That means everyone is done except for Lolo's Slay the Spire, good job everyone! It was fun, as always.

I think a good tentative start date for the next randomizer would be April 2nd, but if that doesn't work for a majority of people we can shift it around.

I finally found a weapon that I like, the twinblade! It turned that knight encampment near the beginning from something I needed to stealth though (and I still died to the tough knight more often than not) into something I could slash through without a problem. I've even managed to beat two Evergaol bosses (still can't even come close against Crucible Knight, though). In the hub area, I also beat the AI invader. I tried twenty times with my dual starting swords and couldn't do it, with the twinblade I managed first try without even needing to heal.

Since I'm not rushing to an airport this time, I followed Lolo's suggestion from last time and made a discord server for this. Right now there's a channel for uploading yamls and another for hints. Joining isn't required, obviously, but it might be nice to have a spot outside the topic for us to chat! Feel free to join even if you aren't participating in this specific async, too.

https://discord.gg/24cWfeAF

I'm starting to gather the yaml's for tomorrow and I hope everyone is okay with me adding to some names because two files can't have the exact same name. Reg and Reg64, JeffreyRaze and JeffreyRazeR, LoloGuru and Lolo_Guru. To spice things up, I also added five bee traps to my RobaCraft yaml! If you send me a bee trap you can feel free to laugh at my misfortune.

In the big async, I got my Minecraft to 45/103 which is pretty damn impressive for basically no unlocks at all. I also got Subnautica to 83/130, which is about all I can do until I get a seaglide at the very least (at which point I can get a full inventory of air tanks and do about ten more)

It's fun watching the items being found by everyone and seeing some familiar names, though! Someone just gave Reg 20 rupees and a progressive glove to Lolo

4. Reg (LttP) Custom yaml

Small update on the 500 world Archipelago discord async, I have 35/105 in my Minecraft and 57/130 in my Subnautica. For all the stuff I see people passing back and forth to each other (so much stuff that it actually made my Subnautica game crash every ten minutes or so), it's impressive how little is going to me! I have one sword upgrade in Minecraft and a radiation suit in Subnautica and nothing else of note.

The Archipelago discord will start another huge async tomorrow, a 500 world one! There are still generic worlds that are claimable if anyone is interested, though be warned it could easily take a few weeks to get required items for your game. All you need to do is check for an unclaimed world for your game under the Game Options tab, then add your name next to that slot on the Main tab to claim it. They'll post the multiworld link on discord around noon tomorrow and that's where you'll get your download file or the server code or whatever your game needs.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14JkJub3liLG6dqRvf7TtH0JMh3SwqRJXeGFNd0uhb08/

Reg already sent a custom yaml, and is the LttP in slot 10. I broke down and grabbed a generic Subnautica (366) and a Minecraft (Player486). I'll also be doing the Minecraft slot 252 with my friends.

There, I beat Minecraft. This async had a 100% success rate!

If we do settle on having these once per month, I suppose that was our February jaunt. Saturday mornings seem a fair time to begin, so the next one will be approximately March 5th, if that sounds good? I'll be down for at least another Minecraft and Subnautica. Others can sign up now too if they want but I'll ping people in the final week to confirm anyway so no rush.

NFUN got what he needed in Factorio and appears to have all his VVVVVV trinkets, so I guess my Minecraft doesn't have anything essential for anyone now. I'll beat it in a few days, latest on the weekend, but I guess there's no rush anymore! Thanks for doing this again everyone, I enjoyed it.

I finally found a Nether fortress and got enough blaze rods to make the Ender eyes, but it turns out I need Brewing to be unlocked before I'm allowed to make blaze powder. Luckily, Brewing is in Reg's LTTP and he'll beat that game in five minutes whenever he gets his items. After that I could in theory beat Minecraft, though I'd need a little time to prep first

Our multiworld is officially complete. Thanks for participating everyone, I enjoyed it a lot.

As I said earlier, I can't participate in another one for about three weeks since I'm going away, but anytime after February 6th I'm 100% willing. You can all feel free to organize another without me before that, though!

If there is still interest in three weeks, I'd like to do Minecraft. I just got done looking through all the advancements and think it would be fun to give it a try. There are ten or so I doubt I'll ever be able to do (like, the beacon ones require beating the wither. Two years ago me and ten friends tried to kill the wither and all we managed was dying while it destroyed large portions of the countryside) but a lot of them seem reasonable, and once I got enough progression sent my way I would of course slay the Ender Dragon. I could also do a second world playing Subnautica, no reason why we should feel limited to one game if someone is willing to keep up with two. But we'll see where people are at in three weeks for that one.

For now, if anyone wants to do a multiworld in the near future, someone can start putting something together. You might want to make a more official topic for Archipelago too, not sure how many new players you'll find 200 posts deep into an existing topic.

Thank you for finding me my laser cutter, Lolo! I'm at 118/130. Two of them need a propulsion cannon and the last ten are super deep. I know from experience that I could get them by loading up with seven air tanks and just going for it, but that was miserable the one time I did it so I'll hold out hope that someone will find my last mobile vehicle bay fragment and a vehicle upgrade console so I can make a Seamoth.

I'm glad I got my laser cutter items though. I know that Reg would have really struggled to beat the game without that Boss Heart Container I sent!

Also this is going beyond what you asked, but if you want some Minecraft goals these are the ones that looked most important. From what I can tell at least, there were various progressive things for NFUN that might be important and rupees/hearts/arrows for the LttP/OoT trio and a bunch of Secret of Evermore stuff that I don't know about, but at a glance I think these are important.

