Why does my low karma matter? It doesn't except to someone who is an elitist nerd that invests all their time on CE. He fails to engage any of my argument, so he pulls CE clout he has for obeying all the rules of one of the most embarrassing message boards to consistently follow. My point was obviously that using karma to determine some level of status on this board is laughable.

If it came down to us posting our W2's, he would see where he stands in life compared to me and he'd keep his mouth shut. As it stands, he's just some guy that spends too much of his time on this message board. Do you understand now? Or are you dense?

Obviously if you are a one off individual that has a cat then I am not talking about you.

And I am describing both ends of the spectrum. People and cats run a wide range from people who are obsessed with them for bizarre reasons, to people who have really disturbing amounts of hostility towards them. I wouldn't want to date someone that hates cats either. An all around animal lover that doesn't particularly want to own a cat would be ideal.

I just see the things you guys complain about and are worried about and I know damn well you guys can barely take care of yourselves, even with your parents paying the mortgage.

I know that taking care of anything more than a house plant is going to stretch the average CE user thin. So I don't believe disliking cats is a deal breaker for any of these guys.

TC is some dude that watches cat videos on YouTube. And that's fine. Just bizarre to pretend he wouldn't take a girl not into cats.

I've dated a woman who had a cat and pretending to like it was a chore, but I did most of the time. Getting a woman indifferent to cats is ideal because I don't have to go through all that bullshit again and she also isn't a psychopath who wants to hurt them for trespassing or anything.

So you're basically one of the examples I quoted. I'm sure if you ever got it together enough to meet the normal daily demands of having to pay bills and stock your house with groceries, you'd be at capacity. There wouldn't be any energy left for you to invest taking care of an animal that has requirements. I probably like cats more than you.

Let them know that you are an Idol user on GameFAQS.com and a respected user on the Current Events message board. They will quickly realize the caliber of individual they're dealing with and choose another victim.

idgaf about cats. It's fine for people who like cats and good for people that have chosen to nourish life and foster happiness for it, but I am indifferent to them in terms of owning one, or even wanting to pet one I see randomly. Most of CE isn't prepared for the responsibility of pet ownership, even on the bare minimum level a cat requires so it's hard for me to imagine this bothering anybody here.

My life has only gotten worse since my 30's. I have a ton of money, own my own house, but my social skills regressed completely.

Just had a long text chat w/a match and she eventually told me she won't ever let me put anything in her butt, no negotiations.

I've stopped replying and she's trying to get me to keep talking. I'm just kind of put off. This isn't a massive deal breaker in itself, but I'm just disappointed she isn't even open to it. I'm going to ghost her a little longer and bring it back up to see if she changes her tune.

At what point in their life does the average user of CE realize that posting here is a waste of time and serves no real life application?

Both of those people are very interesting.

When I read too much fiction I love to read an autobiography about someone interesting. Nothing is more fulfilling for me to read than some first hand life experience from someone who truly has lead an interesting life.

We are constantly evolving to outrun pathogens that could have serious impacts to our mortality rate. I would say we are still overdue for a truly impactful pandemic.

So people can talk about it.

Whether they're speculating on how bad it will be botched, or how hyped they are, people talking about the games for a long period of time puts it on everyone's radar.

Hard to get hyped over games that have no expectations, like a new franchise, and remakes usually have automatic expectations to drive sales.

I'm a mountain guide in CO but rock is my weakest discipline, I've never really enjoyed it.

I enjoy ice, mixed, alpinism, ski alpinism...

I still get confused on what qualifies as alpine climbing compared to rock. From what I can tell, alpine is all about getting to the summit of a high altitude climb with all your gear packed on you. So, if you can avoid any fifth class climbing you hike or scramble around it. Is that accurate?

that's for shorter, unroped climbs (usually on boulders). think <10ft and landing on a pad. usually more technical/strength based, not as much endurance.

top roping is hanging a rope from the top of the climb and using that to get to the top

sport climbing is hooking into anchors attached to the cliff as you go

trad is placing your own anchors as you go. scary af.

bouldering/top roping/sport climbing can be outdoors or in a gym

trad is only outdoor afaik

Yeah, that's not a bad breakdown of the different types, without diving into aid or alpine.

TC sounds like someone who does stuff like climb cliffs. Bouldering is a bit different. And they use a different rating system, IIRC.

I boulder sometimes, but mostly for training purposes. I can boulder about a V4-V5 level on my good days.

used to be an avid boulderer - climbed 3-4x a week for about 5 years. sweet spot was v5-v6 depending on the gym/style.

did a bit of top roping outdoors, but it was so much work and a pain to find a partner sometimes. really no outdoor bouldering in the area, but i climbed what i could.

it's fun, got me in pretty good shape. massive forearms before i stopped.

Yeah the big obstacle for route climbing or multi pitch is a reliable partner.

