Yeah that's the one I'm running. When it all comes together, it's awesome and feels good to pilot, but on the other hand it can just feel like you're floundering around when you don't get the pieces you need.

Put it together cause I'd tired of Odd Rogue, but that may be a better bet to get any climbing done.

You're not liking the Pirate version?

So you'd agree with t4? I'm not in anyway asserting that that's not the case, just asking for your impressions.

Had no idea Tempo Rogue was t4 until I looked. Felt stronker than that.

I mean, hsReplay aggregates lots of results from people as far down as rank 20, so...it might be that tempo rogue is just a higher skill deck that a lot of people seriously misplay.

Like...if you listen to hsReplay, the only playable Druid deck is Spiteful Druid, but the Druid decks people have actually taken to top 25 legend post-nerfs are like...Malygos Druid and Togwaggle Druid.

Right. And that's kind of hs replay in a nutshell; lots of good information that you kind of have to read between the lines to glean the "true" information. Like, for instance, played win rate is a stat that can vary wildly, but you have to take into account the specific card, the deck it's in, and when you'd be playing at theoretical optimal times and when you're just playing said specific card as just a Hail Mary. Mulligan win rates, drawn win rates...All have to be taken in context to be of any value.

Anyways, enough ramblings from me for a bit, I gotta wrap the kid's presents.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all I'm gonna be up all night anyway XD.

Odd Quest Warrior is in fact one of...9 decks that hsReplay currently categorizes as "tier 1" (along with Odd Paladin, Odd Rogue, Odd Warrior with dragons instead of quest, Even Paladin, Even Shaman, and three different hunter decks).

I saw that. Kinda crazy. In a good way.

Had no idea Tempo Rogue was t4 until I looked. Felt stronker than that.

Anyone playing Even Pally? It was my main deck pre-CtA nerf, but I don't have the Glass Knight and am wondering how integral to the deck it is. I've got ~12k dust, but I'm stingy as hell with it.

Side note, not nerf-related: I picked up the Winter bundle and unpacked Keleseth and Kathreena (so far). Feel like the game is telling me something....

Besides the obvious use of those two, there's a sweet Spirit of the Shark deck (basically a tempo rogue) that uses Keleseth and I was on the fence about crafting him over the past weekend, but didn't want to spend the dust on a soon to be rotated card (I do dabble in the Wild format a little, so it wouldn't be a total waste). Glad I didn't pull the trigger.

I mean, I'd chalk that particular situation/circumstance up to Activision. Eta: I'm not white-knighting Blizz here, they have more than their fair share of fuckery. But their Activision overlords said "spend less, publish more" and they have no choice but to do it.

My experience so far is that the middle stages are harder but the end is a lot easier. The bosses from 4-6 would just run away with games if I let them get any kind of momentum.

Playing my first rumble run right now, and it's not looking so good. Took Shaman with spells cost 2 less and have literally been offered one good spell through my first four picks. I have more copies of Cairne in this deck than good spells.

That said, none of the first four bosses has had anything threatening so it's still been easy so far.

Edit: Never mind, 0 good spells. Volcano is terrible when you have a ten health totem on board.

I don't think it can ever become the best Druid deck,

Maybe after rotation when Drood loses some key combo pieces tho. And spreading plague, and UI, etc. I mean, Dreampetal is going to be around to discount Maly (and any other big bois) for a long time still, assuming it's not HoF'd. So that may very well always be a thing for Druid. But without the stall and armor gain ad nauseam, perhaps Druid and its combos will look different after rotation.

Or, they'll just print more busted cards for the class and we'll all complain about it still.

That poses a yuge problem for my Murloc priest deck. XD

Honestly, I don't think this particular potential combo will be the be-all-end-all, and I think most of us would agree that druid got the metaphorical short end of the stick this expansion (because they didn't really need anything any damn way). And I'm not entirely sure this combo is working as intended, with the effects stacking like they do. Though, this example was done using a pre-built deck, so of course this interaction was rigorously play tested. Right? Right. Has to be working as intended. :/

But it's voices like Kibler and Zalae that publicly push for the control stuff and I swear, watching a reveal review stream, Kibler actually said "it's like they designed this card just for me!" And I honestly feel like they did.

Just fyi: the dungeons are "randomly" generated. Really, it's just the layout and room order that changes, but there's also different events/encounters/loot in the dungeons that are actually kinda randomized, so to 100% everything in a dungeon may take a couple tries to get everything possible.

I'm really glad it got a Switch port. The game was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, and I'd love to see it sell well enough to merit a sequel.

