I've been searching for more good podcasts to get into and kept hear Radiolab being this absolute masterpiece, I must have thought anyway. The way some people talk about it as if it's the greatest thing to ever been made.

So I finally get around to listening to one.


Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus Christ was I put off immediately.

From the very fucking second it started I was given an idea what kind of bullshit I would be listening to from the HORRENDOUS intro. Seriously there was not a single person who thought

"Is it possible that we shouldn't give the absolute first impression people will get from our show is that no one that works to produce this garbage can even SAY the the two words that make up the name without sounding like a bunch of awkward amateur idiots"

I encourage you if you've never heard of this show to try and find just any one episode and stay for the intro and you'll see what I mean.

And if you endure it through the rest of an episode, and endure is the correct word here because it's torturous. You'll find that what is absolutely fantastic content, great stories and information that eager listeners like myself crave. Is hidden far beneath the audio equivalent to Clown ejaculate. it's a fucking mess.


What they have to say in the couple episodes I've listened to has actually been rather interesting. However, that's where the good things I have to say stop. You can't appreciate the actual content of the episode because they overproduce every fucking second of audio surrounding it and run it so far into the ground it literally becomes a chore to listen to.


For examples. The background music that misses its mark literally every time. Not just because of how hamfisted it is trying to elicite some kind of emotional response. But mostly because of how they have zero idea of where to actually fit it in the sequence of the show. A little music as a cut to break up sections of narrative and give the ears a "refresh" of sorts is not at all what this shit ass show does. Cus that would be a smart thing for smart shows, and this is a dumdum show for dumdums.


How about the way the narrator will FUCKING TALK OVER GUESTS TO EXPLAIN THE THING THE GUEST IS SAYING IN A WORSE VOICE. You can't actually drop your ego to let your fucking guests talk for 3 seconds? You HAVE to talk over them and explain what they're trying to say to your stupid fucking audience?


In moderation focusing a narrative with supplementary audio can absolutely be a fantastic tool, but that's not what Radiolab does. They're not taking Joe Blow's testimonial and adding a couple flourishes of their own to send the point home. They're literally taking the words from out of these peoples mouths and giving it to their shitty narrators while the original recording plays lifelessly in the background, getting decimated by the voice of someone who sounds like the geeky teenager from The Simpsons.

I could go on and on ranting about this fucking horseshit and I will later.

Coming from the first that had zero campaign expectations were pretty low.

Yet it was bloody fantastic. It has so many amazing moments ans is the absolute perfect length. I hardly even touch FPS campaigns to begin with because they just get so old so quickly. Even Halo doesn't do it anymore.

They did an amazing job.

I bought the game in spite of the negativity and memes I had been seeing. I fully expected it to be a total clown fiesta but the internet has definitely blown this one out of proportion (as most things). But the one character who is absolute dogshit is Addison

Everything about her is terrible. Her horrednous face, the bored delivery on her dialogue and the just terrible wording of that dialogue. Every word out of her mouth is awful, it actually feels like it's filler dialogue written my someone else, but no one bothered to replace. In my experiences the worst of the games flaws are exclusive to this one character.
