A man and woman have been arrested alongside their 33-year-old son after allegedly flying from India to help him “discipline” his wife.

Police described Silky Gaind, 33, as “badly beaten and bruised over her entire body” when they found her and her child on Saturday inside her Florida home.

Devbir Kalsi, 33, and his parents Jasbir Kalsi, 67, and Bhupinder Kalsi, 61, had been beating her “for an extended period of time”, Tampa Bay Times reports.

Gaind called her own parents in India on Saturday to tell them about the abuse and they contacted local authorities who visited the home, according to a police report.

When police arrived, they had to force the door open after hearing Gaind’s screams to “save her and her child”, police said.

Officers arrested Devbir and both his parents.

After further investigation, police concluded Devbir’s parents traveled from India to “counsel and discipline” Gaind at their son’s request, after he told them his wife was being disobedient.

According to the arrest report, Devbir struck his wife “repeatedly and forcefully” and then, when she tried to defend herself, his parents also began hitting her, causing bruises on her face, neck and torso.

Jasbir then threatened to stab her with a kitchen knife, the report said.

Gaind at the time had reportedly been holding the couple’s child, who was inadvertently hit in the face before being put in a separate room. She was unharmed.

All three now remain in Hillsborough County jail.

Devbir and Jasbir face charges of imprisonment, child abuse and denying access to 911. Devbir faces additional charges of felony battery and Jasbir of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Bhupinder also faces charges of battery domestic violence and failure to report child abuse.

Gaind and her child had also been moved to a safe place police said.

A 16-year-old United Airlines passenger was left "traumatized" after a 28-year-old man allegedly groped her mid-flight, her lawyer tells ABC News.

The girl -- who was traveling alone aboard United flight 1695 from Seattle to Newark -- awoke from a nap to find fellow passenger Vijakumar Krishnappa's hand on her thigh, according to a criminal complaint filed against him in federal court in New Jersey.

Krishnappa removed his hand and she went back to sleep, but soon she was "startled awake" again. Krishnappa had his hand on her groin, "rubbing the victim through her clothing," according to the complaint. He also "tried to put his other hand inside of the victim's pants," the complaint claims.

"She was horrified," her attorney, Johnny McCray, told ABC News. "It's affected her ability to sleep and concentrate."

The girl notified a male flight attendant, who reportedly told her "that's not cool" and moved her to another seat, McCray maintains.

The flight attendant "did appear to have somewhat of a cavalier attitude," McCray said.

According to the attorney, it was the girl's mother -- not United -- that contacted the authorities after the plane landed. Meanwhile, Krishnappa had departed the airport.

McCray claims the airline violated its own policy, which he says directs employees to immediately notify authorities following allegations of a criminal act committed in the air.

"The safety and security of our customers is our top priority," United said in a statement. "We take these allegations seriously and continue to work closely with the proper authorities as part of their review."

Because United's policy only covers unaccompanied minors age 15 and below, the airline "assumes no financial or guardianship responsibilities beyond those applicable to an adult passenger," according to its contract of carriage.

Asked to comment on both policies, United told ABC News, "we are also reviewing the way that this situation was handled on-board and after the plane landed in New Jersey."

Eventually, the FBI used the flight manifest to track down Krishnappa, a doctor from India. The girl identified him from a photo array.

Krishnappa was later arrested, released on $50,000 bail, and forbidden from contacting the girl. His attorney did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment, but told the Washington Post his client "adamantly denies the charges and deserves to be considered an innocent man."

"Our principal concern is making sure that Dr. Krishnappa is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," said McCray, adding that the family has not yet discussed suing the airline.

In 2015 the FBI told ABC News it believes in-flight sexual assaults are vastly under-reported and estimated at least one incident reported at least once a week in New York City area alone.

An Indian Muslim teenager was kidnapped by two men in balaclavas before being raped and murdered after she began a relationship with an Arab Muslim, a court has heard.

The body of Celine Dookhran, 19, was found inside a £1.5million home after a woman in her 20s who had her throat slit alerted police from hospital, it is said.

Ms Dookhran was allegedly tasered and dragged from the shower before she was kidnapped with the other woman, bound and gagged and taken to an address in Kingston-upon-Thames where they were both raped and Ms Dookran was killed on July 19.

A post mortem gave the cause of death as an incised wound to the neck.

Mujahid Arshid, 33, appeared in court charged with the murder, rape and kidnap of Ms Dookhran.

He is further charged with the rape, attempted murder and kidnap of the second woman.

He appeared alongside his co-defendant, Vincent Tappu, 28, who is charged with the kidnap of both women.

Binita Roscoe, prosecuting, said: “The deceased was involved in a relationship with an Arab Muslim and the family members didn’t approve of this relationship because they are Indian Muslims.”

Two men in balaclavas entered the property on July 19, the prosecutor said.

She told the court: “Her face and mouth were covered in duct tape. Her hands were tied with cable ties and her feet were tied with rope.

“She believes a sock was placed in her mouth. She had heard the deceased who was in the shower screaming.

“The deceased was brought down tied up. They were bound in dust sheets and placed in a vehicle.”

An Oregon woman has received three years' probation for licking and groping a fellow passenger on a flight last year, local media report.

Heidi McKinney, 27, smuggled alcohol on board the Alaska Airlines flight and touched a woman, 19, sitting next to her on the breast and genitals.

She pleaded guilty in March to assault with the intent to commit a felony.

She was sentenced to eight months of home detention plus the three years of probation, reports Oregon Live.
McKinney was arrested after the plane from Las Vegas landed at Portland International Airport on 8 May 2016.

In March, prosecutor Ravi Sinha told a Portland federal court the defendant had "made contact with victim's body, including her inner thigh, and made a series of profane and lewd statements to the victim".

The assistant US attorney said McKinney had acted with "intent to humiliate and harass the victim".

According to court documents, the defendant took her seat on Flight 621 and before departure placed her hands on the female passenger's chest "allowing her hands to linger there uncomfortably".

McKinney asked personal questions, bragging about her own wealth and calling the victim "poor", according to court documents.

She also put her arm around the woman and took photos of her.

After the Sunday take-off, McKinney badgered the victim to drink alcohol she had smuggled on board.

McKinney, of suburban Portland, also licked the victim's ear, attempted to kiss her and tried to place her hands on the victim's crotch on three separate occasions.
