to repair all weapons, not just a select few legendaries. You could repair weapons on the fly (which sacrificed maximum durability for convenience), or make your way back to town where a blacksmith could repair the item without decreasing it's maximum durability, and the durability of weapons actually felt authentic - which I feel is a bigger problem in BoTW than the fact that durability is present. BoTW wants us to believe that a military grade broadsword can't get through two to three small enemy camps without just freaking shattering. It's no wonder Calamity Ganon took Hyrule with such ease... freaking iPhone screens are more durable than their weapons. Also missing is a numeric durability value that can be monitored so we know more than the overly simplified "Hey your shit's about to break dummy." Putting in a blacksmith to repair items may have even solved the universally complained about issue of currency in BoTW feeling useless.

I hear all the weak ass excuses about forcing people to try new things, but the fact of the matter is this simply and absolutely has been done better before.

And that's not to say I hated BoTW or anything. Not at all. It's a spectacular game that's easily worth the praise it got... and try as they might, the obligatory pack of career contrarians can't detract from that. The sense of scale is astounding, the world is very much so alive and there's tons of rich, meaningful content. I'd have liked the option for some overworld music, but despite lacking that it still got 200 hours out of me.

I would say absolutely.

There's quite a few really high profile titles on the Switch if you're the type that only cares about AAA exclusives... but honestly the ones I've found make me enamored with it are all the small greats. Wonderboy, Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack, Floor Kids, Poi... and the sheer versatility of the hardware even makes massively multiplat titles a little more valuable on the Switch.

I'm already creating tons of memories with my son and daughter playing Fast RMX, USF2 & Mario Kart... and the wife and I play Snipperclips all the time.

On the major two consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) I'm finding digital to be the superior choice.

With PS3 and 360, I had the benefit of knowing that I didn't have to go through long, painful installations... me getting off the couch and swapping discs actually came with that bit of justification. Now the disc just serves as a "key" to allow loading content that's already on the system. If I wanted to be subjected to a full install before I play, I'd rather just buy digital and have the benefit of being able to swap games without the physical media.

As someone evenly invested in all of them.

PC fanboys are the most elitist and cult-like.

Sony ponies come in second, and have an almost Apple-like sense of self-supremacy

Nintendo peoples are chill until you get to the FE, Earthbound and Smash fanbase

Microsoft's camp is by far the most cool and mentally stable.

You're definitely onto something with the notion PC gamers want to convert others over. I'm not even gonna act like I've been above that. For every person talking about high initial cost, I'm getting steamdb.info/sales in their bookmarks and preaching the word about just how much they save, just how more control they have, and how there's not the constant battle of "[x] architecture is different, so [y] game from your history isn't supported" ...I can still play all my Dark Forces: Jedi Knight from 20 years ago. I will say that 30-year old me isn't as dismissive of console gaming as 18-year old me. I'm kinda tired of the constant war between chat clients and all these different storefronts... no longer a fan of dedicating the first 5-15 minutes of a new game being tweaking the settings to my liking... and sorta feeling the simplicity and ease of use of consoles now. I've batted around the thought of selling my gaming PC when the Xbox One X drops.

As for my feelings on it, I'll just copypasta my response on said video.

Y'know, for a good long while there was something drawing me to check out FFXIII. So I finally got it (this was about a year ago).

80 hours later, I can say with utmost certainty that almost every criticism about this game can be solved with "You didn't play FFXIII" or "You aren't far enough to know what you're talking about."

FFXIII was outstanding. The further I got, the more amazingly the characters' personalities developed... but moreso, I got to see every single common criticism collapse in a spectacular manner. The romance between Snow and Serah is more heavy-hitting than the romance in EVERY other FF game before. Those complaining about how annoying Hope didn't even make it halfway as there's a particular game changer (I think Ch5 or 7) where his balls drop and he becomes one of the most useful and awesome characters. The development between Hope and Snow gets fucking crazy intense... and SAZH!!! ...freaking Sazh man... Sazh's story will tear your heart to shreds as you learn more about him... and while Lightning seems to be set up to resist character development, Fang brings it right out of her. Oh and "Mash [confirm] to win every fight?" Lol you can get your whole team bodied by a regular ass enemy in chapter 5 trying that shit... I actually found XIII to be a great deal harder than other FFs. In other FF games, you can drift through thoughtlessly macro'ing with attack/attack/heal/hitall magic'ing, save for a small handful of megabosses. XIII requires you to be a TON more involved.

For those concerned about linearity... Jirard ya did a great job slappin' em silly with Gran Pulse. This blows the major criticism completely out of the water (and again exposes that the critics haven't spent near enough time with XIII to have a well-constructed opinion). Even still, I'd even like to argue that most FF games only have a false sense of freedom anyway... FF4's another of my favorites too... but most of the time that "big open world" has forced progression too often only giving one area a player has access to unless they want to arbitrarily backtrack... and so what if it's linear in the cocoon segment? That's a huge contributor as to why the people who played this game enjoyed it's narrative. When there's a theme of escaping fate, the linearity works for the progression.

Having completed this game. I can see why it managed to uphold a good rating even though it's become 'the cool thing' to trash XIII... I'd like to say I've put a lot of time into FFXIII-2 and 3, but I'm still working on all the side-quests that FFXIII apparently didn't have XD

That all said, I'm not surprised at all at the FFXIII hate. Generally speaking, people tend to just flow with whatever's colloquially accepted with a conquer by numbers strategy... so if a hundred thousand people call it "Final Hallway XIII," it's less risky to chuckle along with them instead of putting forth the effort of individual thought and seeing if it's a blind following the blind situation.