Some people are liabilities outside. I had a belayer mess up while I was lead climbing and slipped before making the second clip and it resulted in a ground fall. Managed to fall without injuring myself, somehow. I thank previous Judo training. He didn't catch me properly because he was screwing around with a camera.

On the other end of the spectrum is people who freak out and can't second a route they should be able to because they get psyched out. But I feel like you need a larger crowd to safely boulder, because you need to consolidate crash pads. I'm not much of a group person, so I try to just find a partner and do routes.

If you are bouldering, then yes it is referred to as bouldering.

If you are climbing something with gear like cams, rope, harness, which is primarily what I do, it isn't called bouldering. Bouldering is a type of rock climbing.

I do boulder in a gym for training, but rarely outside.

Not expecting a lot of responses here. The average user on CE doesn't have what it takes.

That said, I use my more passive hobbies like video games to motivate me into training and learning new skills. I'm a 10 year vet and have climbed in multiple states through Arizona, Colorado, Vegas, Utah, and California.

I climb about 5.11+, but that varies on area and rock type obviously. Any other climbers here?

You generally stuck in an enclosed area in those games. It is more like Arkham Asylum where you have to travel between the buildings and unlock more of each as the game goes on. I feel like it makes a difference but I dunno I guess.

Don't attempt to debate with me. You don't know what you're talking about and I'm not interested in peer to peer debates with the users on this site. My answer to your question is that you will enjoy the other ones if you enjoyed the first one. Additional discussion with you is not required or even wanted.

I tell everyone I know to give two weeks notice, and I'll explain why. I knew someone that worked at Home Depot and quit, No call no show. 10 years later he got his IT degree and applied to Home Depot as a Network Admin. When he went into his interview they asked him about it. He didn't get the job. I don't know if he just had a bad interview however I'm sure that didn't help him. When I hire someone I always call their references and ask if a notice was given. I can't afford to have someone just up and quit on me.

If it was even relevant like you suspect, he wouldn't have been interviewed. He obviously wasn't places on a do-not-rehire list.

A lot of employment verification us automated. If you work for a big company you are on Equifax/Worknumber, or some other database that will verify your history. A majority of the time the hiring manager is just making their decision off of who has the most experience. They don't often have the time to get elbows deep investigating all of their interview candidates, so them picking up the phone and having a conversation with someone about you is very rare.

When it does happen, they usually will call anyone without any verification of who they are talking to. You could have them call your old colleague, a guy you met at a bar, your big brother, your dog, anyone that can be coached to give positive answers.

Good for you on obeying all the rules. I will give 2 weeks notice if I see a reason. But I have a 15 year job history and 6 figure income. I work very little through the week, usually sleeping through the first couple hours of my shift since I WFH full time. If you are in the right industry, you don't need to worry about this nonsense.

The sequels being open world doesn't change the format of the game at all. Metroidvania games are 2D open world anyhow, complete with a shop and fast travel.

The second Wily Stage is a Rush Jet level. This game REALLY sucks. It's not even trying to be Megaman.

I have beaten X1 and maybe X2? I beat X4, and then skipped to X6. I am playing through the Megaman Anniversary Collection and have beaten 1 through 7 and am probably going to skip 8 because it sucks.

I'm more impressed by a firm, hard ****. Men should whip out their ****s when meeting to compare.

It sucks paying loans. It does. But it's a part of being a responsible human. There are a bazillion trade jobs that pay super well right now, literally no one NEEDS college.

A lot of people got scammed on their education. Kind of crappy to compare a Mortgage that probably appreciates in value, and you get a roof over your head to owing a bunch of money to an education that isn't even helping you find a job.

Also, if I am underwater in my mortgage, I have options to mitigate the loss. Student debt follows you everywhere. They will garnish your income over it.

It seems to me that the internet has completely broken dating. Women can now just summon attention from a totem they carry on themselves 24 hours a day. Some bypass dating entirely and explicitly look for a sugar daddy to pay their bills. It seems like before the whole world was connected we scrutinized the relationships we had less often and tended to build with what we got. Impactful events had more significance in bonding people.

Now, for both men and women, everyone seems so disposable. Couple that with the lack of intimacy that comes from meeting someone over an online application process, it just seems to me that the modern world doesn't really create for many bonding experiences once you're out if the academic world.

On top of that, survival seems to be such a struggle for the average person, and real relationships tend to lead to responsibilities, or facing difficult times together, and people today don't discuss things from mutual disagreement anymore. They go to war, cancel each other and split ugly. I know there are exceptions, but it I would see it so often on social media. Part of the reason I deleted my FB.

That's true, and I didn't even realize it. I don't do this myself, but a coffee shop I sometimes get breakfast burritos from does.

I get that he was always a conspiracy nut but a lot of his mistrust in massive corporations was valid. It just feels strange seeing him not remotely middle of the road, but full blown right wing.
