Not in Florida, sentencing guidelines don't allow a life sentence for manslaughter.
This is surprising. Florida is a state that just signed the ability to execute child molesters, reduce the need to unanimous death penalty to 3/4th of the jury, and lets minors to get sentenced to life with parole for aiding in murder.

Post the source for this.

It was never figured out. I follow the scene. You're straight up lying. The entire piracy scene knows this since it's been a giant issue. The Switch was released in 2017. You still couldn't access online with the 3DS, but that had nothing to do with them since the 3DS didn't need modchips to be hacked. Edit: there was a workaround for the 3DS but again, all you needed was ****.

Post the legal filings.

The 3DS definitely could access online in 2017 while modded. It was one of the easiest times to do that. I did mass giveaways in Pokemon Sun with genned Pokemon back then. Speaking of the homebrew scene, most people generally agree that he deserved getting hit for what he did, even if the sentences were a little too extreme. But seeing that you believe a minor deserves getting life without parole for aiding in a murder, something that's against international standards, as well as defending the extreme anti-protest legislations by the UK, that doesn't seem like an issue you should have either.

idk it's kind of true. For example, even something as big as spies were in the past, there are now barely if any spy comics around. Whereas there are a ton of spy mangas in a variety of genres. Not to mention romance manga (popular with women) are as massive as romance movies, maybe even bigger these days, while romance comics are cryptids.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utGdLiGOWFg&t=1233s

Its not too hard to figure out, really, he said. Theres a lot of dedication, passion, and craft in manga comics. And thats missing, almost entirely, from the Big Two. Marvel and DC still run the store here. They still are the market leaders. And unfortunately, there is no variety there. Theres nothing really different. Theres not something for everybody the way there is in manga.
I mean, in Japanese manga theres golf comics. Theres not one comic about golf. Theres multiple [manga] about golf. And Ive made reference on these videos to one of my favorite manga, which is about fishing. Its just about fishing. Its not about vampires fishing on another planet or witches fishing or fishing after a zombie apocalypse. This is about guys fishing. Surf casting and whatever. Fishing from boats, fishing on the shore, fishing from the banks of rivers, and the stories are fascinating, and beautifully drawn, and beautifully realized.
But here, what do we get? We get superheroes and poorly done superheroes. There really isnt anything else at the mainstream companies. Its superheroes, superheroes, superheroes.
Why, why would you want to read this crap if you had a choice of reading a genre that you prefer, be it horror, or mystery, or espionage, or golf? When theres only one flavor in American comics, of course Japanese comics are going to win the day.
He went on, The biggest problem here is that all I see American comic book creators, the people in the mainstream do, is complain about manga. Well, why dont you learn from manga? Why dont you look at what manga is doing and do that? And I dont mean draw people with huge eyes and lots of speed lines. Do more varied stories, do more complex stories. Put more effort into the artwork. Put more effort into the craft.
While he thinks comic book writers ought to look toward manga, he doesnt mean just copy it. If they try to copy it just like they did in the 90s here in the United States, theyll just get it all wrong. They dont know what theyre doing. They have no interest. Theyre just complain about it, as if thats going to get them any more readers. . . I dont see the mainstream, the Big Two ever catching up, he said.

some juvenile offenders deserve to spend life in prison but sentencing a child to life with no chance of parole shouldn't be something that happens (and doesn't with new sentences finally). in this case, the young girl deserves a lengthy prison sentence and perhaps shouldn't get out if evaluated as a risk to society in the future, but sentencing a 14 year old (when the crime was committed) to life without parole is fucked.

school shooters and other mass murderers should generally just be denied parole when eligible as they will always be a danger to society, but there should be a mandatory review somewhere in there

Not sure why you're trying to downplay that the girl helped murder someone. She knew exactly what she was doing. "She was too young and lacked brain rationality." Nah, teens are old enough to know not to kill each other or to help others to kill.

By this logic it'd be fine to execute minors if they had committed the crime themselves. Again, find any example of other more advanced states and developed countries having a sentence like this.

This is far more common than a minor getting sentenced for life without parole.

In fact:
"A few countries worldwide have allowed for minors to be given lifetime sentences that have no provision for eventual release. Countries that allow life imprisonment without a possibility of parole for juveniles include Antigua and Barbuda, Cuba, Dominica, Israel, Nigeria, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and the United States. Of these, only the U.S. currently has minors serving such sentences. The University of San Francisco School of Laws Center for Law & Global Justice conducted international research on the use of the sentence of life without parole for juveniles, and has found no cases outside the U.S. in which the sentence is actually imposed on juveniles.[17] As of 2009, Human Rights Watch has calculated that there are 2,589[18] youth offenders serving life without parole in the U.S.[19]"

