The sixth gen doesn't really start until the PS2's release; the Dreamcast was just one last failed attempt by Sega to be relevant again. In the US, it only competed with the PS2 for a grand total of 2 months before Sega pulled the plug. To call it a sixth gen console is generous considering it was rushed out to the market due to the Saturn's failure and fell apart before most of the other sixth gen consoles even launched.