There's a little bit of a story in-game, but it's not a grand sweeping epic by any stretch. So don't go in expecting, Idk, Chrono Trigger or FF6 type of story. What's there is fine; there's a point to why they're doing what they're doing and going where they're going. But the meat of the game is combat, and if you like turn-based combat, Battle Chasers definitely delivers.

I love it. It's a modernized turn-based, party-based rpg. Think older Final Fantasies with some modern trappings, crafting being among them. It's gorgeous to look at, plays well, can be a bit grindy/punishing until you figure it out. Fun game. Haven't beat it yet.

If you're into the art style, the game is based on a comic series by the same name. Artist Joe Madureira is one of the greats and has done some character design for other games, most notably Darksiders. But he's had runs on X-Men and Deadpool in the late 90s that are good stuff.

Eta: saw one of the comments above me mention it, but there's a fair bit of customization you control over character builds and party composition. Lends itself to a lot of experimentation and mixing and matching.

Glad you posted about it; it's been on the back burner for a while and I need to get back into it.

Though, I will declare my own bias: I kind of love that Donais isnt above shitposting? The results are always hilarious and you definitely can't say he isn't transparent.

The thing that grinds my gears is that right above said shitpost, it reads "Principle Game Designer".

Couple ways to look at this; one way is that as lead, he's sticking his dick in the wind to take the heat instead of his team. That'd be admirable, tbh. Another way to look at it is that he's a bit of a jackass and can't take the heat and passive-aggressively fielded the bomb that vS just dropped on his game poorly (his posting history supports this view). Lastly, one could make a case that he forgot he was on his work account and meant to post that on an alt.

Regardless of how one looks at it, it's beyond a shitty look for the Principle Game Designer to shitpost in a data-driven thread that takes aim at the root of the game he designs problems.

Iksar handled this data like a champ, bullet point by bullet point. And while some of his responses are tantamount to hand waiving, at least the hand waiving is professional. This is a multi-million dollar game for a multi-billion dollar company. Donais is speaking to (and with) customers that deserve at least a modicum of respect (I get that his response was to VS directly, but they are and have been an extension of the player base since inception, and he damn well knew his comment would be more than scrutinized).

Tldr: bad look for a Principle Game Designer to shitpost, regardless of the motivation (let lack thereof).

Iksar did a good job of fielding this report/article. But it's so tone deaf for Donais to respond like that.

Blizzard: "we welcome your feedback"

*get data-driven feedback*

Blizzard: "a good version of that feedback would be objective, you'd all just complain anyway"

And replying, basically, that "you'll just complain about something else" really fucking torpedoes any discussion.

I know Donais swings a big stick over there, but someone with a bigger stick needs to tell him to stay the fuck off reddit.

Honestly, I think Donais should have just stayed above the fray. Nothing he could say was going to help, and what he did say, essentially just being butt hurt, certainly didn't do him (or Team 5 by extension) any favors. It was clearly a knee-jerk response without any counter to the article. He could at least try to sell why polarity in the meta isn't all bad. Instead he just said "a good version" of the article would explain the pros and cons of a polarized meta. Fuck, Donais, if you're gonna get in the slop pit, at least provide something of value.

This is fucking fascinating. Really appreciate the link, and I'm glad VS came up with a mathematical formula to quantify exactly what we're all experiencing.

(Of note, Even Pally [along with Cube Lock] was among the highest frequency decks with the least polarizing matchups, and goddamnit it did not need nerf)

Mountain of salt aside, still reading it and digesting the findings. Sure as shit hope Team 5 is doing likewise.

ETA:

All 4 sets before Boomsday introduced mechanics that enabled and greatly escalated the core issue behind polarization: lack of meaningful counterplay. When you think about it, it all makes sense.

This echoes what I've been saying: they're still paying the price for escalating the power level so high during KFT, Ungoro, & K&C and no counterplay is the root cause of the problem.

I think Geralt is being underrated in this thread, possibly because he doesn't have a rich character battle history like so many of the contestants.

I've gotta believe Geralt will turn in a strong showing; his latest game is 3 years old, and still it's in the top 10 boards daily. Whether that will translate to success in the character battle, Idk. But I think he's beyond well-known by now, and doesn't face an especially difficult lineup (at least early on).

I'm wondering if they'll continue the current pattern of introducing one hero card per expansion. The classes that lose their DKs at rotation will be at a significant disadvantage, I feel, than those that will still have theirs. Mainly from a late-game, control and value perspective.

And while most hero cards currently are geared towards the late-game, think they'll ever introduce one that supports an aggressive deck?