"The U.S. practice of sentencing juveniles to life imprisonment without a possibility of parole violates international standards of justice, as well as treaties to which the U.S. is a party. Each state must ensure that its criminal punishments comply with the United States' international treaty obligations:
  • The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; the oversight Committee instructed the U.S. to: "ensure that no such child offender is sentenced to life without parole [and] adopt all appropriate measures to review the situation of persons already serving such sentences".
  • The United Nations Convention Against Torture; the oversight Committee warned the U.S. that juvenile life sentences without a possibility of parole could constitute "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment" for youth.
  • The oversight body of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination found that juvenile life without a chance of parole is applied disproportionately to black minors, and the U.S. has done nothing to reduce what has become pervasive discrimination. The Committee recommended that the U.S. discontinue the use of this sentence against persons under the age of eighteen at the time the offense was committed, and review the situation of persons already serving such sentences and in 2016, in the case of Montgomery v. Louisiana, the Supreme Court ruled that Miller v. Alabama was to be applied retroactively to offenders convicted before 2012.
The United Nations General Assembly has called upon governments to: "abolish by law, as soon as possible...life imprisonment without possibility of release for those below the age of 18 years at the time of the commission of the offense".
International standards of justice hold that a juvenile life imprisonment without a possibility of parole is not warranted under any circumstances because juvenile offenders lack the experience, education, intelligence and mental development of adults and must be given a reasonable opportunity to obtain release based on demonstrated maturity and rehabilitation.[26]
By March 2023, 27 states and the District of Columbia have completely banned life without parole sentences for all juvenile offenders while five states have not banned the sentence but do not have any juvenile offenders serving life without parole."

This is literally a violation of international standards.

The only reason the homeowner is walking amongst us today is because she didnt participate in the actual beating and got a celebrity lawyer.

The reason is that it's Florida. Again, I'd love if you could show me an incident of minors (the girl wasn't participating in the beating either) and accomplices who turned themselves and the others in getting life in blue states and other developed countries.

Even as he confessed he was only worried about himself and said the dude they murdered deserved it. These people lured somebdy with the intent to murder him. The kid you're talking about beat the guy over the head with a stick so the other guy could shoot him. They stuck him in a bathtub and broke his legs so he would be easier to move, and then burned him with tires to hide the smell of burning flesh.

And he clearly felt incredibly guilty about it. The entire reason minors are under different laws is because of the lack of brain rationality they have compared to adults. That said, I know you're a pretty hardcore right-winger, most of the people itt have been so I guess this is just a matter of inherent differing beliefs that can't really be changed, similar to whether one believes fetuses are people or not.
I am kind of curious why a lot of the hardcore anti-death penalty/rehabilitation folks rarely show up in these topics. I suppose it is easier to preach beliefs when there isn't a direct incident that could strike emotion being the subject. Although tbf most of you don't show up in those topics either.

Was two years after the murder, so before she even got resentenced.

I could maybe see the brother getting off if his family gets him a good lawyer, but the sister is cooked. She lured him to the house knowing full well that he was going to at the very least get beaten to within an inch of his life. It would take bringing Johnnie Cochran back from the grave to give her even the slimmest hope.

Still, the fact that they all got initially sentenced for life is insanely harsh. I was watching that video and was surprised to see all of them get life at the end. I was expecting around 25-40 years for the accomplices, less for the minors, and life/DP for the actual killer, which it usually is in the crimes that take place in other states. This is definitely more of a Florida thing.

They weren't really minors though except for the victim and the ginger siblings.

Murderer, two of the accomplices and the homeowner were all legal adults.

I don't really like Piers Morgan, but if you have any doubt of this girls guilt, go watch his interview with her. She's cold af, and Piers has said that he found her legit disturbing just how nonchalant she was talking about it.

Yeah, I'm talking about the ginger siblings. Her brother who was 16 was the one who basically turned himself in and confessed to everything and still got life. The legal adult homeowner was actually one that just got 10 years.
Also, when was this interview taken place? Because of course spending years in prison would make someone cold af. That's kind of the whole thing about US's poor justice system.

Nah, it was well deserved. The story behind this case is fucked.

Ringleader got death, the rest of them got life aside from the step dad (Who had mental issues so he couldn't be held legally responsible) and the owner of the house who originally got life, but then lawyered up hard with Jose Baez (AKA Casey Anthony's lawyer) so she got released after 10 years.

I mean, if a good lawyer was able to get the owner of the house off surely there was some merit to the sentences being excessively harsh. Apparently sentencing minors to life imprisonment was actually ruled unconstitutional after this but the floridian judge still doubled down on it. I just think they wouldn't have gotten life in any blue state or any other developed country (hell, Japan is pretty well known for being harsh on criminals and even they have policies that are more lenient on minors).
I'd love to be proven wrong with examples. The Sylvia Likens case had all the minors only getting several years for it.

So sounds like the most she did was text the victim to lure him to a place where the actual killer who thought up the whole thing murdered him. Her 16yo half-brother who was the one who confessed everything to the police and turned them in also got a life sentence.

Man, Florida is ultra harsh. I've heard of school shooters getting less.