Final Fantasy XIII has better plot execution, character development, and a more in-depth romance sub-plot than every FF prior. Trying to mash "confirm" to win every battle will get you dropped by regular ass enemies beyond chapter 4. Also only the Cocoon segment is linear, Gran Pulse adds in a big open world and tons of sidequests that can launch playtime into hundreds of hours.

Valkyrie Profile is really fucking repetitive, and short-lived character development that makes it really hard to feel invested in any of the characters beyond their debut. Since there's no emotional attachment to the characters, all I can focus on is how unbearably repetitive the level execution and battles are.

OMG teh art is no excuse for a broken game, this applies to Shadow of the Colossus and every RPG made by Sting (Riviera, Yggdra Union, etc).

The first two Golden sun games have a outrageous amount of text considering just how flat all the characters are left and how weakly the plot is executed. It's riding purely on aesthetic appeal an admittedly awesome soundtrack. Dark Dawn is the only exception. The characters are developed wonderfully, yet because graphic trickery is not an asset this time 'round there's no wow factor to hook people in. From a developmental standpoint, Dark Dawn is vastly superior to the first two... and the psynergy is just really damn cool to use with the touchscreen.

FFVII really is a poorly translated, buggy mess that... despite it's shortcomings, deserves every bit of praise it gets. Not overrated, not one bit. Dated, but very, very generation defining and revolutionary for both the genre and the media format.

No... but I do strongly believe groups like BLM aren't doing us any good.

I've heard this argument many times and I don't buy it.

BLM is accomplishing their mission - if you doubt that, look here:

http://news.gallup.com/poll/206057/americans-worry-race-relations-record-high.aspx

Note that around 2014, right around the time the group formed and started demonstrating against police killings, race relation concerns started to spike. People like to blame Obama, but the first three quarters of his term were pretty much par for the course on race relations; but when BLM hit the scene, all of a sudden people are talking about this issue.

Being bluntly honest with you, whether you individually *buy* it or not has no bearing on reality.

First off, the sample size of that link you provided doesn't even cover 1/100th a percent of the US population. 1018 members of a study are enough to conclude nothing about the American body... that's roughly one person to speak on behalf of every three counties within the states. This is a trash source, and can't be used to speak on behalf of any more than the randomly sampled 1018 adults. Also, the correlation between them and BLM "accomplishing their mission" is beyond jumping to a conclusion.

BLM is directly taking power away from all black people who get onboard the movement by putting them at the mercy of a list a white person will have to fulfill... they don't get offered better jobs or a better lifestyle as a result, no better state of being comes to a BLM member... and being that their demands are not being fulfilled, them "accomplishing their mission" is incorrect too.

If you were to tell me their mission was to create racial divide so that there'd be something to talk about... yeah, that'd be feasible as there's real, tangible evidence to support that.

"I want the right to vote, own land, reach higher levels of education and work" is a much different struggle than "I'm mad because the new Pokemon game on 3DS only has boy and girl to choose from and this is a microaggression and it's oppressive and I can't finish sentences because I majored in sociology and my professional skills are worthless in the real world"

The same people hate both of these things.

Not even close.

If I object to team #76genders, does that mean I also must hate educated, homeowning black males (therein hating myself)? No... but I do strongly believe groups like BLM aren't doing us any good. Every list of demands from them just puts those of us onboard in a position of mercy. Those lists of demands give white people power over us that they didn't have. There's tons of that good 'ol STEM money out here for any of my fellow black people to come scoop up... and though BLM would rather piss on MLKs efforts, he got off his ass and took action so that no one could stop an ambitious black person... but themselves. If BLM was a group focused around making black lives matter by working on our horrible retention rate in STEM fields, I'd be onboard... but they're not... just out here holding up traffic, beating up random white people (some of which even side with BLM), contradicting themselves and setting black businesses on fire... you wanna talk about microaggressions? I wanna talk about how much of a major-aggression it is to associate 60s freedom fighters and these spoiled snowflakes.

Far from just being me either... actually, the bulk of the "skeptic" movement doesn't even lean right, didn't vote Trump... and many of them are a lot more accepting of calling people by their preferred pronoun provided they don't spaz out on us for getting it wrong the first time.

Were they even SJWs in the 60s? Then they actually had a real, tangible cause and made realistic moves to win outside of "I don't feel like growing up, baby me for 30 more years and allow me to be mediocre for $15/hr"

The only reason they weren't called sjws in the 60s is because the term didn't exist back then. Those people were pretty hated back then, and their complaints were considered overreactions over trivial things.

Coming from the viewpoint of a black male who grew up in the ghetto and is now an engineer... their struggles of an SJW don't compare to a freedom fighter.

One wants equal opportunity, one wants equal outcome.

The former of which actually had ambition and took action against true injustices... the latter of which... is an SJW.

Unfortunately. A bunch of English, math notes, wickedly detailed science notes that have done me zero good... I'd wager they could've just feeding math down software engineering major's throats after geom and we'd have been just fine.

Definitely holding onto the books. The resell value on them was absolutely pathetic, and it's (in some psychotic way) rewarding to look at the shelf of bullshit I went through.
