Yeah, I know that I would personally like it, but I saw guys like Pentagon and while I love him, I have to go "Will girlfriend like Pentagon if he is licking his opponent's blood?" Basically, I guess, I just need to know if the quality of venue is good (important indicator for Indy wrestling) and if they get too hardcore sometimes.

This is the venue

Sorry Stan :( I don't think anybody can deliberately make someones achilles explode though!

Next game at Ravens feels pretty important already since I need to take advantage of them missing Big Ben, Neal and Trautwein. Hopefully my D can capitalize on that. Although the Ravens D is still going to be tough to play against.

Also lol at me having the #1 D and #2 QB so far. That won't last past this week! Not a first though, I'm fairly certain Grossman had the leading QBR for a few weeks a few seasons ago

Looks like it was a fake tweet that the local media lapped up. Now they are saying they are trying to get confirmation so it looks like they were duped

I think the deal will happen but it will be a 1 year full MLE deal if it does. Which is fine, I just want it to happen sooner rather than later

Magic sign Isaiah Thomas to 2 years 23m, second year is a team option.

Well I'm happy. If he's healthy I think we are a fringe playoff team.

Edit: Which is odd as I'm fairly certain we only have the MLE so not sure how we have managed this

Yeah, like I said I have Croatia/Sweden/England all together in a cluster. I expect all those matches to be close.

It's not like Sweden have played badly. They beat both Korea and Mexico and should have gotten something from the Germany game as well. They basically topped one of the harder groups. And then they beat Switzerland who I never see as a threat but are somehow always in like the top 10 of the world rankings.

Sweden just seem to be very effective. Like in that Mexico game, Mexico has 67% possession yet still lost 3-0.

Maybe that's a bit too strong but we were clearly the better team with a decent amount of seperation. Their constant fouls prevented game flow and that benefitted them more than us really.

I feel like England are being grossly undersold by people purely because they are England.

Are they the best team left? Not by a long shot. They are probably around the 4th/5th best team left behind basically the entire upper half of the bracket.

France and Brazil are clear favorites imo. Russia are long outsiders. The 5 remaining teams are basically in a tight cluster. Maybe Uruguay and Belgium have a little separation over the other 3 but not by much. Belgium massively stumbled against Japan in a worse performance than England which is papered over by they fact they came back to score 3 late goals. Uruguay have looked good but they also haven't played anybody. They came through an incredibly weak group unscathed (as they should) and then they beat a Portugal team which massively underwhelmed in the group stage and that hardly looks any better with Spain also eliminated after progressing out of that group. Personally I think they are good for the record.

Yes England beat nobodies in the group but they did so comfortably just like Uruguay and Belgium did. The Belgium game is a non factor due to the circumstances but if you want to pull anything from it then it's that Belgium have greater squad depth which we already knew. England then comprehensively outplayed Colombia who would have been unbeaten in the group if not for that really early red card against Japan. Colombia certainly looked a better side than Portugal and Japan from the group stage matches.

People are acting like England struggled to beat some nobodies and lucked out on penalties. They outplayed Colombia who were one of the better sides left in the tournament and they would have won in normal time if the ref had been competent and kept the game under control.

Do people think the remaining sides go out and smash the hell out of Colombia or something? Colombia last matches against Brazil and Uruguay were draws. They played France in a friendly just before the world cup started and won 3-2. They are a hard and frustrating team to play against.

England are probably favorites in that match yeah, but I don't think they've looked that convincing at any point, it's pretty much just bracket placement that has made them a topic of interest when discussing potential winners. Colombia played dirty the first 75 minutes yesterday, but as soon as they stopped doing that, Colombia were clearly the better team. If Colombia had their act and play together from the beginning, England likely doesn't even get to PKs. But I don't know, Sweden is the most unpredictable team left by far. Against South Korea they looked like a team that got a lucky goal and just really wanted to hold on to the only victory they might get. At their best they look like a team that can beat England. We'll see how it goes.

This is incredibly misleading.

England were the better team by a long distance for 75 minutes. Colombia were then the better team for the final 15 minutes because of game scenario. England attempted to defend a 1-0 lead for those final 15 minutes with Colombia pressing for an equalizer.

