"If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon," Miyamoto said. "They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games."

you mean in art style? I don't think she was on the show before the change, so we never got to see her under the old style. I kinda wish we could have. but the early seasons never even mentioned Superman I don't think. Superman didn't even exist in that world until they made the Superman Animated Series and then crossed over.

Yeah. I don't think she ever looked hotter than in that show and Superman.

The music is often better on Genesis, but I think Owen's theme came through better on the SNES. In this case, the SNES version sounds closer to his actual theme.

What does this post even mean

The classic the justification for holding an entire group at fault.

"They dislike us / they wronged us, so I don't like them."

I get people being resentful of individuals who try to run other people's lives. I even understand seeing religion itself as something of an accessory to the crime. But if you're the type who would feels the religious people who mind their own business are idiots, or you're the type who would put a religious figure in a video game as an antagonist or a cartoon show as the butt of a joke, then you're the aggressor. That has nothing to do with retaliation. You're going after a group for which 90% have done you no wrong.

Yeah.

It's not like religion is in any danger of going away, but we have seen a rise in the number of people who are opposed to it as a concept and it's certainly more socially acceptable to attack religion than what it would have been 15 to 20 years ago.

Not to play a religious victim narrative, but I think American media has made it to where it's more acceptable to be anti-religious than pro-religious. If you're anti-religious, you're speaking your opinion. If you're pro-religious, you're offensive because you're espousing views which not everyone can agree with. It's more of an annoyance than anything else, but it's there.

The "dragon" was never the Rancor. Thematically the Death Stars have represented the "dragon".

It represented the dragon as a physical monster which the hero had to slay. You're right, the Death Star plays the role of the dragon in terms of the thing which threatens to wipe out life as we know it. But in terms of the hero fighting a beast, that role went to the rancor.

The hero's fight with a dragon is seldom the end of the story whether it's Siegfried, Brothers Grimm, or St. George. The hero defeats the monster and the story progresses onward.

I did this in my early 20s with some of the movies that I saw as a kid. "That movie couldn't have been as empty as I remember. No way. It must have been an edited-for-time TV version and they cut out all the good stuff."

Double Dragon
Steel
Warriors of Virtue

I guess I was a bit of a slow learner but, no, Hollywood actually did release a couple of stinkers in which there was absolutely nothing going on. I mean, looking back, I see a pattern that I didn't notice back then: namely that these movies were for kids. But I couldn't believe -- and still can't believe -- that those movies were so lacking in content. It's not just that they were bad. It's that nothing really happened in any of them.

Thematically, Star Wars has always been fantasy rather than science fiction.

- princess rescue
- black knight
- a "dragon" in the form of the rancor
- good triumphing over evil

That's one of the shortcomings of the new movies. They're straight science fiction rather than being fantasy wrapped in a science fiction blanket.
