YEEESS!!

Just finished the main story of Xenoblade Chronicles X (After 182 hours of recorded playtime).

And after 2 hours of grinding I finally got my hands on the Ares 90. The most powerful stock Skell. (I say "stock" since you can grind out more powerful versions of other skells if you really want)

http://www.crenet-games.com/guides/img/xenoblade-x/ares90.jpg

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/InLJYzW5O6o/maxresdefault.jpg

Not my own screencaps since I don't know how to do that on a Wii U, but it's the same Skell.

Well clearly your daughter has become a time lord and is able to create rifts in time where she plays games for hours on end without you knowing.

You should be aware of the "Max Weapon Damage" glitch that's in the game.

I forgot the specifics on how the game treats the coding, but basically, for any weapon in the game, it's max damage range is only ever going to be +99 from it's lowest stat.

So let's say for example, you have two rifles.

One has a damage range of 300-500
The other has a damage range of 320-420

The first one actually has, for actual damage calculation when you fight, a range of 300-399.
While the second one has 320-419.

So yeah, when comparing weapons, just looks at the lowest number for the range. Also, this means Attack Plus gems are basically useless (unless you pair it with Weapon Stability Gems which raise the minimum).

Just... get on it. Seriously.

Yeah, Murata is a beast of a mangaka.

Draws 143 pages in 30 days. (Almost the length of a normal manga volume)

Calls it 1 chapter.

Dude is insane.

OH MY GOD

So the long-awaited 143 page chapter of One Punch Man just came out.

It.

Was.

Amazing.

I can definitely see why it needed to be that long. The action flowed so smoothly, and the fights were so well detailed that cutting it in the middle would just break the flow and ruin the entire reading experience. It almost felt like I was just watching stills from the anime, that's how amazing the movements flowed so smoothly from one panel to the next.

If this ever does get animated, I have no doubt it would need an hour long special episode to fully capture all the details that were drawn in it.

But what's even more amazing is that Murata managed to finish all of that, all the action and the double page spreads, in just 30 DAYS. That's almost 5 PAGES A DAY. That's INSANE.

Most mangaka already struggle with finishing 1 page a day (with the story boarding, line work, inking, screentones, cleaning, etc.) but Murata manages to quintuple their work and crank them out almost literally nonstop, with ZERO drop in quality. (Special mention must also be given to his assistants who were also equally important in the process).

You guys really need to read it and see for yourself the work of this god-mangaka.

Heck yeah! Anything fluffy, funny, wholesome, and unique is always within my wheelhouse.

It gives a nice balance and contrast to all the isekai I've been reading (which are usually action, ecchi, harem oriented) and to all the gore fests, tragedies, and serious drama that I also read from time to time.

And it also serves as a nice sweet filler between the shounen actions and rom/coms that come out weekly.

Basically, I'll read and enjoy anything.

I mentioned it before, but this manga is really cute:

https://myanimelist.net/manga/78537/Karakai_Jouzu_no_Takagi-san

It's about a guy who is in a neverending war with the girl who sits next to him in class, to embarass/ridicule each other, except he loses pretty much every time. It's like Tonari no Seki-kun meets.. I don't know; Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

It's also supposed to be getting an anime next year.

Love that manga.

Did you know that there was a spin-off manga about their future married life?

https://myanimelist.net/manga/108187/Karakai_Jouzu_no_Moto_Takagi-san

I think the story was that it was made by a fan, and was officially put into the magazine by winning a contest or something.

Regardless, it was officially authorized by the original mangaka so it's basically canon now.

Hey, do whatever you need to play this awesome game. :) I just want more people to know about it.

I also forgot to mention that playing on the DS has the added benefit of using the Mingle system to level up pins.

Basically, whenever you use the wireless function and put the system in sleep mode, you have a chance to get connected to a random "alien" and get EXP for your pins. Some pins can only evolve via mingle points so if you're aiming for those, you have to use the DS.

Trust me on this. You don't.

The game's built around the touchscreen to do everything, and the combat requires you to do precise flicks and slashes to fight. (Some attacks also require you to tap multiple times, draw circles and lines, etc.)

There's also a mission where you have to use the DS's microphone, so you're pretty much screwed if you're playing on an emulator.

So....what you are saying is that itd be even better? Since mouse control is way more precise?

Eh. Depends on how good you are at a mouse.

I couldn't draw circles very well with a mouse, and rapid slashes were a bit harder than just holding a stylus like pencil and flicking the screen.

Then again. I'm not a big PC gamer, so I don't have that much experience using a mouse for games. YMMV and all that.

The microphone problem was the real kicker though. I had to use cheat codes to get past that part.

Been playing some TWEWY lately. I'm assuming I'm on a ng+ since I have my old items/powerups/pins and was at the beginning of the story. Figure I'll go through and try to get as many new items/pins as possible this run, though I don't have ultimate difficulty or the ability to chain more than 4 battles yet.

TWEWY doesn't have NG+

Rather, it has the option of revisiting any "day" in the game once you've beaten the last boss.

You can then fulfill secret missions to unlock secret reports written by someone that fleshes out the backstory and adds some more lore.

There's also a secret "alternate timeline" chapter focused around a version of Shibuya where Tin Pin Slammer reigns supreme. This is also where you can unlock the Ultimate difficulty, and also some exclusive and rare pins.

...

I freaking LOVE The World End With You if that wasn't obvious enough.

Argh! Goddammit, this is the bad thing about reading mangas, the hiatuses.

Mousou Telepathy is on an indefinite hiatus until the mangaka de-stresses and gets back her motivation.

Dad, The Beard Gorilla, and I, while not a hiatus on the mangaka side, is on hiatus for the translators until Summer 2018 when the volume is released.

Those were my favorite fluffy and warmhearted mangas to read, and now I have nothing to fill that void.

