Any details on movie? Looks like it takes place in the 70s

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/brad-pitt-leonardo-dicaprio-star-quentin-tarantinos-once-a-time-hollywood-1089717

Tarantino describes it as "a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor Sharon Tate."

Ah so Charlie Manson is gonna be involved then lol. I wonder if this movie will be more grounded or have the more wacky tone his later movies have had. Probably the latter.

Apparently it's supposed to have a tone similar to Pulp Fiction. Basically a Pulp Fiction-type story taking place in the 1960s.

Is there a reason Quentin always hires a group of A-list actors/actresses for his movies?

Not hating, just curious.

Apparently he's very specific and strict about what actors/actresses he chooses for his movies. Dude has a ton of respect in the industry. He's the type of director that every actor/actress would want to work for.

Dune seems like this fucking niche nerdy ass thing to me that I know nothing about.

Is it cool?

I loved Arrival so I'm intrigued.

It's regarded as one of the best sci-fi books ever written. Basically the Lord of the Rings of sci-fi.

With Blade Runner 2049 behind him, Denis Villeneuve is gearing up for Dune and he isnt hiding the fact he has some big plans in store for his adaptation of Frank Herberts 1965 novel. The director appeared at the Rendez-Vous du Cinema Quebecois this week (via The Playlist) where he revealed to the audience that Dune is going to be more than just a one-off tentpole.

Dune will probably take two years to make, Villeneuve said. The goal is to make two films, maybe more.

So glad it seems to be worth the hype I had from the trailer. Alex Garland is one to watch man.

Seems like Garland and Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, Dune) are becoming the two main directors for hardcore sci-fi in Hollywood. They're both incredibly talented.

Holy shit, Villneuve wants to do a Dune movie? That would be incredible.

I think the studio already confirmed him as the director. Gonna be fucking amazing.

Critics Consensus: Annihilation backs up its sci-fi visual wonders and visceral genre thrills with an impressively ambitious -- and surprisingly strange -- exploration of challenging themes that should leave audiences pondering long after the end credits roll.
