That's fair enough. I'm not arguing anything about preference.

I'm just saying it's easy to dismiss it down to "Gamers sure love their middle-aged scruffy brown haired guys!" or whatever, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized some of the names being listed here (by myself, even) don't really look like generic cookie cutters of each other at all.

Like, there's pretty much no way people are confusing any of Soap, Nathan Drake, Marcus Fenix, or Joel for each other.

Granted, you do then have cases of like, Male Shep and Cole, but I think overall western games have gotten pretty decent at it.

For instance... Honestly, even though I said Soap because he was the first to come to mind, I'd argue his design isn't even really that generic at all. To people that play CoD, he stands out pretty decently from your typical "grizzled, stubble, buzzcut" dude even if just because he has a goofy haircut that even gets made fun of in the games. We're just so used to crazy hair like Cloud's and Guile's that it doesn't even register to us because Soap's hair is only goofy for a normal guy and not gravity defying batshit insane.

I disagree to the extent that the only reason they're unmemorable in look is because they look like real, regular people that you could actually see every day, and that's the intention. Calling them "generic" suggests they're bad designs.

Like, if you throw Nathan Drake into a Final Fantasy game full of more bizarre, fantastical designs, then yeah, it's super generic to the point that it doesn't even fit the style, and that's bad design. In games like Uncharted, Call of Duty, and the like, it's the opposite. If you throw Cloud or Sora or JRPG protagonist #55 into one of those games, now THEY stand out and look bad.

Basically, the point I'm making is that it's really hard to make "memorable" character designs in realistic games without giving them some kind of bizarre, unrealistic addition to their design in order to stand out from everyday people. That doesn't mean the designs are bad, and stuff like that meme seem super dismissive to that fact. People are just used to more ridiculous designs from Japanese games, but it's not really a fair comparison.

That said, I think stuff like that meme above and the whole "Nathan Drake is so generic!" is kinda unfair.

If you're making a game intended to be based in reality, then your characters are going to look "generic" because they're going to look realistic. Realistic isn't absurdly spiky hair, 7 foot swords, and a million zippers.

A few years ago I made a "women drivers am i right" joke in a topic about this super over the top silly traffic incident, and he completely went off about how it means I'm this unrepentant sexist bigot with no hope and I'm all that's wrong in this world and all this stuff to the point where even other people who don't even like me were like "...dude, what" and I'm pretty sure he has written me off ever since.

And what I mean by that is in the case with the PSP, batteries bulging due to age of the components is becoming more common at this point. That's not the only thing that can cause it, though. Defects can, shortages, being in excessive heat or cold, or so on can cause it to happen to a battery at any point in its life.

What I meant is that as of right now, there aren't stories in bulk of 3DS batteries randomly bulging, and it makes sense since they're not as old.

Not saying it's impossible. A battery can start bulging in less than a year for a number of reasons.

It's just that it's unlikely to happen from age in bulk at this point. That doesn't discount things like defects, excess heat or cold, etc.

I don't know about the Go, but the PSP battery cover is pretty snug, so you'd notice a bulge if it's bad, though it might still be worth looking at in case.

There's been a large uptick in people noticing their PSP batteries expanding/cracking/even exploding in recent months. I found mine having expanded and burst the battery case off about a month ago and disposed of it, and apparently it wasn't just some freak case. The batteries are reaching an age where this is becoming common in general.

70% gives more to people who made more money and less to people who made less money, which seems like it just boosts both problems of "People don't want to return to work" and "People can't make it on this amount."

It just means people who will now be getting more than the $600 definitely aren't going to be in a rush to get back to work, and the people it actually needs to help are going to be screwed over.

My previous issue with the Bucks awhile ago was that they wrestled like they were literally playing a video game. They immediately just went for big moves and only ever seemed to pin at the very end.

I also assumed this changed over time, though, but I haven't watched enough to know for sure.

I'd say it's two-fold with Muffin.

He probably likes the idea of them staying "Football Team" because he sees it as a half measure of "Okay, we're changing our name, but we clearly don't want to so this is what you get."

Obviously, this isn't actually the case of what's happening, so he's not gonna get his wish.

The point about the color scheme was a different point. It was an aside to basically say "It's cool because this is basically what they did back when they couldn't license the actual teams"

The trolling would be if they literally kept the name "Football Team." It has nothing to do with the color scheme. The color scheme is completely apart from the logo itself. Teams are known for their colors just as much, if not moreso, than their logo, such as the Vikings being purple and gold.

He brought up the color scheme because old unlicensed games used to, say, have Minnesota be purple and gold, but instead they'd be the Minnesota Maniacs or whatever.