On the other hand though, the mangaka for Hunter X Hunter has supposedly recovered well enough to go back to regular serialization.

Welp, it's finally ended.

I think all of us here has experienced that bittersweet feeling when you finally finish reading/watching an amazing series you've invested so much of your life and time into.

You know that feeling? That feeling that you know you'll never read something like it anywhere else again. That feeling that your journey in seeing your beloved characters grow, and seeing yourself growing with them over the years, is finally ending. That feeling that, although you feel sadness that its finally ending, you feel grateful and genuinely happy that you've gotten to experience and share just a small part of these characters amazing lives, and through them, made YOUR OWN life just a tiny bit better.

I don't think I can ever truly articulate how much Jitsu wa Watashi wa has affected my life over the years.

All I can say is, thank you, Eiji Masuda, for bringing such joy and genuine happiness into my life.

Plus, if you're still in the mood for another wholesome father/daughter family fun manga, I recommend My Dad, The Beard Gorilla, and I

Fair warning though, it's about the daily life of a widower and his daughter (and his brother moving in to help with the chores), so expect some chapters with heavy emotional scenes depicting them coping with their loss, in equal parts with adorable and hilarious moments with the daughter.

Holy hell, Champion scans just celebrated their one year anniversary and they (and a bunch of other scanlator groups) just dumped a A LOT of new chapters for all their series. Guess what they specialize in?

Also, is it bad that I've read each and every one of these?

Such a goddamn disappointment.

And he just started drawing Rurouni Kenshin again for his Hokkaido Arc.

well... fuck

And the Hokkaido Arc of Rurouni Kenshin just started too.

Hope he gets to draw while in prison.

But seriously though, it's a massive bummer to learn one of your favorite artists is such a scumbag.

Man, there really are a lot of trashy isekai manga out there now.

It's almost to the point where you just see the word isekai in the title, and you can immediately tell "oh it has an overpowered MC with a cheat ability," "yup, there's him steamrolling through the kingdom that summoned him", "oh and of course there's the obligatory slave girl harem." "oh and of course they're so in love with the MC that they're literally throwing themselves on top of him." (Seriously though, what's with Japan and slave girls?)

It really makes me appreciate the really standout ones like the non-combat isekai, like "pharmacy isekai" "farmer isekai", "pest-control isekai", "forced to become king isekai" and especially ones that subvert tropes like Shield Hero, Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, and Mushoku Tensei.

I was prompted to rant about this because the two new chapters from Mushoku Tensei were so heavy with intense emotional drama, deep insights into the characters personality and development, some excellent subversion of expectations and tropes, and overall just some damn good writing.

Why can't all isekai's be like this?

...

Though I say that, I will still continue to read every new isekai manga, just on the off chance that they might be a new hidden gem. :P

Man, I'm just glad I left that country before any of the really big stuff happened.

Fun fact, I was born and raised in Davao City, which is where Duterte got his start in politics by getting elected as the mayor there.

Not so fun fact, I think it was when I was around when I started high school that I learned about the infamous DDS (Davao Death Squads).

While the area I lived in was fine for the most part. There were other areas of the city that were absolute shitholes. They make 90's Detroit look like a freaking paradise in comparison.

Duterte got elected as Mayor by promising a thorough and "aggressive" approach in cleaning up the city. He was not lying.

Granted, I was in my "edgy" high school phase and didn't really bother paying attention to that stuff, so I don't really know how much damage and "cleanup" the DDS did back in those times. All I remember is thinking to myself "damn, he's doing some good work and those bad people deserve what's coming to them."

Now, you can't even recognize those areas anymore. They put up malls, hotels, housing communities, schools, all that stuff. No joke, Davao was ranked as one of the most dangerous cities in the Philippines when I was there, and when I left, it was ranked as one of the cleanest and safest. (Although, how much of that is propaganda by Duterte is hard to tell).

...

Don't really know what my point was when I was making this post. Just wanted to give you guys some perspective I guess?

It was purged a while ago now.

Although, isn't there like a potd archive thing? Don't know if it gets updated regularly or not, or if it even keeps track past a certain date, or if it even exists.

color exclusivity?

i don't know what that is.

as long as it doesn't require going online, i can pretty much check out whatever

Yeah, in Sun/Moon the colors you got for your clothes were different for each version.

In Sun you got: Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, and Beige.

In Moon you get: Green, Blue, Navy Blue, Purple, and Grey.

If you wanted to color your clothes with the palette from the other version, you had to do some complicated stuff involving the festival plaza.

Okay? The fact that Overwatch popularized loot crates in fully priced AAA games instead of inventing loot crates from scratch doesn't make them completely removed from the "AAA game loot crate epidemic" we're facing now as they would have you believe.

they would not have me believe this

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/overwatch-doesnt-belong-in-loot-box-controversy-di/1100-6454766/

quote from Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime
"I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with crates that give you randomized items..." "I think that whatever the controversy is, I don't think Overwatch belongs in that controversy."

idk if it was possible in the first game, but you can just flat out remove your hat and not wear one.

That was in the original Sun/Moon.

What I want to know is there's still that BS game restricted color exclusivity, and if you still need to have a dye shop in your festival plaza in order to get the colors you want.

except they did not popularize them

they came out when lootboxes were already super popular in games like CSGO, TF2, and a slew of mobile games like clash of clans

https://www.giantbomb.com/loot-boxes/3015-9059/games/

You can see that directly after Overwatch came out, games with lootboxes start coming out every month. Sometimes, even just a few days in between.

Before that, you'd see a few months or even a few years between games with lootboxes.

So yeah, Overwatch kinda did popularize lootboxes.

Dunno if you legitimately don't know or haven't heard about it, but, they added "regional variants" in Sun/Moon.