I guess the server log only shows for the person who generates the world, and even then only on the very first link that opened it for some reason.

I just copied the whole server log to a google doc. I think it might only show this to me because this was the link that opened when I generated the world, if I open the same link again in a different tab it goes away.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/18QexWgSzFdiVO_vJY637zTZPZP8WAtUjmas8cL6zFYs/edit?usp=sharing

I'm at 89/130, which is all I can do until I get my last two laser cutter fragments. I need more than that to actually beat the game but with a laser cutter I could get all but 12 of my items. So, I hinted for them! No rush Lolo but it looks like you have all my fragments.

[Hint]: Robazoid's Laser Cutter Fragment is at Ivor Houses #236 in Lolo_Guru's World. (not found)

I generated the world, hopefully this winds up working for everyone! I've set hints to 0% for this run so we can find items if we need to. Some games let you type the !hint (item) command in them, others require the Archipelago text client. I figure we can post hinted locations for stuff in here.

Well we have at least a few people who seem interested, so let's give it a shot! I'm sure there will be some hurdles along the way, but I'll enable manual forfeiting so if something goes wrong or you decide you don't want to play anymore you'll be able to give up and send all your game's items to other people. With that in mind, please follow the steps below if you are interested.

1. Choose your game
Bear in mind that your game will be randomized, so you'll be playing in potentially difficult conditions. Also consider what randomization means for your game. For example, in Minecraft, progression is tied to the in-game achievements and you won't even be able to craft a stone pickaxe until you either find or get sent progressive tools 1. Your goal is to beat the Ender Dragon, too, which is why I'm not choosing Minecraft despite how much I love it, hunting achievements and slaying the Ender Dragon isn't my ideal way of playing it. For something like Slay the Spire, you won't get card rewards after battles or items from bosses or chests, those things will get found by others and sent to you. Again, we'll allow forfeiting so there's no danger if you wind up not liking this and want to quit, I just want to make sure people go in with the right mindset.

2. Figure out how to set up your game
I think we're deep enough into the topic that I'm willing to risk linking the website.

Each game has a different setup, and unless you're playing Subnautica I likely won't be able to help you figure it out. If there's anything you have trouble with, I suggest going to their discord server and asking the nice people there.

3. Let me know if you want any changes to your game's default settings
https://archipelago.gg/games

Each game has a link to a settings page where there might be a few options or a lot of options depending on the game. I think it'll be easiest if I generate the yamls (files with game-specific settings) myself rather than everyone doing their own and sending them to me somehow. For this first test run especially I think we should stick as close to the defaults as possible, but if you see anything important to you that you want to change, let me know.

Optional: You can also use that page to generate your own yaml, which you can then upload in the Start Playing page of the website and generate your own single-player randomized game. This is for anyone who wants to confirm their setup works, if you're able to connect to your own game you'll have no trouble connecting to ours. However, no one should feel the need to do this, we can just make our multiworld and hopefully figure out any problems that arise.

4. Once enough people have informed me that they've figured out their games and any changes to their settings, I can create the necessary yamls, generate a multiworld, and then provide a room link, which will have download files for certain games or a server number for other games to connect to.

I guess I can link to the google doc for the 400 world one I'm participating in, just for fun. Anyone who joins their discord could access it, and there's no potentially moddable emulation stuff on here

I'm player 389!

I think playing these async is kind of neat. I like checking in each day to see if anyone sent me a damn laser cutter yet, and it can be fun to push further than you should technically be able to (in games that allow it, anyway) and get neat items for other people way earlier than they would normally have them. It can be slow though, especially in one as large as the one I joined where a lot of people have barely progressed their worlds while others have beaten theirs. B8 will have far fewer people/worlds and should go a lot smoother/faster.

I definitely prefer playing all at the same time with my friends and chatting while we go through our individual games, but something like that wouldn't really work on B8. With async, people could play at all different times and time zones.

Now that I'm at a real keyboard I guess I can explain a bit more about how this works (though, again, google 'archipelago randomizer', it has more info). Basically you'd need to install the Archipelago client, and there are different steps to doing that depending on what games you want to set it up for. There's a page for each game on the website that explains how to set up that specific game. Then there's a settings page for each game where you select the kind of randomizer you want (for Super Metroid, for example, you can set your starting location to the Landing Site so you don't need to waste time on Ceres, along with dozens of other options I don't fully understand). This settings page gets you something called a yaml, which is basically a file with your specified game setup. On the Archipelago website, you upload a bunch of these yaml files for however many people/games you have participating, and then it randomizes everything. Some players will then need to download rom files for their games while others just need to log into the client in their games. In Subnautica, for example, I just need to put in the archipelago server number and my player name and then I'm connected.

wait so is it like one game per player? Like I'd be Slay the Spire and not play Subnautica?

You can have more than one but then you need to swap between them and if you need to keep going back and forth getting items for yourself it might get annoying. In the 400-world one I'm participating in a lot of people have more than one slot but the odds of you having anything significant for your other slots is pretty slim.

400 world? That seems like it would have taken forever to generate, and likely result in a ton of BK mode situations.

Yeah, no idea how long it took them to generate it or what kind of logic Archipelago uses to prevent runs from getting stuck, but I've played several multiworlds with my friends with up to five games and we haven't run into an unwinnable situation yet. In the 400 world one I've been waiting a few days now for an item I need in Subnautica so it's definitely slow going, though.
