Look at it this way. Every profession has clients. A heart surgeon takes on one client at a time for high pay, multiple times a day.

A football team has millions of clients(fans) paying far less per client and far less often however due to their ability to take on so many clients at once, they make more money.

If a heart surgamm had a way to serve even a quarter of the number of clients the play has in a month, they'd make far more than the football player.

I literally just said I understand and dont care about the economics of it. In a perfect society, people are rewarded to the tangible benefits the provide to society, not the amount of revenue they generate.

Pro athletes who aren't total douchebags give underprivileged youth who lack gifted intelligence hope that they could still reach success someway.

Even if the kids never actually become athletes themselves, it can help knowing that someone else in the world with mere basic intelligence can still make it big. It can open their views to similar opportunities that are closer to home and practical.


And frankly, speaking from experience working in medical fields, quite a few doctors who prevent fatalities are still douchebags. Being a doctor is not a badge of honor in itself. Being an ethical doctor who displays at least bare minimum compassion towards patients even after years of practicing is what honorable medicine is. Not just some certifications stuck on a wall...

I would rather associate with a rich intelligent douchebag than a rich dumbass douchebag.

Look people, I understand the economics behind why they make the money they do, but it is flawed from a utilitarian perspective. The topic is about a philosophical gripe I have with capitalism. People should be paid according to the direct and tangible benefit they provide to society. Saving lives deserves a greater reward than hitting a baseball.

Saying those phrases is not a good habit to get into, and it will only ever have neutral or negative effects. There are plenty of other words to use that wont result in you pissing people off and getting hit with a sexual harassment case (it happens).

I grew up in a deeply religious area were gay hate crimes were a very real thing. Growing up in such a hateful, closed-minded environment was difficult to say the least.

When someone says "f**" or "thats so gay" it is a throwback to those times. Throughout my life, people have said those thing around me, not knowing that I am gay. Being a teenager is hard enough, but it is made worse when a core part of your identity is regularly used as an insult and is synonymous with "weak", "bad", and "undesirable".

Nowadays, when I hear an adult use those phrases, I immediately think less of them. It is very uncultured and juvenile. At worst, it shows that they are a bigot, and at best, it shows that they are completely oblivious to the lives of others. I realize most people dont actually mean it as a pointed insult, but they should take a moment to consider what others have been through, and the effect that they words can have on younger individuals. You never know if you are talking to someone who is gay.

And if nothing else, if you say it in the workplace, it is a great way to get hit with a sexual harassment case. Not a good habit to get into.

I assume the Republicans will be disqualified if they don't have a full team.
