Yes, usually to a variety of local organizations (food banks, refugee support, habitat for humanity), but also to others as they come up. I try to get my company to match when possible, but not every org is big enough to be recognized or tax deductible or whatever (ex: gofundme's, mutual aid funds).

I really should make some of these recurring monthly, but for now it's sporadic throughout the year.

I developed a severe case of motion sickness about a decade ago, which makes it very difficult for me to play any game that is an fps, or even third person games with a camera that doesn't jive with my brain. I can only play Haven in 20-30 minute chunks before I feel ill.

To identify that in the absolute current scope currently, we are not in a dictatorship. We enjoy freedoms that many people in the world lack.

However, if you can understand cause and effect, you'll recognize that laws that are antithetical to democracy would cause our democracy index score to decrease!

The US is ranked 25th globally, considered to be a Flawed Democracy. We've been slowly dropping ever since the index was first created in the mid 00s. For further context, though, we're right behind France and before Portugal, so the dictatorship comment is out of place given the current structure of things.

If these sorts of laws pass, you can bet that we'll be going down! So it's not particularly funny in my book.

Four justices called Kavanaugh out for overruling Montgomery without being entirely honest about what he was up to. Meanwhile, the Courts three liberal justices joined an opinion by Justice Sonia Sotomayor that walked right up to the line of accusing Kavanaugh of lying about what he was up to in his majority opinion. The Court simply rewrites Miller and Montgomery to say what the Court now wishes they had said, and then denies that it has done any such thing, Sotomayor wrote. The Court, she added, knows what it is doing.
Kavanaughs loose approach to precedent, in other words, isnt simply being noticed by legal experts and court-watchers. Its being noticed by Kavanaughs colleagues to his right and to his left and four of them recently called him out for it.

Tldr - half of his coworkers publicly called Kavanaugh dishonest, including fucking Thomas!

Ok. That's still more than there should be because even if you think prisons need to exist, there is absolutely no societal good that comes from them being for profit. It should be 0%.

And yes, if we want to get really radical here, we can get rid of almost all public prisons too. It's part of the whole abolish thing.