Colombia were the better team for the first half of extra time as England looked shellshocked by the late goal forcing extra time and momentum swinging Colombia's way. This happens in a lot of games where a team claws their way back unexpectedly. England then reversed that and were again easily the better team in the second half of extra time.

There's no scenario where Colombia outplay England in normal circumstances. With the game level England outplayed Colombia for 72 minutes (57 minutes until the England goal and 15 minutes in extra time), Colombia outplayed England for 15 minutes (first half of extra time) which was heavily assisted by momentum and shock factor.

I appreciate it's a bit of a stretch (especially when your eventual success is still hypothetical) but it's not what you've done, so much as the manner in which you did it

you've only scored two goals from open play in four matches, and both were against panama

if you guys start turning it on from here and tank Sweden, Croatia and Brazil I'll be happy to reassess!

Part of the problem is the teams we have played. I'm ignoring the Belgium match as neither team actually bothered playing their real team.

Both Tunisia and Colombia played dirty as hell and ruined any attempt to actually play football. That ref yesterday was atrocious and so Colombia got away with that tactic all game. It's very hard to score from open play in those scenarios.

It's actually kind of baffling that England have been the target of such play rather than the more free flowing teams you would expect to be targeted by play like that.

Yeah it would work out for both parties. Orlando has no playmaker and is severely lacking someone who can shoot and drive and have plenty of touches. He would also be playing with people who could cover for his defensive liabilities. It allows Orlando to address the point guard position either next draft or via trade.

I honestly don't think Orlando will be awful this year if we get a point guard. We had a shit ton of injuries last year. Our best 6 players missed more games last year than the previous 4 seasons combined. Fournier, Vuc, Gordon all missed 20+ games. Ross missed almost the entire season. Isaac looked great when he played except he only played 25 games. By the time people got healthy, season was too far gone to actually try win games.

With Thomas we'd line up something like:

Thomas
Fournier
Isaac
Gordon
Bamba

Rotation: Simmons, Ross, Vucevic, Augustin

That isn't awful and is fringe playoffs in the east but likely missing out (mid 30s for wins). Last year for large swathes of the year we were rolling out teams from Augustin, Hezonja, Simmons, Iwundu, Biyombo, Mack, Afflalo, Speights and D-leaguers (Purvis, Birch, Payne) with like 1 or 2 of our actual starters

I think the only thing the league could have done about it and not like its realistic, is to not allow the Warriors to have consistently been so ridiculously over the cap. I feel like we have already gone over this several times.

International football is rarely ever about 1 player. It's too hard to carry a team to a tournament win based off 1 players brilliance and it just doesn't happen. The odd game here and there but not an entire tournament. Ronaldo hasn't had the supporting cast. Messi has been hindered by Argentina being poorly managed forever. And because they are only once every 4 years you don't get a lot of chances at it either.

There's some fantastic players who never even played in a World Cup because of their nationality hindering them.

Also it's not just England fans. Bookmaker odds universallt have England as the 4th favorite behind France, Brazil and narrowly behind Croatia. And Croatia are only ahead of them because they have already qualified for the quarter finals, they were behind them prior to that

Which means bookmakers think England are the strongest team in that half. Granted this might be somewhat slanted towards minimizing losses due to heavy betting from England fans but I'm looking at odds across all bookmakers, not just English ones. Seems like the consensus is:

Brazil - 7/2
France - 7/2
Croatia - 5/1 to 11/2
England - 11/2 to 6/1
Belgium - 6/1
Uruguay - 14/1
Colombia - 18/1

Everyone else varies between 20/1 (Russia) and 200/1 (Japan)

If England beat Colombia I'd imagine their odds would shorten to about 4/1

I think the Colombia match is the toughest of the potential games en route to the final and I'd say it's probably like 55/45 in favor of England right now purely because they were able to rest starters.

I also think it's one of those matches that will become really clear who is going to win in like the opening 15-20 minutes

Also I don't care how ahead of myself this is

If you said to any team before the tournament that your path to the final is:

Beat Tunisia
Beat Panama
Beat Colombia
Beat Sweden or Switzerland
Beat Croatia or Russia

Then they would bite your hand off. I haven't looked but that has to be up there with the weakest ever route to the final in a 32 team tournament
