Every ten minutes.

I only played on the N64 and Melee but I loved actually working to unlock the characters and figure out the challengers etc. Now they practically hand you one every few games.

Don't get me wrong I love those games, I'm just kinda over them for the moment because I've been playing Breath of the Wild, Assassin's Creed Origins, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, etc.

I'm only in gold though lol. I main Zenyatta but I heard WB was going to be a sleeper pick this season so I thought I'd try him out. Roll in, fly up, slam, shield, pop off and run away. Rinse and repeat. You don't get a lot of good stats or medals but it's just so disruptive it helps everyone else clean up easily. Also watch some videos on good spots to fly in from above.
