Expert Mode is a literal game changer with the ability to bank EXP from sources other than battles and changing your levels on the fly using that. Time Attack is pretty neat as well and the new epilogue story is about like 10+ hours.

Using Expert Mode I've gone from breezing through the story thanks to all the quests I usually do (I'm a completionist whenever I play most games...) to actually properly equipping my party with new armors, weapons, and gems and being up to par with enemies thanks to the EXP boost from yellow-tagged enemies. It's actually really fun to play this way and actually got me to learn the game better.

I'm playing it right now, and it's really good. First time to the series. I was surprised by how much I immediately enjoyed it. It usually takes a few hours for an RPG to get going for me.

Regardless, it's fantastic. I love the improved visuals and the little QoL stuff they added to an already good game just made the experience sweeter.

I played up until the fourth tower or so before I dropped it around 2013 or so. I can't remember if I had a reason for dropping it. It's pretty unique.
